Some lore things...

Ashley can sense when someone is interested at her, it's like one of her special gifts, it's natural for her to sense that Jacob likes her any way someone could think...however, she isn't aware of the whole stalking and extremely obsessive thing of him towards her, so she acts sweet and tender with him, since she also knows he is a lonely person, she resonates with that side of a person because she's also someone who isn't socially enough or active, she's very empathetic with people like her in that way, thus making her being less aware of the dangers to let any single people like this to gain her trust

she doesn't see someone dangerous in Jacob, she sees a guy that at times just needs a hug...and sadly, that's just her perspective

this whole "friendly n' sweet" side of her is what fuels Jacob's insanity every day and eventually will end in something very awful

She may act clueless at his "hints", this would be her demise...not noticing at time about what her "friendly" neighbor has planned for her
