I really don’t like (as does everyone else) the “b-but it’s wrong! We’re b-both men” lams trope because it’s sooo generic with the internalized homophobia. It’s the nondescript 18th century gay men trope where they’re sad and depressed because it’s wrong according to their society.
What I do like, is when they’re sad/angry/depressed because of the rules society has set. They don’t care if it’s “wrong”, they just want to be with each other without fear. They can fantasize about being domestic and spending their lives together without society telling them what to do, but they know it’ll never happen. It’s two men desperately in love with each other and sad/angry/depressed knowing they can never be, because of society.
