Awareness - Mando x Reader
Pt. 2!!!
Kinda fluffy, no smut, but I'm almost done with the final chapter and yes it's smutty. Hehe enjoy and see you in a bit for the finale!
‐--------------
It had been a couple days since your night with the rather touch starved Mandalorian. You had completely fixed the cryochamber of the Razor Crest and Din would be back on a mission soon. The New Republic always had jobs for him now.
You hiss as you pull your hand away from another ship's control models. The zap of electricity left your fingers buzzing. You were quick to put the tip of your finger in your mouth to try and ease the pain.
The sound of the ship's side door creaking drew your attention. You look to see your favorite Mandalorian without his green fledgling. You irk an eyebrow at him confused as to why he's here.
"What's going on Mando, miss me already?" You say with a slight chuckle. The two of you agreed that you should only use his real name in private.
Din walks over to you quietly and takes your hand. He brings it close to his visor observing where you were zapped.
"Are you okay?" He asked his modulated voice letting through a bit of worry.
"Of course I am." You move your hand to intertwine it between Din's gloved digits. Giving it a slight squeeze. "I'm not that fragile."
His helmet slightly tips down to your hands and then back up to gaze at your face. "We need to talk cyare." His voice was back to its normal more serious tone.
"Oh? Did I do something...?" Your voice trails off quietly as you try to pull your hand apart from his. However, Din held you firmly, keeping you from letting go. You look at him a little annoyed at the mixed signals. "I-"
You were cut off by Din quickly letting go of your hand upon the notice of someone else boarding the ship. You give him a small smile before quickly moving past him to meet your current customer.
Kenth Felian was a new cargo runner for your small town and his ship had recently needed some tune ups. Even though he was new to town, he wasted no time trying to get "familiar" with all ladies. You included. He was never aggressive after you shot him down, but his lack of ability to take a hint will always be bothersome.
"Hey Kenth, I was just about to get you. You're ships all ready for your next job." You say.
Kenth smiles back and looks around his ship, his hands on his hips. He takes a step closer to you, to which you respond with a slight step back. You look around back to where you were chatting with Din, and noticed the Mandalorian had disappeared. You could still feel his gaze on you, watching from the shadows. Surprisingly, you were growing accustomed to his hunter like gaze, watching over you like you were his next bounty. Kenth called your name, his tone slightly annoyed.
"Distracted much? We're you able to figure out why my steering components weren't responding? I know I mentioned my ship not shifting into gear quite as smoothly as it used to."
You nod your head to show Kenth acknowledgement of his questions. You also fought back the urge to roll your eyes. He was a new customer yes, but he would come and check on your progress every day you had his ship like he didn't trust your work. If you were any richer, you would've told him to take his business elsewhere, but credits are credits.
"Yes I found frayed wires, couple loose screws, and I updated the module. It runs smooth now. As far as your shifting, you basically needed a transmission service." You dust off your hands and tap on the wall, the metallic noise bouncing off the walls. "She's all taken care of."
Kenth gave you a sly smile. "Perfect! As for payment, how does dinner and an amazing night afterwards sound? I promise it'll be worth it."
You roll your eyes at the comment. "No. I'll take the rest of the credits, thank you.".
You go to move past him, but Kenth is quick to grab your arm to hold you in place. You wince at his surprisingly strong grip. "Let go."
"I don't understand. Is there something wrong with me?"
"What? No, just let me go or else." You look down at your waist, hoping that you had a heavy tool that you could knock him upside the head with. Kenth tries to pull you closer.
"There just has to be something."
You look at Kenth with disgust and disbelief in your eyes. What is it with men and rejection. You were about to swing at the man when he was suddenly yelping in pain. You look gratefully at Din as he was twisting Kenth's arm around his back. Pinning it against him, freeing you from his grasp. You grimace slightly at the painful sight.
"Ow what the fuck." Kenth yelps as he's pushed against the wall of his own ship. "Fuck man I'm sorry."
Din doesn't say anything to him and instead pushes him back into the wall and stalks over to you. He puts his hand against the small of your back, turning you around, and leading you down the ship's ramp. You begin to look back over your should to see Kenth trying to get up and follow you both. Din is quick to unholster his blaster and fire a warning shot, right before his feet. You hold back a giggle at the protectiveness turning your gaze back on the Mandalorian.
"I didn't think you were the jealous type." You say a teasing smile playing on your lips.
"Do you often take on such chakaaryc scum, as clients?" Din asked annoyance and slight anger evident even through his helmet.
"Not often. Most end up with broken teeth or worse." You shrug your shoulders trying to play off the slight shakiness you felt from the event. You were strong and confident in your ability to defend yourself. It just doesn't get easier no matter how many times you have to actually do it.
Din responded with a gruff grunt as you both continued to your home.
You both arrived at your place fairly quickly, a sigh of relief left your mouth as you walked into your cozy abode. You left Din's side and pulled down the blinds of your windows. You had few, but you wanted to give Din more sense of security if possible. The Mandalorian had sat himself at your table and was watching your every move. That familiar of being stalked etching itself on your skin.
You tuck a piece of your hair behind your ear and sit at the table with him. Your hands found themselves in your lap as you subconsciously played with your thumbs.
"So, where's Grogu?" You asked, missing the mischievous fledgling.
"School." Din's response was quick. You were starting to get worried about this conversation. "I have a mission, it's further than usual so it may take longer for me to complete."
"Oh?" You were a little confused. Usually when Din was ready to leave, he'd come by the ship and have you check out his ship, then he'd be on his way. Your look must've caused Din to worry as he began to explain himself.
"I just thought- you might think-," he sighed and then started again. "I will be coming back."
You bit the inside of your cheek. Maker he was flustered, your opinions and thoughts were making him worried. It made your heart flutter.
"I can check out the Razor Crest later this afternoon." You went to get up but stopped. "You know, I'm aware of you right?"
The Mandalorian cocked his helmet to the side. "What do you mean?"
"I mean I know what you do, what you are, WHO you are." You lean your face in your hand and smile at him. "You don't have to be worried about me. I already know my Mandalorian's the best in the business."
You felt the cheesiness of the comment as soon as you said it, but it was worth the chuckle that came from Din's modulated helmet. He gave you a nod, and you both continued as normal. When it was time to leave, the addition of him placing the top of his helmet against your temple left you smiling. You touched the place where the cool feeling of beskar metal lingered. You couldn't wait till he got back.
___________
You definitely couldn't wait until Din got back. Currently, you were at the bar with your best friend Liza, whom was ordering you shots of something dangerous. She nudged you with her elbow.
"Stop looking so down, we're celebrating my engagement!" The shots are placed in front of us, Liza quickly thanks the bartender. "Besides it's only been a week and a half. Usually it at least takes 3 for this to happen." She places a shot in front of you.
Your raise an eyebrow at her. "You know we've celebrated your engagement at least once a month since he got down on both knees."
Liza gave you a playful glare while picking up the alcohol. You follow suit. "And we will keep celebrating until the wedding day. "
You chuckle, cheers, and down the drink with her. The two of you enjoy casual conversations about wedding prep, the shops profits, your night with mando, and just catching up. Your giggling was interrupted when a man cleared his throat very obnoxiously.
Liza gave you an annoyed glance as you both turned around to see Kenth and a couple other randoms behind him. You rolled your eyes and sat with your elbows propped up on the bar. Liza sat up with her legs crossed, a cutesy smile on her face. She was feigning innocence.
"To what do we owe the displeasure." You said disdain obvious in your tone.
"It's amazing that even while your Mandalorian is gone you still got a smart mouth on you." Kenth looked over his shoulders at the other men that were behind him. "What are you going to do without him to protect you?"
"I can still kick your ass. Mando or not."
Kenth tsked at your comment.
There were three men right now in front of you, and off to your side you could see 1 or 2 lurking in the shadows, ready to jump in. You felt a little honored that Kenth thought that this many men would cause you to struggle. You lean over to the smiling Liza.
"Is your future hubby gonna mind if we trash his bar?" You whispered trying not to laugh. Liza responded by shaking her head, trying to contain herself to not look like a maniac.
"He's very quick to forgive me. Is your Mandalorian okay with... this?" Liza gestures to your relaxed stature and then pointed at the men just standing. You shrug.
"I haven't told him yet."
Liza chuckled and gave palmed at your response.
"You think this is a joke?" Kenth yelled, trying to sound threatening but you started ignoring his voice, getting tired of how it made your ears ring.
You swirl your drink in your cup some more before downing it in one swig. The alcohol burned your throat but you didn't care, you were about to get some relieve some stress. "I swear, I'll-"
"Alright!" You yell, cutting him off mid sentence. "Let's just get this over with." Your hand was quick to throw the glass directly into Kenth's face. It broke as soon as contact was made, causing several shards to dig into him. His screams filled the room. While Kenth held his face in pain, the other two men rushed towards you. Both Liza and you picked up the bar stools you were on and smashed them on the charging men.
You watched as Liza gleefully stepped on the man she just pummeled, spinning on her heels to avoid the other one barreling at her from the shadows. A yell coming towards you took your attention off the girl. You were quick to side step to avoid a tackle and punch the man square in the nose. Then your knee followed into his stomach sending him flying into a table. Your eyes scan the room looking for your friend. You see her finishing off the goon she was messing with by flipping him out of a window. You cringe as you watch him get launched. You were about to head over to her when Kenth runs at you with a blade in his hands. Your hands automatically go to your stomach ready to brace for the blow, but before Kenth can reach you, he falls to the ground.
You watch as his descent happens in slow motion. As Kenth goes down you see Din standing with his blaster, smoke barely coming out of it. Your feet felt glued to the ground in this moment. You look at the mess you had made of the bar and suddenly you know what shame is. You feel your ears grow warmer. You averted your eyes downward not wanting to look at Din. He hadn't seen this side of you yet, you could only hope that he favored a stronger woman, rather than a damsel in distress.
You felt a gentle push on your back, causing you to stumble. Liza stood by you with a shit eating grin, and gestured to look forward. You felt firm cold leather on your arms and looked up to see Din. You sheepishly muttered a hi to him. He nodded to acknowledge your words before scooping you up and throwing you over his shoulder.
A yelp of surprise came out of your mouth. "No. Mando put me down." He made you feel very light with how easily he was carrying you, but you felt like you were in slight danger. "Please"
Din didn't respond to your pleas to be let down, even though you were more than capable of walking on your own. Giving up was inevitable with how stubborn Din was being. All you could do is wait to reach your destination and hope to the maker your Mandalorian wasn't angry with you.
A/n: Yeah! This was way too long originally, so I cut it in half. See you soon with smut and pillow talk in the finale.
