Check out my latest painting! It was inspired by a photo taken by Jake Brass. It took some serious hunting but I managed to contact him for permission to use his photo as a reference. I'm so grateful to him and excited to share my rendition of his work. https://www.artbykpgarner.com/art/enduring-love

I am thrilled to share that I am taking part in a special exhibition at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in Post Falls, Idaho. The show is titled "Among Friends" and is a juried group exhibition celebrating the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts (of which I am a member) community of artists. If you're in the area, stop by and check out this curated collection of original artworks.
I was fortunate to have to have five of my pieces juried into the show! You can see them in the collage above.
The exhibition runs from March 12th through April 10th, offering a unique opportunity to view my art in person. All art is available to buy.

Iām so excited to share that Iāve won my first juried show with this painting titled: Edge of Day an 18 x 24 acrylic on cradled wood featuring bright colors, impasto, and glazing techniques.
The show is titled "Going Wild" and is happening this September at the Liberty Gallery in Spokane WA. It is the annual show for the River Ridge Association of Fine Arts or RRAFA for short. Iāve been a member since the first of this year (2025) and have loved every minute Iāve spent with this delightful group of artists.
Iām going to call this painting āMemoriesā in honor of my mother. I love painting yarrow flowers but was never exactly sure why. ļæ¼ I mentioned it to my sister after I finished this one and she said: āOh I know why! Itās because Mom and her friend Denise had a summer job once picking yarrow when we were young. I love it too.ā It made me realize that my love of yarrow was a seed planted in my childhood. Truly a gift from a mother I adore. I hope to create many more paintings of this beautiful flower in the years to come.ļæ¼

I finally got around to binding this quilt. Itās been draped over my long arm for a few weeks now. This was my first Homestead star. I started on it in a class on the pattern at Stitch! in Reardan, Wa. I used my Q 20 Bernina long arm and ruler set to both match stick and outline the stars in the pattern. I tried taking the quilt off and re-orienting it to match stick the inside of the star 90° from the outside. Iām not sure that I would do that again. I learned a lot about the best practices for starting and stopping mid quilting. Notice how you donāt see the back of my quilt? Itās kind of a mess Iāll be honest! Overall-Iām happy with how the quilting turned out and I know that if I choose to do it again, I will definitely do a better job.
My second Homestead Star quilt. This was created for a lovely lady I know who suffered a house fire just before Thanksgiving. She adores dragonflies so I chose the Dragonfly Illusions fabric line and a black background. I love how the colors popped. I tried to use the quilting to extend the star into all that empty space. It was my second time using a quilting ruler and I must say, itās harder than you think! I actually enjoyed the pebbling the most. The backing was donated by Stitch! Quilt shop in Reardan WA and the batting is 6mm bamboo.
Just finished getting this one scanned and posted to my website (artbykpgarner.com). It started as a golden hour painting of the Reardon, WA grain silos and turned into something a bit different.
Just finished this today. Itās a foundation paper pieced pattern by Juliet van der Heijden found in her Animal Quilts book. I scaled the pattern up 188% and used a solid background fabric in combination with Australian Dreamtime prints. For the quilting I freehanded a variety of leaves, feathers and flowers working from the bottom up, then from the top down I worked on the bird to give it some feathering texture. The backing fabric is peppered cotton and the batting is 6mm bamboo. Iām very happy with the end result.
Finally finished this late last night. It was my first block of the month from Quiltpatch Lane in Spokane. Of course the top took me more that two years to finish and itās been at least a year or so since then waiting to be quilted. Well that ended yesterday when I tried my first matchstick quilt pattern. I used 6mm bamboo batting from Stitch Quilt Shop. Iām excited to wash it and see how the batting reacts.
