I often get lost in my head

I take my fears with me to bed,

I tuck them in and kiss them goodnight

every night I make sure I tell them

every single night

I tell them it'll be okay

I tell them that I'm not going anywhere

that they'll always find home where my PMs and AMs meet

between my night prayers,

between my covers

I promise to keep them safe

and hold them close to my heart

I know they need it because

my fears are often sleepless and exhausted,

so exhausted that they can barely carry themselves

I tell them it's okay and I let them lean on me

they're mine and so I hold them close and let them weigh me down

They're mine and I'm theirs and I can't just abandon them,

they never abandon me.

My fears take me with them to bed

they tuck me in and kiss me goodnight

everynight I wait for them to tell me it'll be okay

every single night,

they forget.
