There are some out there that won't like what I have to say but I'm too pissed right now to give a shit.
To the people out there who are glad about Roe vs Wade getting overturned because you think that banning abortions will be saving the lives of unborn babies and that the people fighting to keep abortions legal are just people fighting for the rights to kill their babies, you're wrong. That's not what this is.
Abortions will keep happening whether they're legal or not. The difference is that getting an abortion legally is safer than getting one illegally. This will only cause the death rates to rise because of all the people who got pregnant and died trying to get an abortion, killed themselves because they can't handle being pregnant and can't get an abortion. It's happened before and it will happen again.
Maybe you don't care about that because you think it's what they deserve for even considering an abortion, but it's not just them.
There's also the ones who died because their pregnancy wasn't viable and the only way they could keep living is if they had an abortion, but they couldn't find a doctor willing to give them the life saving procedure because they didn't want to put their job at risk.
I keep hearing people say "They should have kept their legs closed!" but it wasn't like that with everyone. What about the ones that were raped by a random man on the street? Or someone they thought was their friend? Or even one of their relatives? Just bring raped is mentally damaging, and being forced to carry a baby that was conceived through rape can be even more damaging than that.
I've also heard people say "Just give the baby up for adoption!" but that's not always a good idea. Adoption is the alternative to being a parent, not being pregnant. It can be dangerous being pregnant. It can damage your body, make you lose teeth and hair, change your hormones, and change the shape at the least. It's even worse with some people. With some people they become allergic to things they weren't allergic to before, ranging from mild allergies to things that they rarely ate at all to deadly allergic to things they ate all the time. Some even become allergic to their own skin.
With my mom she was high risk for both me and my brother. She was bleeding the whole time for both of us, ended up going on forced bed rest at some point in both pregnancies, and she says she didn't die and/or miscarry with either of us. She was LUCKY.
What about the women that do want to give birth to a baby only to not realize until after getting pregnant that there's a very high chance they'll dying and don't want to take that risk? Is that baby's life really more important just because it wasn't born yet?
What about the ones that find out early on that the baby will die in the womb no matter what? What about the ones that found out late into their pregnancy that the baby died at some point?
If abortion is banned it bans even the ones that are medically necessary.
What about the women who miscarry? There is no way to tell the difference medically between an abortion and a miscarriage. People who miscarry will end up getting arrested. It's something that's already started happening. If you don't believe me then look it up yourself.
I used to be prolife. I know how you think. You think that banning abortion is saving the lives of babies because their mothers didn't want to keep their legs closed, but that's not what this is. You're only thinking of all the babies that would get to live if they weren't aborted while not considering the consequences it will have on the person carrying the baby.
This isn't about people wanting the right to abort an unwanted pregnancy because they don't want to kept their legs closed. This is about the adults, teens, and children who got pregnant after being raped. This is about the people who are unable to carry to term and the safest thing to do is to have an abortion. This is even about the people in abusive relationships who choose to have the abortion because having a baby with their abusive partner will make them even more trapped than they already are because trying to escape an abusive situation while pregnant or with a child is harder than without.
