I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever be the kind of woman who gets out of bed to write. Who pulls herself from the taffy of his arms for the melodic hum of steady type.

I saw an injured bird in the yard today, and it wouldn’t let me help it. So I still let the dogs out back. They had to pee. What else was I to do?
