âA sure sign of a manâs strength is how gently he loves his wife.â
â (via aazizam)
And Iâm missing my husband truly deeply
When you decide to bring a child into the world you are deciding to love for the sake of Allah.
To raise a child to know Him.
To love Him.
To worship Him.
When you move from being just husband and wife to also being father and mother your relationship shifts. You no longer have to think about only each otherâs happiness but also your childrenâs happiness.
You both sacrifice for your children and make decisions which, you pray, will allow them to be happy, kind, compassionate, giving, and pious human beings.
You both put your hearts on the line. When you hold that little one in your arms you each feel that there is nothing you wouldnât do in this world to protect them.
But then you constantly fight in front of them.
You put each other down in front of your kids
You allow coldness to develop between the two of you.
You blame each other and shame each other.
And your children hear everything. What they donât hear they feel. They perceive. They will know.
To love your children is to be good to your spouse. To treat them well and to honor them.
And if that means reaching out for support when going through a hard time itâs worth it. The time, money, and effort you make in saving your marriage translated to your children too.
As parents we often think weâd do anything for our kids until that âanythingâ means having to grow and change ourselves.
Here our egos are selfish and stand in the way.
Children donât need perfect parents. Parents that get upset and then repair things also model problem solving skills.
Hearing the occasional squabble isnât going to harm them for life because they will know that love is also imperfect.
But when coldness, fighting, and tension becomes the norm it impacts everyone.
Why not give them so much more?
A marriage is always a work in progress but the effort, the sacrifice, and the time invested to make it better as time goes on will not go unnoticed by children.
To love your children for the sake of Allah is to also focus on âhalf your deenâ in marriage too.
Because one day they will grow up and be someone elseâs spouse.
