Kovit finds out about one of his abilities when heās five and questioning his parents about the existence of subtitles. For him, everyone speaks the same language, however, itās the accents, tones and expressions what makes everyone different. His parents explain him that no, most countries have a unique language that makes them different and only those who grow there, or learn the language will understand. Heās five years old, but why does he turn off the subtitles when watching foreign movies? And most importantly, why is Kovi so sure that theyāre speaking Thai as well?
He gets in trouble for his second one when heās twelve and steals something for the first time. The little kid slides it in his pocket and walks towards the doors with an almost surprising serene expression. Sadly, heās stopped before leaving the store and instead the guards question him and what he has in his pockets. That was the first and last time he got caught stealing, due to the fact that he made sure to develop the ability he had been born with.Ā
The word escape resounds more and more after his mother passes away. No dramatic plots, no āpoor little guyā for him. His mother died of desease and his father gave himself into the charms of alcohol. Kovit and his sister parted ways, making the promise to each other to reach whenever they can and arrange an encounter when theyāre successful enough. Call it selfish, call it heartless ā but she couldnāt stay and help someone who didnāt want to be helped. His sister never specified who was she talking about.His teenage years werenāt too difficult, or so he says. With a great ability when it comes to convincing and lying that sometimes he thinks itās a superpower, along with his enhanced thievery ā he makes it through the day. Needless to say that the ability he owns to manipulate what others say works as the cherry on top, making cops say heās free or that he didnāt do anything.Ā
Of course, those glossy eyes of his work perfectly with his alibis whenever heās about to get arrested for something -he swears on his deceased mother- he didnāt do. He finds a place to crash after he escapes Bangkok and ends up in a city with lots of unknown characters that somehow he understands perfectly. He convinces a guy who works with computers to let Kovit join him, fixing computers when needed and hacking for fun. Sometimes he sits down and thinks about it.Ā
Why didnāt he choose the good path? Heās amazing with languages, he learns easily about something if it owns a language. Computers, objects, people. Why did he choose the bad path that makes him nothing else but a simple thief? Time makes him a troublemaker with the face of an angel. A thief who always finds his way out, who has a strong humanistic side and can understand numerous language.Ā
He makes you say whatever he wants to hear but thereās nothing else in store for him. Heās away of his future, jail probably ā so he just gives in and enjoys as much as he can, partying, lying, convincing and stealing. He faces present day by day, with his usual black hoodie and charming looks, waiting until time decides it will be his last successful move before his unavoidable punishment.Ā
