Zenigata let out a sheepish laugh, head bowing a bit as if trying to apologize. Her positive attitude was admirable– flattering, even– but with his guise taken down so quickly, he couldn’t help but blush in embarrassment.
It always felt strange, being told to relax… Realizing that others truly cared about him, about his health. He had a bad habit of pushing himself until he broke, though with a job like this, it came as no surprise. The weight of the Lupin case rested solely on his shoulders; it left little time to rest, if any. Not that he really minded all that much. But he supposed the same could not be said for others. If he couldn’t take care of himself, then those close to him would, whether he wanted them to or not.
“Hah… By all means, then. Lead the way, Ms. Bresson.” The inspector said, managing another smile.
Laetitia relinquished her hold on the Inspector’s arm with a smile, glad for his answer. She had so much respect for the man! She fully intended to do her best for him, but she also couldn’t resist the urge to show off a little.
She led him on a tour of the campus, eagerly pointing out all her favorite places. Boston University was built along the Charles River and was especially picturesque that time of year. Black cherry and white oak trees in full, lush green shaded well-tended walkways between stately brown brick buildings dating back as far as the 1900s. Laetitia seemed to know the history of every part of the campus, which was hardly surprising considering her major. She was obviously immensely proud of her school too, gushing about her professors and classes.
It wasn’t too long before she almost talked herself horse. She wasn’t normally such a chatterbox; she was just so happy to have someone she admired to talk to about the school she had dreamed of attending for years. The only thing she didn’t mention was friends or free time. Apparently Zenigata wasn’t the only one that neglected their social life.
“How – “ Laetitia has to stop and clear her throat as her voice cracks a little. She chuckles in embarrassment and tries again, “How about we get something to eat? My treat!” She really should have asked him if he was hungry before she dragged him around campus, and now she felt a little bad for that. At least the diner she was thinking of was only a couple of blocks away.
