When you decide to bring a child into the world you are deciding to love for the sake of Allah.
To raise a child to know Him.
To love Him.
To worship Him.
When you move from being just husband and wife to also being father and mother your relationship shifts. You no longer have to think about only each other’s happiness but also your children’s happiness.
You both sacrifice for your children and make decisions which, you pray, will allow them to be happy, kind, compassionate, giving, and pious human beings.
You both put your hearts on the line. When you hold that little one in your arms you each feel that there is nothing you wouldn’t do in this world to protect them.
But then you constantly fight in front of them.
You put each other down in front of your kids
You allow coldness to develop between the two of you.
You blame each other and shame each other.
And your children hear everything. What they don’t hear they feel. They perceive. They will know.
To love your children is to be good to your spouse. To treat them well and to honor them.
And if that means reaching out for support when going through a hard time it’s worth it. The time, money, and effort you make in saving your marriage translated to your children too.
As parents we often think we’d do anything for our kids until that “anything” means having to grow and change ourselves.
Here our egos are selfish and stand in the way.
Children don’t need perfect parents. Parents that get upset and then repair things also model problem solving skills.
Hearing the occasional squabble isn’t going to harm them for life because they will know that love is also imperfect.
But when coldness, fighting, and tension becomes the norm it impacts everyone.
Why not give them so much more?
A marriage is always a work in progress but the effort, the sacrifice, and the time invested to make it better as time goes on will not go unnoticed by children.
To love your children for the sake of Allah is to also focus on “half your deen” in marriage too.
Because one day they will grow up and be someone else’s spouse.

Drown your sorrows in sujūd.
if someone is feeling upset, depressed or suicidal, can they talk to you? if yes, please reblog this so they know they can message you.
I hope when I have kids one day that I teach them to see religion as a source of comfort rather than a chore or something that they believe because I tell them to
study for your future. study to prove others wrong. study to make your parents proud. study to change something. study to reach your goals. study for yourself.

“You swallow hard when you discover that the old coffee shop is now a chain pharmacy, that the place where you first kissed so-and-so is now a discount electronics retailer, that where you bought this very jacket is now rubble behind a blue plywood fence and a future office building. Damage has been done to your city. You say, ‘It happened overnight.’ But of course it didn’t. Your pizza parlor, his shoeshine stand, her hat store: when they were here, we neglected them. For all you know, the place closed down moments after the last time you walked out the door. (Ten months ago? Six years? Fifteen? You can’t remember, can you?) And there have been five stores in that spot before the travel agency. Five different neighborhoods coming and going between then and now, other people’s other cities. Or 15, 25, 100 neighborhoods. Thousands of people pass that storefront every day, each one haunting the streets of his or her own New York, not one of them seeing the same thing.” - Colson Whitehead, The Colossus of New York
