sinclair motors. the sign was large, blinking, and neon. one of four locations, the others settled in major cities such as milwaukee, madison, the dells, and of course -- point place. roger sinclair was an extravagant business man, especially for the sixties. he frequently traveled to japan, china, and any other major car producers in asia, spending up to four months of the year just browsing the up and coming vehicles. judy sinclair, his doting wife, maintained the stores while he was away - frequent stops at the locations to ensure the managers were doing what they were paid to do, and that sales were flowing appropriately.

due to their busy schedules, they didn’t have much time for children. when judy became pregnant -- they were beside themselves. everything seemed to come to a slamming halt. on april eleventh, sabrina sinclair was born -- the new face of sinclair motors.

and here she sat, legs dangling off the side of the receptionist counter as the keys of a brand new oldsmobile cutlass, the one she laid her eyes on had been bright orange and would look gorgeous on the road -- “ daddy, please ! ” wailed sixteen year old sabrina, lip jutted out into the largest puppy dog pout possible, “ jackie ( @burkhearten​ ) and i want to go to the mall -- and i just got my license ! i’m totally capable ! ” alas, her father wasn’t in the building, but instead, a phone was pressed up to her ear. she heard the begrudging sigh, and she knew he wsa bound to relent. and that he did - making her vow to bring it back before the dealership closed -- and she promised as always, but knew he wouldn’t hold her to her word.

once the car was in possession, sabrina started the journey to the forman residence - a place that she never understood why her beloved bestie would spend her time. as she pulled into the driveway of the horrifically suburban home. she wasted no time pulling herself from the vehicle, inviting herself into the basement where the grungy group stood. “ hi eric, ” she greeted the home owner halfheartedly, raised better than to disregard someone who’s home she had just waltzed into, and then focused her full attention onto jackie, “ what are you wearing ? we’re supposed to go to the mall, babe. i got the cutlass and everything ! ”

a genuine laugh escaped from ruby - one of few, from her chest somehow surpassing her typical bared teeth. she shook her head, crimped blonde strands falling in front of her eyes as the second wave of laughter passed through her, this time, just a sharp breath through her nose similar to a scoff. “i would rank it a little lower than that -- number two would definitely be an alien invasion. three would be zombie apocalypse,” she added to the humored moment, deciding there was no point in being all huffy and puffy. “well we’re partners now, so it’d be pretty foul of me to just abandon you,” ruby disregarded. “i’ll hunt down every janitor if i must, we will be leaving this hellhole together,”

it was no secret that augustine mars had a way with her words - the way was typically the wrong one. fast and jumbled, never connecting to the previous thing she had said. the original question at hand was whether or not callie would be interested in coming over to study after school, but somehow she was now on the topic of mammal nipples and the process of feed milk to infants of any species. “i just wonder if like ... if bears could opt to give their babies formula, if they would? like ...” brows knit together as she tapped in her chin in thought, “like do you think they’re aware of the positive effects of breast milk, or do you think they just ... do it?”

kempt brows are nestled together in the center of an angelic face. baby blues remain welled with tears that refuse to fall. each time they dance along her waterline, she managed to tip her head back, saving her resolve as well as her mascara. what a piece of shit. tyler marking had managed to smash her heart into smithereens this morning, and while she’d managed to avoid him in the halls, their typical places such as in front of either of their lockers, or beside his science class -- she wasn’t able to avoid the girl that he admitted to cheating on her with.

a year down the drain! he’d met her sisters, her parents -- even her dogs! she was enraged and hurt, and couldn’t find the words to express it to him in the moment, therefore -- she wouldn’t utter them at all. he was done. there was no going back, that was certainly not what would fit with the francis reputation, and she would not break the mold for some scummy boy.

watery gaze shot toward the person who had seemed to magically appear beside her. it wasn’t like she were in some secret location, just tucked beneath a stairwell a few minutes past a passing period. “oh -- uh,” in her moments of thought she had neglected her tip technique, and tears now trailed down her cheeks, staining her skin with mascara and irritation. “no, i’m okay,” she corrected the boy who was all but a blurry image for the time being.

the blonde inhaled shakily, a small whine from the burn of mascara in her eyes leaving her lips, “i look like an idiot, right?” trembling fingers are quick to push the tears away and to wipe the salty solution off on her jeans. “don’t answer that,” she decided, his face finally visible as the tears sunk away now that she had company. “hi,” a simple greeting as a wobbling smile plastered on her features. “how are you?”

the dot was swarming with customers. more than usual - and it had been causing the kitchen to fall behind far more than they ever had. large family orders along with clusters of teenagers - clementine felt awful for the staff that evening, but she made no move to leave, herself. she was starved and dying for some fries.

attention is drawn to the occupant of the seat beside her, brows raised at the half hearted assumption, and she managed to breathe out a laugh, “you should take up fortune telling,” she mused, sitting up straighter in her seat before spinning her stool around to face him completely. there were a few questions circulating around her like -- when did he sit there, how did she not notice he had sat there, and a few others that played no part in the situation. the ginger opened her mouth to speak, but settled on spinning around again, nearly wobbling off the chair in her typical clumsy nature. “patience is key, young one,” he was older than her, but the words still managed to fill the gap, “i think i’d rather die than be in their position right now,”
