One have asked, “ what is the difference between secrets and lies?”. And one said, “They are just the same, but the lies are more complicated and more immoral than the secrets.”. Maybe some of us were thinking the same way. From the people’s logical sense, maybe secret and lies are similar, given that they are both veiling something towards someone. But know this, Secrets and lies has a big difference. They are different, from how the words are spelled, to its diction, and up to its definition.
Secrets means kept from knowlege of others, a mystery, a riddles. On the other hand, lie means something said that is not true or a falsehood. Based on their exact meaning, they have the same aspect about hiding or to hide something but we can say that they are completely different.
To better understand, think of the situation where there are non identical twin siblings. They have different face but sharing the same traits given that they are twin and both came from the same genes. Now can we say that, those twins are the same people?. Of course not. They are twin and has a similarities but we can’t say that they are similar because they are different two persons. They can’t live as each other. They can’t be in one body nor live with the exact same personalities.
They said lies are immoral. Well, that is definitely true. Whatever lie you have heard ar said may it be a good or bad, a lie is always been a lie, no one can change it. Even a white lie is also a lie.—an untruth. As long as that is not the truth, and you said the contrary of the truth, then it is a lie. A statement without a hint of sincere-nest, and it is bad and evil. Secrets are simply hiding something or the truth without saying anything. Keeping your knowledge about the truth on your own by not telling anything that is contrary of it. This look moral and not complicated compare to lying. Because in lying, you will intended to make one person believe what you were saying and keep on denying the truth. Lying is always intended. While in secret, you won’t deny, confirm or correct anything.
But one also said, ‘Sometimes, we need to make a lie for us to keep our secret untold’. Well, that is the sadest part. Truth is, the secrets are the more complicated than the lies. How? simply because our secrets can possibly turn into a lie. Sometimes we are afraid to let the other know about our secrets, reason why we can’t avoid lying for them to not dig in more. Disappointedly, secret is the most reason why people are lying. And that reason is just to protect. Protect someone, protect something.
But as i’ve said previously, a lie is always a lie. It is evil and immoral. May it be a good or bad, nothing will change. So be careful keeping your secrets. Remember that lying can never be a safeguard but the truth is. You don’t need to lie to protect someone nor something. If you wanted to protect someone, just tell them the truth. Easy to say than done, but that is the only way to save you from evil and save them from heartache and resentment. If you are keeping a secret and can’t really tell or say it, then just let them find it out on their own. Don’t give them false information but atleast a hint like what a riddle have.
We all have our own perspective about something. But we shouldn’t be confused about the real meaning of a certain word. We should always know the disparity between the secrets and the lies. Everyone is different so as the words you might hear.
