I don't know, how about switching it off?
Have you tried turning it off, and not turning it back on again?

I learned at an engineering conference recently that one crypto mine in TX, 100s of MW, makes more money off ERCOT demand response markets than it does off crypto
repeat: TX ratepayers pay them more to sometimes stop mining than they make by actual mining just bananas misuse of power markets
kids these days are spending too much time modifying their reproductive organs into intriguing shapes and giving them bright colors and other pollinator-attracting qualities. back in my day we simply put many spores into a wind or water current and were happy if they made it a quarter mile..... didnt bother with any of that stuff. i remember when we would all take root in a wet patch and throw our spores around, but have you been to a wet patch recently? its disgusting, is what it is
Folks a gymnosperm came up to me he said - and he had tears in his eyes he said Mr President what they’re doing to these gametes is awful and it’s is it’s just awful folks. Look at this, they call this a “fruit” *holds up an apple* they’ve got this *crowd boos loudly* that’s right folks this is what they’re doing with gametes now, they’ve got this “apple” and they want animals to eat it so they can sit back and let the animals do all the work! *crowd boos again* well we don’t need that do we! Gametes getting carried around by a dog. Sad!

I have since been informed the producer did do the funniest thing ever because the bracelets are made of brass 🤣

unbelievably obsessed with how the juniors realize ‘mo xuanyu’ who is meant to be a bumbling idiot and embarrassment to his family is incredibly powerful, brilliant, and clearly very close with lwj, and they barely question it they’re just like yeah sure that checks out, moving on!
#I like to think that lwj raised sizhui to value the sorts of traits wwx embodies#which is obviously on one hand a way of memorializing the member of their family sizhui can’t remember#but on the practical implication side would require lwj to pick sizhui up from lan class and immediately undermine 70% of what he learned#lwj voice always follow the rules except of course for when the rules are bad or perhaps you don’t want to. btw reanimating the dead is ok - @looking-for-wisdom
I like to see it as a consequence of Lan Wangji raising/influencing the juniors to be open-minded in a way that will accept Wei WuXian on purpose.
It was society, ultimately, and their inability to examine the truth of a situation, to view things objectively rather than through the strict lines of debt and duty and class. There's no way he didn't realize that.
Lan Wangji is the Lightbearing Lord. He goes where the chaos is to ease the burden on as many people as he can. He always did that, it's in his nature and how he got his title, but in the past 13 years he's been actively teaching that philosophy so that the next generation spreads kindness and gratitude and one-step-at-a-time is now working to make the world a better place where what happened to Wei WuXian and the Wens is less likely to happen again.
The old guard is just the same, as Wei WuXian notes when they all turn on Jin Guangyao, but the upcoming new generation can look at a guy in facepaint wailing and rolling around and give him enough sincere attention and consideration to realize he's extremely competent, change their opinion, and come to trust and rely on him.
The next generation will be better than them, and then the next, hopefully. It's incremental, but very real progress that has demonstrably not been really possible by working in the established systems.
Lan Wangji is a guy that's pretty certainly going to cultivate to immortality and live centuries and millennia. Likely he's cultivating his mind for that scope of living as well and therefore thinking in this kind of vastly long-term for achieving his grander goals.
I genuinely think one of the way's he moved on and coped with losing Wei WuXian was by deliberately, hopefully taking a chance and investing/trusting to the next generation to make the world safe for future Wei WuXians.
All of the juniors that come into contact with him become very kind.
New York City ballet production of Midsummer Nights Dream
The fact this isn't a painting is a testament to one of the greatest feats of set design and production I've ever seen.
My god just look at this! The lighting, set design, photography... I've just never seen anything like it.
Last week I accidentally took an edible at 10x my usual dose. I say “accidentally” but it was really more of a “my friend held it out to my face and I impulsively swallowed it like a python”, which was technically on purpose but still an accident in that my squamate instincts acted faster than my ability to assess the situation and ask myself if I really wanted to get Atreides high or not.
Anyway. I was painting the wall when it hit. My friend heard me make a noise and asked what was wrong—I explained that I had just fallen through several portals. I realized that painting the wall fulfilled my entire hierarchy of needs, and was absolutely sure that I was on track to escaping the cycle of samsara if I just kept at it a little longer. I was thwarted on my journey towards nirvana only by the fact that I ran out of paint.
Seeking a surrogate act of humble service through which I might be redeemed and made human, I turned to unwashed dishes in the sink and took up the holy weapon of the sponge. I was partway through cleaning the blender when it REALLY hit.
You ever clean a blender? It’s a shockingly intimate act. They are complex tools. One of the most complicated denizens of the kitchen. Glass and steel and rubber and plastic. Fuck! They’ve got gaskets. You can’t just scrub ‘em and rinse them down like any other piece of shit dish. You’ve got to dissemble them piece by piece, groove by sensitive groove, taking care to lavish the spinning blades with cautious attention. There’s something sensual about it. Something strangely vulnerable.
As I stood there, turning the pieces over in my hands, I thought about all the things we ask of blenders. They don’t have an easy job. They are hard laborers taking on a thankless task. I have used them so roughly in my haste for high-density smoothies, pushing them to their limits and occasionally breaking them. I remembered the smell of acrid smoke and decaying rubber that filled the kitchen in the break room the last time I tried to make a smoothie at work—the motor overtaxed and melted, the gasket cracked and brittle. Strawberry slurry leaked out of it like the blood of a slain animal.
Was this blender built to last? Or was it doomed to an early grave in some distant landfill by the genetic disorder of planned obsolescence? I didn’t know, and was far too high to make an educated guess. But I knew that whatever care and tenderness and empathy I put into it, the more respect for the partnership of man and machine, the better it would perform for me.
This thought filled me with a surge of affection. However long its lifespan, I wanted it to be filled with dignity and love and understanding. I thought: I bet no one has hugged this blender before. And so I lifted it from its base.
A blender is roughly the size and shape of a human baby. Cradling one in your arms satisfies a primal need. A month ago I was permitted to hold an infant for the first time in my life, an experience which was physically and psychologically healing. I felt an echo of that satisfaction holding my friend the blender, and the thought of parting with it felt even more ridiculous than bringing it with me to hang out on my friend’s bed.
Watched a great talk today about web/technology accessibility, and the speaker pointed out that yes, accessibility is important for people with permanent disabilities, and we should definitely care about that. But also accessibility helps EVERYBODY, because everybody will, at some point in their lives, find themselves in situations that accessible technology can help with. Here are permanent, temporary, and situational disabilities that accessible technology can help with:
Remember that whether something is disabling or not depends on the situation, the environment, the technology, etc. We’re ALL disabled at some point. It is important to support permanently disabled people, but it is also important to remember that accessibility helps us all!
it’s still important to help disabled people even if abled people don’t profit from it btw.

One for sorrow Two for joy Three for a girl Four for a boy Five for silver Six for gold Seven for a secret never to be told
Eight for a wish Nine for a kiss Ten for a chance you must not miss Eleven for a wasp Twelve for a bee Thirteen for a coffee Fourteen for tea
Fifteen for a pencil Sixteen for a pen Seventeen to hear these options once again
Eighteen for pepper Nineteen for salt Twenty for an accident in which you were not at fault
Twenty one for Jerry Twenty two for Tom Twenty three - where are all these magpies coming from?
Twenty five no seriously Thirty this is weird Forty eight from where have all these magpies suddenly appeared?
Sixty two stop counting Seventy just run Ninety nine the revolution of the magpies has begun
Two hundred no more sorrow Five hundred no more fears One thousand for how long the empire of the magpies will last in years

Wear a fucking mask!
That last post is misleading. The green solid part is covid cases, the red outline is simply wastewater contamination. While the latter is high, the former has drastically dropped since the start of the pandemic.
The green solid part is indicative of "officially" detected and recorded COVID cases. The reason you see a drop-off is because the US government (and most official government organisations around the globe) choose to pretend COVID is "over" by simultaneously not testing and employing various means to suppress/misrepresent data of actual detected cases. This has been happening for a while and has been talked about, and is continually talked about, in spaces where people actually still give a damn about this pandemic.
Specific detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, not simply general "contamination", in wastewater data is pretty much the only reliable method that gives a proper overview of how the virus currently trends and circulates.
If you're still relying on the mainstream media and the government to tell you the truth about the pandemic, especially given how oh-so reliable and honest they've been about everything else that is currently happening in the world, then you need to wake the hell up.
If there’s a lot of wastewater contamination, then the virus is still circulating. We don’t know what that means as precisely as if we tested people, but it’s still an indicator and it’s still a bad sign.
Did she just support banning masks on the logic that "if someone's wearing a mask you don't know if they might have a gun?"

Why is Trump allowed to skip a mandated drug test?
i was playing scrabble and i had a B, U, R, G, E, and R and i thought “aha burger, one who burgs, but my mom will never accept that as a word” but then i remembered burger is actually a word
one time I played the word “am” and I thought, they can totally let that slide because of AM radio and A.M time.
then i remembered
Scrabble does things to your mind that you can never come back from.
I once was playing and put down ‘cow’ but in my mind I was saying it so it rhymed with ‘crow’ and I told my friend that it might not be a real word but I’m playing it and he can’t stop me and he looked me right in the eye and said it like how ‘cow’ is supposed to be said and I was so mad at myself I nearly flipped the board.
My brother played the word ‘scrabble’ and my mom said, “I actually don’t think that’s a word.” And I said, “yes it is? ‘scrabbled eggs’???”
One time my mom played “early,” and I was like: “What does that mean? Resembling an earl?”
I once completely mindblanked and had someone help me with any word and they put down foot. I immediately exclaimed foot, pronounced like shoot, but what does it mean.
This post never fails to make me laugh.
Putting this here because apparently Tesla wants it taken down and the og post was already deleted.
I saw a news story about how Teslas were slowing down early for a junction and it turned out the STOP signs were about 50% bigger than regular, and the car brain which has no LIDAR or other depth sensing tech other than smooshing several camera inputs together was just assuming the signs were closer and so needed to be stopped sooner.
lol, lmao etc but someone in the comments posited ’Hey maybe a TESLA just sees a child as an adult who is further away and thus there’s no need to brake just yet’ *THUD*
It’s just Muskbrained enough to be the truth.
