"CREAK"
Laying on the Apartment Rooftop floor; half empty bottle of rum on her hands; blurry vision, foggy mind, numb body. "Ugh, my head hurts" she said as she tried to stand and manage to do so. The wind was so refreshing as she walked towards the stairs down her apartment, yet it was too dark there. Holding the railing tight as she walk down the stairs. The door was now closed making the stairs darker.
She stumbled down the stairs, her hand clutching the cold, greasy railing as each step echoed with a sinister creak. The darkness grew denser, almost palpable, and the air was tainted with an unbearable stench of rot. Her breaths came out in ragged gasps as she tried to focus on the flickering light at the bottom.
Suddenly, the light went out, plunging her into a void so thick it felt suffocating. Her heart pounded in her chest, and she felt a sudden, unnerving presence behind her. She spun around, but there was nothing, only the crushing blackness and the oppressive silence.
With a deep breath, she forced herself to move forward, her feet slipping in the ooze that coated the floor. She reached for the door, her hand gripping a handle slick with an unnervingly warm, viscous substance. As she turned it, the door creaked open slowly, revealing a corridor lined with grotesque, swaying sacs.
She took a tentative step inside, her foot landing in a puddle of something wet and cold. The sack closest to her burst open with a sickening pop, spraying a dark, foul liquid across her face. In shock, she wiped it away, but the sensation was not just on her skin, it felt as if it was seeping into her very being.
Her breath caught as the corridor was suddenly illuminated by a blinding flash of light. In that split second, she saw the true horror: a twisted, contorted figure standing inches away, its eyes glowing with a predatory hunger. The figure lunged toward her with a guttural snarl, but as quickly as it appeared, the light vanished, and the corridor was swallowed once more by darkness.
She sprinted forward, her heart racing. The walls seemed to close in around her, coated in a dark, gelatinous substance that reached out, as if trying to pull her into the abyss. A sudden, sharp noise a shriek or a cry erupted from somewhere behind her, sending her into a panicked sprint.
She reached a room, the floor covered in a grotesque, tangled mess of what looked like remnants of once-human forms. Her feet slipped and stumbled over the bodies as she tried to move toward a flickering light in the distance. As she approached the light, it abruptly went out, plunging her back into suffocating darkness.
A sudden, icy draft swept through the room, and she felt something cold and clammy wrap around her ankles. She looked down to see a hand-like appendage emerging from the floor, its fingers clawing at her with a relentless grip. She screamed and tried to pull away, but the appendage tightened, dragging her down into the muck.
In a final, desperate move, she saw a glimmer of light from a nearby mirror. She stumbled toward it, only to see her own reflection twisted in terror. But in the reflection, behind her, a figure emerged, a shadow with eyes that glowed with an unnatural light. As she turned, the figure lunged, its grotesque face filling her vision.
The darkness closed in, and the last thing she felt was the suffocating grip and the shrieking cacophony of the living nightmare. The ultimate horror was not just the relentless terror but the realization that it was endless, that she had become part of the nightmarish realm, trapped in an unending cycle of fear and suffering.
