Growing up, I always hear the line “nakaligo kanaba sa dagat ng basura” without even realizing what it really means, does it mean there is a pile of trash on the ground and play on it? No, it has deeper meanings to it. It is literally ocean or seas are covered in trash, and that is not uncommon here in the Philippines. I am always very sad at the same time disappointed as there are a lot of ocean species that are getting killed everyday not because of fishing, but because of the piece of trash that YOU probably threw randomly on the ground beside the ocean. I know it may not be affecting you now, but it will give a big impact to the future generations. I am here to SPEAK UP! I know this is not the most life changing act that I will do, but I want to encourage you to help us rebuild our oceans, give chance to our fishes, and protect the gifts that the nature gave us.

This semester is full of hardships and difficulties, but learning is still important. MIL is a subject full of information or rather information that says how information is. TBH I did not learned a lot but I learned enough. Everything I learned is important but the thing that stays in my mind is the awareness it gives to students. Media today are very easy to access but should be acknowledge a lot. we should know how we use our media today as this is a very scary place.

Everything we do in the media we have today, we should be careful and mindful. It will not only help ourselves as we use it, it will also help others who use it. Use your mind, just use it.

THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF LIBRARIES???!!11!!

Libraries are where most students studies or read books such as novels or the encyclopedia. And I thought that a library is just a library and its all the same. 

There are four types of libraries; the Academic Libraries, Public Libraries, School Libraries, and Special Libraries. Academic Libraries are used or built in schools that serves colleges and universities. This kind of libraries has more academic related books in them cause I discovered that some students in universities use the library as their study ground for self. Public Libraries are the one that everyone can easily access. School Libraries are same to academic libraries however, it is built to schools that only serves students from kindergarten to grade 12. And lastly Special libraries are the type of library that is built for people who had a hard time to visit the local library, this is built in hospitals, military, private business, and the government.

Traditional Media that correlates with literature such as newspapers and radios or TVs are one of the biggest influence a human can invent for people’s evolution. Although I only had a small time to experience the reign of this product, i appreciate and like the benefit it did to my life. By listening to radios I discover many songs and even listen to some stories of other peoples through it, and instead of watching Detective Conan, I was forced to listen and watch to news because my mom has the remote. I learned that this technologies are part of the traditional media and the life I have now is where New Media will come in.

This kind of media is very important to people to this day. There are a  lot of media in this kind of media and it is very different compare to traditional medias. This also made things easier and faster and more convenient to people who has access to it.

STOP!! Body Shaming >:(

Body shaming is still on our society and it has to stop. My drawing shows a person who is getting choked by a hand. The hand represents the people who shamelessly criticize others’ body in front of them or behind their back. and the person being choked represents the victim who is dealing with the cruel thing called body shaming. The quote “simple words can kill” simply means even the slightest word that come out of your mouth that may mean nothing for you, it may affect someone’s dignity. We may know it or not, body shaming can kill just like how cancer does. Although this single photo do not have the power to remove a big issue like body shaming, but let this small act the beginning of stopping this cruel thing. Let us all help each other, we, together can make these small acts big and slowly progress and stop the issue. STOP body shaming.

Evolution of MEDIA :)

Evolution is one of the important thing a human being should do in order to move forward. Without it, we would might be still living under a rock and still learning to make a fire. As we human evolve, we try to upgrade our things that we use in our daily lives such us our technologies. And as technology grows, we have acquired the usage of media which is used by almost all people on earth. But media was not always been advanced, like we humans. As people has traditional events, media also has traditional media and technology and new media and technology.

In the Pre-Industrial Age's (1700s) media is so old that they consider writing in solid rocks to use as their media. That way they can share the information that they gathered to others to help improve the society.

After that, Industrial Age (1700-1930s) was present and technologies were a bit more advanced than the pre-industrial age. Newspapers are one of the important and useful media to use back then because printing was invented on that age.

Lastly, Electronic Age (1930-1980s) was the age where technologies are more advanced and electronic gadgets are invented. Some of them are familiar to everybody today however, people do not use those early invented gadgets today as that do not fit with the environment and society we have today. But back then, it was very useful and even though it is not as useful now as it used to be, it is fine as it is part of the evolution that helps human to grow. Radio and televisions are invented in here and that is the most used source of information they use.

Is Media Important Today?

We had an activity where we were asked how would we give information if technologies’ existence are zero percent and how would it affect our lives. Our group answered with “We will use letters and emails to give information to others.”  We decided that the best way to give information is to give emails and letters so that the information can reach far distance. There are also a lot of ways to give information without using technologies such as simply talking to others and saying the information. in addition, there are also hindrances to these which is time and false information. In sending letters, time is the main problem of the situation where the receiver might get the information late and in telling the information, miscommunication is possible that can lead to false information. Though the solution may be easy but it was harder than using technology and media.  I am not saying that it is not possible to send letter, its just harder compare to just typing and sending an email to someone. The main affect it will do to me is that it will be harder for me to manipulate the information on who will receive it and how or when will the receiver receive it. In conclusion, there are ways to do to give and receive information without technology but it is easier to do it with technology as its main purpose is to make things easier.
