61: What is beauty?

Do you ask about the beauty of a woman? Whose voice can calm your heart at your worst and inspire you when you are tired.. Or her impossible figure, which is laced with just enough mystery to keep you around. Maybe it is the smell of her perfume when she walks by, or the gentle touch of her hand. Or perhaps she is not gentle, but fierce, with callused hands and a chilling smile; a terrifying beauty. 

Shouldn’t King David, of all people know this better than anyone else?

Then there is the beauty of the world, where the sun rises and sets each day - it is beyond my comprehension. From a grazing doe to the hulking behemoth and from the leaping salmon to the leviathans of the sea; this world, and the worlds beyond this one are to you, a beautiful creation.

What of the beauty of life? Where a human struggles to accomplish themselves within their brief lifetimes. I suppose I have been blessed in this prospect, and I dare say I have accomplished all I wanted, well, except for one thing.

What is your opinion on death, David?

“Scathach!  You’re finally awake!” He said as he scampered into the room. “Look I got you some stew!!” He handed her a bowl that smelled rather fishy. 

“I also got some other stuff with the money the fishermen got us! Wait right here!! It’s a surprise!!”  He said, as if Scathach would actually go somewhere. He ran back out of the room and came back in, carrying a new backpack. 

“I bought a new backpack!! And~~” he opened it up and poured out at least 30 birthday candles out of it. “I bought us some emergency candles!  Isn’t that great?!”

“Oh yeah. Also!  I found out our location.” He took out the map.  “We’re right here.” he said, pointing to a small village near Acheron River.  “So that means we aren’t far from Sin City at all!”

Scathach sits up and leans back against the wall, letting out the most exasperated sigh her tired self could muster. The ridiculous candles have her gaping at Flat, then the candles again.. Although with a loud grumble from her stomach, her attention is drawn towards the stew. 

An orange soup, with a red crayfish sitting in it. She takes a deep whiff of the strong aroma of seafood and exhales happily. It was a nice smell - although she would probably eat anything at this point. Without a second thought, she wolfs down the stew. After a satisfied “Ahh..” she finally starts talking.

“Thank you for taking care of me, I’m feeling much more alive with food in my stomach, although it’s been an age since I’ve felt ‘hunger’.”

She pushes herself forward, leaving the blankets to sit on the edge of the bed. All while shaking her head profusely.

“I will ignore the candles, or rather I wish I could ignore them... Anyways, we are lucky aren’t we.. But I would rather rest today than to travel, unless there is another way?”
