Hello and goodbye! And I'm really sorry! I've lost muse for my characters and have decided to take a break from this RP for a little while. It has been an awesome run and I've had so much fun and made such amazing friends!! Been here since April!! 3, 813 posts later and Kyung-won has grown in very interesting ways! But they're very tired and so am I. Life has taken a weird turn for me and after my time away I've found I couldn't recover my muse. So! While I've decided to take a break, I'm leaving it open ended should my muse return!
Kyung-won has accepted a prestigious internship in NYC at the United Nations. They've decided to finish the term online and go to North America early and support Rudy through his family difficulties. They will have discussed the internship with all their friends and loved ones, but the leaving early is a bit of a surprise, but they would've talked to each of their friends about it before moving. They aren't going anywhere without saying goodbye! And they're going to stay in contact with everyone they love through texting and calling and skype and basically everything. Everyone should expect care packages full of American snacks and candy and chocolates as well as kitchy NYC souvenires.
If anyone would like to stay in contact with me please send me a message on KW's blog as I won't be deleting it or anything. I have kik and skype and a personal blog and an RPH blog so if you want to plot how the goodbye goes or whatever, please let me know!
This was not the first time Kyung-won had picked up and left home with nothing but a few week’s notice. Well, that wasn’t true. This was truly a moment’s notice. The plan had been to leave after Christmas and start their internship with the New Year. While everyone was disappointed, to say the least, they were for the most part understanding. Kyung-won was being exactly who they expected them to be, who they loved. Helping out a friend in need. They would miss Kyung-won, but Kyung-won believed they would miss them even more.
They watched the city flash by as Rudy drove them both to the airport. Their heart in their throat since Rudy had put the car in drive.
“I’m really excited to meet your family. I mean, I’m sorry about your dad, but I’m still excited,” they said, twisting and fidgeting with the hem of their shirt.
“They’re really excited to meet you, too. Dad did say this was all a ruse to get me to bring you for a visit.”
Kyung-won laughed. “He didn’t have to have a heart attack to get me to visit. He could’ve just asked.”
“He’s not the most sensible man in the world.”
“Reminds me of someone I know,” Kyung-won mused thoughtfully, feigning innocence at Rudy’s chuckle.
Kyung-won checked their phone. It would be long before it stopped working. Rudy said he would put Kyung-won on his family’s plan so they would have a working phone. Of course, they had protested, they could pay for their own plan, but as always, Rudy won out. And really, the thought of being officially included on the family plan made them feel all warm inside.
Besides, Rudy had explained, living in the city was really expensive. It would just be easier for them, and Rudy would feel way more comfortable, if they had one less thing to worry about. After all, they would be all on their own again. They’d come to Darlington on their own once upon a time, but they’d lucked out where roommates were concerned. Both Rudy and River had shouldered most of the rent and bills, and they’d gotten along famously with all of them. What was next? An apartment shared with at least two people, maybe more.
Kyung-won was scared. But, they were also excited. This was their dream opportunity, and they would have their best friend in the world on the same continent. That had been the worst part of getting the internship, realizing they would have to be an ocean away from Rudy. They had very nearly decided to stay in Darlington, but it was too big an opportunity to pass up. Plus, if Rudy had found out he would’ve been absolutely furious.
Despite their heartache, they were brimming with excitement for this new adventure. Really, there was no way they could start an adventure this big without Rudy by their side. They just wished they could keep the rest of their friends close. They counted them off in their head, holding the faces of Liam, Viktoriya, Bonnie, Jason, Lily, Garrett, Bo, Johanna, Beck, and so many others in their mind’s eye. The love they felt for all of them threatened to overwhelm them. Kyung-won attempted to brush a tear away without Rudy noticing. But, Rudy’s hand found theirs. He stroked their knuckles with his thumb.
“Don’t get all teary on me, babe. You’ll make me cry.”
Kyung-won sniffed. “We can’t have that now, can we?” They gave him a brave, watery smile.
“It’s not really goodbye, after all.”
“If you use Dumbledore’s words against me now I’ll cry so hard,” they warned, the threat of tears clear in their voice.
“Sorry, sorry,” Rudy said, a chuckle playing about his face. He squeezed Kyung-won’s hand.
“Really, though. You’ll talk to them everyday and you’ll skype them, too.”
“I know, I know.” They passed a sign that read “You Are Now Leaving Darlington. Come Visit Again Soon!” “Ah,” Kyung-won breathed. “There it goes.”
“There it goes,” Rudy repeated. There was something strange in his voice.
Kyung-won squeezed his hand. They knew how much it cost him to leave this place. “On to the next adventure, eh?”
“That’s good to know,“ she replied, showing a soft smile. "Did you not get enough sleep last night? I just don’t know how a person can just randomly sleep on a bench.”
“No, not really. Said goodbye to a friend, spent the night with her. And I’ve been busy packing for a trip.” They yawned again. “I was waiting for the bus, but I suppose I’ve missed it. Ah well.”
Studying hard is probably the worst thing you can do. I got through college without studying once. Then again, that’s probably because I went to a fucking art school. Nothing important happening for me. Just trying to find an actual job other than starving artist.
Yes, well this isn’t art school. And I’ve been working on getting this internship, it’s basically a dream come true... I think I’ve gotten it, too. I’m really excited.
“Sounds exciting.” They wrung their hands. “Um, I fell behind in my classes and I’ve been working on applications for internships... Visiting a friend under house arrest. I’ve been really busy. It paid off, though. I’ve gotten a really wonderful internship.”
“It’s okay, Dandelion. I think you gave me a mini heart attack, but I’m just glad you didn’t actually fall,” she smiled, joining them on the bench. “A lovely day, really, but if you’re so tired, why aren’t you in bed?”
“I was hoping to catch a bus and visit a friend. I think I missed it though.” They draped an arm over her shoulders and leaned on her. “Sorry I gave you such a scare.”
Asher sat down next to his friend and nodded. “I couldn’t do it.” He said. He glanced over at the book that Kyung-won had given him and then looked at them. “What made you want to do this?” He question. “Always been into reading?”
“Oh, I’m sure you could! In fact,” they shrugged, “they’re hiring right now. If-if you’re still looking for a job.” Kyung-won thought it would be so much fun to work with a friend. And maybe Asher would learn to love books like they did. “Mm-hmm! There’s nothing like escaping into a whole new world sometimes. Be whoever want to be! Plus,” they chuckled, “I’m a huge nerd and I love language.”
“Ya shouldn’t, but luckily ya had me to save ya from getting hurt.” she let out a small laugh. “And anytime, hun. But why were ya sleeping in public in da first place?”
“I’m very tired,” they sighed. “I have been studying extra hard and taking more shifts.” They yawned. “And I’ve been working on internship applications.”
