like most of us know by now that 主人 (shujin) means master but also husband and owner-
it just still makes me feel insane.
he could have said 主将 (shushō) for a something that called to mind his position as cloud's commander/military leader or 主君 (shukun) for a nobility lord and master kind of vibe. he could have avoided 主 (omo) altogether and placed himself as cloud's 師匠(shishō), a teacher/mentor in the sense that he's guiding and leading and shaping him. there are like a million subtle variations on 主 (which means leader/lord/master even on its own) that don't also imply head of household domestic bliss.
but no he was like cloud i'm your HUSBAND you have to commit war crimes with me.
