Thankful I'm Starting My "fight" Again
https://youtu.be/xo1VInw-SKc My personal life and migraines has been arduous these past months. I'm thankful I'm starting to find it in me to fight to feel better and get self care...I'm thankful for my family and friends supporting me.
I Talk about My Pain Because
I don't want you to feel alone if your migraine, or chronic pain experience is new. I want you to know that there are solutions and the right combination may take years to find. I want you to know that anything is possible with modification, self love, and self belief. I want you to know that it is ok to hold your head high and ask for help, or bury it into a pillow when necessary. I want you to know that others people pity for you does not have to become adopted as your own. Only you can write and modify your personal story. I want you to know to lovingly accept all offers of help when you need it. It allows you to receive love and the other person to give love. I want you to know the moments you accept yourself completely others will follow. I want you to know there is always something small or big to laugh, or smile about. I want you to know, you are loved.
Grandpa and Gratitude
Both words begin with G R, I would like to express gratitude to Grandpa Art for being a wonderful grandpa, dad, friend, and man. Thank you for buzzing the school where your mom and future wife worked with your B-29 getting both of their attention. Thank you for persuading grandma to marry you. Your marriage with her began a legacy that includes four children, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and counting. You left a legacy behind of many wonderful lessons taught by example, one of them being patience. I still remember getting the golf cart at the lake partially stuck in the swamp, you calmly went and pulled it out, more driving pointers were given on how to be a better golf cart driver, and the driving adventures were just over for the day. Thank you for always being a willing interview subject for all of your grandkids when the topic of WWII needed to be written about. Answering even the most inquisitive of questions, an example: what did you do when you needed to use the bathroom? Thank you for teaching us all how to drive a golf cart, later on some of us how to become expert parkers (parallel and 90 Degree back to name a few), some of us how to golf, others play cribbage, the love of reading, and many other lessons I cannot begin to list. Thank you for sharing your two getaways at Winterhaven and Lake Vermilion. Thank you most of all for your constant love, hugs, prayers and wonderful memories, I love you grandpa, you will be missed, but never forgotten. Thank you for being a father, grandfather, and friend to be looked up to and respected. I love you.
This Week...Thankful for Pin Curls
Been a so, so week. However, I have had some awesome hair on and off. This week, I am thankful for my stylist who taught me how to do pin curls. I am also thankful for the moments of truth I have been given this week, icky or not it has been a learning experience. Like I said last week gritty gratitude is better than no gratitude. Love and light.
Gritty Gratitude
I know I haven't written about gratitude on a Thankful Thursday for a bit. I have my International Economics class on Thursdays and it is an adjustment in my schedule. Anyhow...Gritty Gratitude acknowledging gratitude even when not so fun stuff is happening. There have been family emergency moments of Gritty Gratitude these past couple of weeks. I had the worst migraine I have ever had in 2015 ;) that included moments of grit grat...also there were some at work also. I have learned to just say thank you, or stay silent and look for the thank you later. Sometimes I still get flippant and saucy, but I'm thankful I'm moving forwards and not back. Love and light.
Migraine Pivots
It has been rough since Thursday...ready to come out of this fog and move forward and onwards. Found these pivots that I had written a long time ago, they helped. Enjoy.
Physical Fitness Accountability
The first week of 2015 brought a renewed dedication to physical fitness for both my friend and I. We both set our intentions and agreed to hold each other accountable. For me it is twice a week or more of cardio activity in or outside the gym. If I do not meet my intention I have to give her a stone or crystal valued at $5 or less. If she doesn't hit her goal the same thing. It is fun having someone hold you accountable even if your workouts are not done together. Have you found an accountability partner yet?
I AM Thankful for Family, Friends, and New Opportunities for Abundance
Today I was off from work, I was able to schedule a meeting about a possible new opportunity, and it went extremely well, and I am looking forward to seeing how it develops. On my way to visit with my parents, I was driving behind a car that looked like it was going to lose control completely and spin out on the highway, luckily it only fish tailed a few times and regained control, I'm thankful that persons car stayed in one piece, and mine as well. Finally I got to visit with my parents for a bit, and hopefully diffuse a bit of tension with humor, hugs, and love. At the end of the day, my dear friend gives me a ride to the airport, and I got to chat a bit with her almost two year old, who it seems may have a gorgeous singing voice someday. The gushing of gratitude is not over yet...when it seemed like I was going to have to cancel my vacation, and any plans out, my friend welcomed me into her home for a few days. I am looking forward to a few days of unwinding, relaxing and reconnecting. Hopefully in that time, I may figure out how to get my blog to look a little more like I want it to, but it is a work in progress. If only one person takes the time to read this I am thankful. Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015
I am thankful for everything that has happened to and for me in 2014. I am looking forward to more of the fun stuff, and less of the icky stuff. I will post some of my intentions too later on. I am also thankful for the people who read my ramblings. That you 2014 onto 2015.
I Am Thankful for My Family
This Christmas has been a rocky emotional one for me. Today I got cuddle time with my nephew, and time with my extended family. I was also allowed just to be me, and no one tried to cheer me up, or make it better. I am so blessed to have a family and friends who get me, and accept me in all forms, that is what I am thankful for.
My Heart Was Shattered At Christmas, Please Be Kind...
December 2010...my world as I knew it came to a crashing halt. A fight, then emails, then a divorce request, finalized in July 2012. Before that Christmas was my favorite holiday, the spirit of giving and love all around, but now at times it is a reminder of what could have been, and what was lost. I understand more now the people that hate Holiday time than I did before, for I lost my Christmas spirit and finally it started coming back after time. I no longer apologize for my emotions that I feel around Christmas time. If I am telling you, I do not feel like church, or being around people, other than the ones that are in my close personal circle, do not take it the wrong way. I now mourn and rejoice at Holiday time. Reflecting on what I lost, but at the same time realizing what I have gained. The gift of self discovery and love, for if my divorce had not happened, I wouldn't have been forced gently down this path. Be gentle towards others, be kind and be loving...one phrase I try to avoid, "it is the holidays/Christmas, you are supposed to be happy." It doesn't matter the time of year sorrow, pain, and sadness creep up on us at the most inconvenient times, the brave ones go through it, the ones not ready yet, block it. Just remember that you are loved by multitudes of people, and that it will be ok. It is Christmas, I love you and your non Christmas Spirit, and I offer you a hug from afar. Merry Christmas.
Readjustment of Habits
The gallon of water a day, made it half way...think I am going to drink a half gallon first for 21 days, then increase. The acupuncture is on track and without it I do not know where I'd be. I am more active, but not as much as I want to be. I also completed a full semester of grad school. Migraines do not let them determine what you can or cannot do, find the work around, your own path. What are you doing for yourself that is healthier today.
Gingerbread Houses, and Quality time = Gratitude Moment
I had the challenge of creating a gingerbread house for myself and a coworker for work. She has a broken finger so I took her ideas and spent quality time with my mom who helped me. Unexpected moments with my mom are the best, dropped by to show my parents my cool rental car, and had unexpected cuddle time with my nephew. I feel blessed to have the family I have. What are you thankful for today?
I Woke Up, I Gave Up, I Won
Today, I won. I woke up with a migraine, the body and spirit did not want to battle through the day. I listened, and because of that I won. It is bred in us to worry about others before ourselves and the perception others may have regarding situations and scenarios without asking the person in the middle of it. The moment one worries and cares for themselves first so they can better love others and not worry about someone's perception of their situation, that is a win. In spite of this pain I still love and adore myself. Back to bed...
Finding Gratitudae in a Tumultuous Day
It all started last night a weird reaction with vitamins leaves my tummy not happy and restarts the migraine I just stopped as well. This morning woke up for work, decided to go in late to get my migraine and tummy better under control. I am thankful I gave myself permission to care for myself than push myself. I am thankful for my acupuncturist who took the edge off of my migraine and my tummy ache so I could get a few hours in. I am thankful for a text from a friend who needed to talk as much as I did and also picked up the whole tab. I am thankful for a roommate that allows me to nurture her and nurtures me as well. The day started off rocky and was throughout but I was able to find gratitude as things to hold gratitude towards came forward. What are you thankful for today?
Water Logged Update...
I have been good keeping to the gallon of water a day...I even believe having this intention in place stopped a monster migraine from becoming worse. Normally I sometimes forget to eat or drink water or both, since I had the water intention in place, I went for it and hit my goal. Not easy but I am doing it. What are you doing to take a step towards healthy.
I am Thankful for my roommate
After a longer day and some unexpected news. I am told to close my eyes and lead into my room. She had cleaned and organized my room. The Universe gave me something to be thankful for on a day when I was having a hard time finding gratitudae. For that I am thankful.
