Still watching Jem for the first time and the reveal of South Philly Italian Princess (tm) Roxanne Pellegrini was *chef's kiss* a blessing on my house.

What were those accents on the locals, the roads are massive, I guess those were supposed to be the rowhouses she grew up in but right next to the Ben Franklin Parkway? What catholic high school do you think she crashed out of after stealing extra bags during pretzel day? Roxanne Pellegrini smoking behind the Wawa at 11pm with my cousins. And of course the giant free illegal street party starts a riot when they run out of free stuff.

As a Philly born and bred recovering catholic I have absolutely met this woman. I loved it, I made my mother watch it, such a gift thank you Jem And The Holograms

Apparently this chanterelle was described back in 2010 but science is always catching up with itself, it now has an official taxon page on iNat!

Subperforatus essentially means “partially perforated.” Iirc it’s been used to describe mushroom spores in the past? Where spores kinda looked a little more smooth. I think it was first used to describe a spore with a double-wall where the inner wall had columns that would poke partially through the outer wall.

“Mino [Mino, Japan] Lantern Festival is a weekend affair that shuts down several streets in a rustic timeless area of the town. There are several hundred entries that use paper to construct lanterns. Mino is famous in Japan for the beautiful paper products or washi.  The dark streets are lined with one lantern more elaborate then the next. The paper is twisted and folded in ways you couldn’t imagine. This globe shown is rather simple (if making several dozen paper cranes is simple), but it shows the depth of time that some makers have dedicated to their lanterns.
