Music feeds inspiration, drives creativity, and is an essential part of our lives. Most of us listen to music throughout our day while working, relaxing, or spending time with friends. Although it can be mostly seen as entertainment, music has always been a major part of our experience as humans. It is our companion through good times and an aide through more difficult times.
Music is also known to be a great tool for motivation. We use it to reach flow, a mental state in which we are completely absorbed in a chosen activity, or also known as “in the zone”.
Adults have a more difficult time attaining their flow state, due to the many distractions we encounter every day.
On the other hand, kids access their flow effortlessly, since it's natural for them to think and create freely.
During any creative activity, we strive to access the flow state as quickly as possible so that we can produce our best work possible. Curating a playlist for a certain activity or mood helps us reach our peak performance level in a relatively short amount of time. It also keeps our flow uniterupted by eliminating the guesswork in choosing what song to play next.
Kompas Creative has our very own music curator, Ali Watson, who puts great care and effort into creating each volume of the Kompas Mixtapes.
Ali has been in a serious relationship with music since the tape deck days, when she used to create her own mixtapes by recording songs from the radio. Music has always been her favorite way to connect with people.
Dedicated and passionate about seeking out music and compiling it into playlists for any situation. Tailored to motivate you during a long day at the office, or inspire you to express yourself. She develops a soundtrack that creates flow and transforms any ordinary experience into a more memorable one.
Music reflects the dynamics of real life: the hardships, growth, and accomplishments we face each day. Each volume of the Kompas Mixtape was created to help get us "in the zone" and be the soundtrack for our experiences at Kompas.
We wanted to share our archive of Kompas Mixtapes and hope that they motivate, inspire, and help you find a creative flow. Although if our playlists aren’t really your style, we encourage you to create your own.
