Two pairs of horns made this fall. Experimenting with different techniques, both are made out of an old yoga mat and the same base pattern.
The black ones warped on their own while the golden ones are fitted with wire. I kept the leathery texture of the mat for the black horns and added some ridges but tried to just have some slight texturing on the gold ones. Same goes for the painting, used some acrylics and black nail polish to seal some little mishaps on the first pair and add some glossiness on the ridges while I went with the spray paint (with a layer of acrylics) route for the gold ones. Overall I’m more satisfied with the outcome of the black horns, they look more natural and it’s easier to overlook little mistakes with all the details. Though with some work on cleanliness the gold ones would be very satisfying to look at. Considering that I’m working with what I have laying around it’s not so bad.👌
Very happy with the lightness of them though, my very first pair of horns was made out of foam and plaster and boy were they heavy, @hellsmates can testify. The black horns are now theirs btw. We’re a good team of demon spawns now (my secret mission it to fit all my friends with horns). I wore the gold ones on Halloween night but they kept falling from my head, turns on they stay better on foreheads than on heads.🤷
