Some words about history of music, Killerpilze and crowdfunding project
I'm that kind of people, who doesn't listen to music but uses it as a background for thinking. That's why I prefer instrumentals (lyrics don't disturb me) and foreign music (because I don't understand a word). However, other people like (mostly) listening to lyrics, to melody (or maybe sound of drums, who knows?), they really love to focus on music, to feel all emotions and energy. So, what I'm talking about. We (I mean modern people) are lucky because we have opportunity to enjoy music. Moreover, we are witnesses of a new era in music history!
Let's go back to past times. In 2010's we classify music into genres (rock, pop, jazz, blues, etc), but centuries ago it was classified by other criteria - social status. It means that you weren't allowed to listen to Mozart if you are a poor farmer (I don't mention organ music in catholic churches and of course it is not about oriental culture. Asians have their own music cult and their own conceptions). People of society's bottom had another kind of music. But now in the 21st century music is for general population, for everyone! Enjoy this moment!
Why I think we're on the brink of the new era? I want to ask you to have a look at Killerpilze. German guys have opened the gates! With their crowdfunding project on startnext.de they've showed us the process behind covers of albums and other stuff. I'm sure that's the future of music business! We are involved in the process of recording and we make ideas real. I'm not talking about fans but everyone who loves music. Music, independent music comes closer and closer to us. Listener becomes a part of music, which he/she listens to. It is a breakthrough, isn't it? More than 100 years ago jazz broke all barriers in society and gave us opportunity to enjoy music in spite of social status and social groups. In 1960's rock music gave us a new idea of melodies and lyrics. Music is developing and changing. Who knows maybe now, in 2014 Killerpilze gave us a new idea of music business and broke new barriers between original music and people?
PS: My English is not so good to present all my ideas about music development and music business. But I hope you, my dear reader, can agree with my point of view.
