[✝] —- Lara’s eyes widen in surprise when the man suddenly sits up and clutches his head, and she stands, gently placing her hands on his shoulders as she guided him back against his pillow. “Please, don’t make any sudden movements. I imagine you haven’t eaten in quite a while, and you inhaled quite a bit of sea water… you need to regain your strength before trying anything.”

She remembers the question he asked when he first awoke. “You are currently in a clinic on the island of Arcadia, and– huh?” Lara’s mind had been running a mile a minute as she attempted to explain the situation to him, but his last quiet admission gives her and her thoughts pause, and she frowns sadly at the man. “Do you truly not remember anything? Not even your name…?”

Did he have amnesia, or was he still just disoriented from waking up out of his prolonged sleep?

Kyle didn’t have much of a choice, he leaned back on the bed and tried to relax, but he had so many questions he wanted to ask... He didn’t have the energy to fight, nor to think for that matter... His throat began to sting, begging for water.

Arcadia... “I... I don’t recall this place.” Or any other place for that matter. “I’m sorry... I truly don--” Suddenly, Kyle couldn’t control his coughing fit, feeling the taste of the sea return to his taste buds.

“Do you happen to have some water..?”

Busy Busy || Julia & Open

Life was nothing short of hectic when juggling three jobs like Julia was. She woke up early this morning to help Charles with breakfast, though he was quick to shoo her away from the kitchen, and she was tasked with waking up Dia. Something easier said than done. It took roughly four tries to get her to wake up, but somehow she got her employer to get out of bed and go eat. 

She was also tasked with arranging a child’s room. Dia was planning on adopting a little girl, and was adamant on making the room perfect. Julia wondered sometimes if that was why Dia hired her to begin with, her eye for decorating or the fact she usually dressed in very girly very frilly garments. Either way, she spent a little too long arranging a large polished wood bookshelf and positioning toy pandas on the bed. 

Julia ate very little and was quick to excuse herself, booking it out the door with a tote bag that had two of her other uniforms in it and neither of her shoes on. 

And sprinting in soft silky socks was a bad idea, but with running behind on time, she had to make due. She awkwardly hopped as she managed to wiggle one of her shoes on. One down and one other to go. She focused on her shoe, failing to notice the person crossing her path and- 

She smacked into them. 

“Oh god, I am so sorry about that!”

Busy was the last think Kyle had in his agenda. Not having memories of his own made an impact on that. Now that he lives with Lara, most of his meals are made for him and honestly… She spoils him rotten at times, but he understands she’s just looking out for him. It’s natural for him not to have much things to do.

So taking a stroll around was one of his favorites hobbies. Sight seeing and recreating memories is his motive and goal from now on. He had given up on remembering his past… And honestly, wasn’t looking forward to remembering. He enjoyed being the person he is now, but something tugged at him…

Being caught up in his own mind, he didn’t realize someone had rammed into them, feeling a sting of pain on his chin. “Ouch–” Kyle rubbed his forehead and looked at the person in front of him.

“Ah.. It’s quite alright, miss.” Kyle smiled and bowed. “I apologize too. I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings!”

[BttP] The Man From the Sea || Lara & Kyle

[✝] —- Lara’s heart had almost jumped out of her chest when she found the man washed up along the shore.

The beach wasn’t even a place she usually frequented, but since work at the church ended much earlier than usual, the nun found that she had some free time on her hands. The calming shores of the Arcadian beach always served to put Lara at ease, and she took much comfort in the tranquil sounds of the lull of the waves.

What she didn’t expect to see was a man – unconscious and skin deathly pale – lying near the shore, unmoving and barely breathing. After administering basic first aid and stabilizing his condition with the help of her healing magic, Lara gets the man to the clinic with the help of some nearby guild members.

It wasn’t until later on that evening did the man regain consciousness, with Lara steadfastly remaining by his side that entire time. Leaving him while he was in such a state would be simply unheard of– not only was she genuinely worried for him, she also had to make sure that his near-death experience hadn’t had any lasting effects. Aside from a cold – which was most likely due to prolonged exposure to the cool sea water – he seemed to be relatively fine, and she could thank no one but the Goddess for that.

Though the condition in which she found him did beg the question… just how did this man end up in such a terrible state? Was it the result of a failed voyage? Or… something else? Also, Lara couldn’t quite place what it was, but the man seemed to possess a strange aura about him. Some unshakable layer of malevolence that gave her the strong urge to gag. A dark, foreboding presence that was not unlike that of a curse…

She doesn’t have much time to ponder on it, however, as the man begins to stir in that moment. “Oh!” The nurse gasps, leaning forward slightly to smile down at him. “You’re finally awake, I see. How are you feeling?”

‘Kyle, you have to wake up! This isn’t like you!’  That voice... It sounds... Strangely familiar... 

‘Don’t let it consume you! Fight it! I believe in you... My son.’ Son? Is it... My father? So I have a father. I wonder what he was like. ‘Listen to your father, Kyle! We don’t want to lose you!’ A woman’s voice... That must means it’s my mother. It so soothing, just hearing it makes me smile... But I don’t understand? What do they want me to fight? I’m in pure darkness. In this world that I’m in, there’s no one around. No memories, no emotion, no light... It’s pure darkness. Who am I suppose to fight? Tell me, Father... Mother... ‘Honey-- He’s getting out of control! We gotta do something!’ Mother? You sound really stressed. Did I do something wrong? ‘I know... Get the priests and everyone from our family, we have no choice... But destroy him.’ Destroy? Then I really must be doing something bad... ‘Are you insane?! He’s OUR son! How can you--’ ‘WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE! I know he’s our only son! But it’s him or the rest of the world!’ Father is right, mother... Although I don’t understand what is going on, but I’m sure I’m doing something terrible. Don’t be sad... I will always look out for you. ’Leave our son alone you demon!’ But... I am me, mother... ’He belongs to me, now. You pathetic humans will never seal me!’ Did... Did I say that? Why can’t I remember anything? .... ... Mom? Dad? What’s happening?! I can’t hear you anymore...  My body is burning... But I can’t see where it’s coming from! Please, help! ... Mom? Dad? I can’t remember anything... I can’t remember your faces, our memories... Who am I... I can’t remember who I am... What’s going on? My body is going numb. I can feel magic slamming my body, but it doesn’t hurt. Everything is turning black now, Mother, Father... Please, don’t forget about me.

After weeks of battling within himself, Kyle’s curse was finally sealed... But at what cost? His family couldn’t find his body after the war, and could only guess for the curse’s last attempt to survive, used Kyle’s body to escape deep into the ocean never to be heard of or seen again. Kyle’s body arrived at Arcadia, barely alive. The red haired was barely conscious when someone who looked... Awfully familiar... approached him in panic. All he could muster before he passed out again was... “Mother..?”

Once he was stable, Kyle woke up, feeling the light blinding his sight. “W... Where am I?” Kyle sat up, but his head didn’t like that very much...

“Damn... It hurts...” Kyle held his head gently, in hopes it’ll calm the pain. “I can’t... I can’t remember anything...”
