okay but little note here
frisk and chara have no specified gender, meaning people can headcanon them as whatever gender they want, so please stop forcing the nonbinary headcanon as canon bc its not
srsly im tired of people being attacked because they interpreted their frisk as a gender other than nonbinary,,,,

Random Thoughts about RP Blogs
Every now and then, I see a topic come up in the FFXIV Tumblr fandom that people are upset that their RP blogs/characters/etc don’t get more notice. Sometimes, this delves into being frustrated at “popular” Tumblr users. This takes on many forms, but I see a lot of frustration that people do put a lot of heart and soul into their characters, only for them to be “glazed over” for art posts instead. So I wanted to talk a little about some stuff I’ve experienced, and what I’ve seen, and some suggestions I have for things people can do to help get their blogs a bit more interest. Disclaimer: This is purely from my experience. I am not singling anyone out here, as this is an accumulation of a few years in the FFXIV Tumblr fandom and just my observations. Your mileage may vary.
1. First up, Tumblr is a very visual-heavy medium. Even the best-written of posts will typically get lost in favor of art/photo posts, just because art is easier to grab attention with and requires little “investment” return on the viewers end.
Writing, while no less artistic an endeavor, requires some investment to get anything out of, and some people are just not willing to put that time in.
A way to help combat this is to find some images to attach to your post. A lot of roleplayers will do this, finding related images or gifs and inserting them as a header, or throughout the post to make the post more visually appealing to someone just scrolling through their dash.
It doesn’t have to be super involved, but images will grab people’s attention quite a bit more than a wall of text will. You do not need to be an artist to go take a quick spin on Google and grab some relevant images to whatever it is you’re talking about and pepper a few into your post. I have been super invested in some people’s rp stories because I was scrolling through my dash and saw interesting images/gifs along with their written blurbs. Visual stuff pulls you in in a way that just huge walls of text don’t.
2. Secondly, a lot of roleplay blogs have precious little information about their characters in any kind of easily accessible place. What I mean is: It’s probably a really good idea to have an “about me” post someplace and have a link on your sidebar that directly goes to this page. Or have an RPC wiki page (or some other sort of character display page) that you can link to. I recommend a tag for your character as well, and use it heavily in anything about your character.
If I am a total stranger who is brand new to your blog, I need to have an easily accessible way to find out about your character.
This is especially true if you want people to send you asks or interact with your character in any way on Tumblr.
For a long time, back in the earlier days of my blog, I used to send and request more asks for my character. I stopped doing this as my blog got bigger because a lot of people would send me asks and I had no idea who they were.
This pops up a lot when people use a sub blog and have to send asks from their main, and I had no idea who their character was in-game. I would have to let these asks sit and rot, because I had nothing to go on to reply to them.
Some people would send from their character blogs, but again, had very little information and without anything to go on…I couldn’t really figure out how my character would interact with theirs. Over time, this happened so much, I just decided to stop posting asks that required interaction with people.
I cannot recommend having a bio enough for rp bloggers. Even if you don’t know much about your character, that’s okay! You can always come back and add more into it later. Some great characters have started off with a very bare-bones concept.
3. If you want asks, send asks. A lot of people (myself included) are pretty bad about this one. You see a cool prompt on Tumblr and you reblog it, hoping someone will send you a fun ask about your character that you can answer. That’s awesome! But…I bet there’s a pretty good chance you didn’t send the person you reblogged it from an ask. Some people are good about this, but I’d wager most of us aren’t. So as a courtesy, I’d strongly recommend if you reblog an ask prompt, you kindly send the person you reblogged it from an ask about it! Also note that the more asks you send, the more visible your blog name will be, and the more likely you are to have people see you and probably want to follow you/send you asks. It’s a nice “scratch my back” kind of thing, there. But Shofie, his sounds like a lot of work!
And well, that’s because it is.
But the “popular” bloggers didn’t get that way without working for it, one way or another. Yea, some folks can make gifs, or do art, and it can sure feel like that’s “the easy way” if you’re preferred artistic medium is writing. But there are ways to can help get people to give your writing a second look.
4. Try to keep your RP blog focused. This is a big part of why I have my @shofie-irl blog. If I see something that catches my eye, but doesn’t relate to FFXIV or Shofie in any way, I put it on my irl blog. This keeps my blog at least related, and more or less clutter free. Coming back to an earlier point, I also tag my shit pretty heavily on this blog so it’s easy for people to find related posts about my character. If I have to sort through a ton of posts on your blog to find anything about your character, I’m probably going to lose interest and nope out. Remember, the more clicks someone has to invest in your blog, the less likely they are to get involved with you/your character. Make it easy for people to find information.
5. Try to keep posting content that relates to your character on a regular basis. By this I mean screenshots, head cannon blurbs (which can be like fun self-prompts) or just little thoughts, inspiration posts, or doodles, etc. Basically, stuff to let people know you’re still there and kicking. Just stuff to keep yourself fresh in people’s minds. Every single post you make doesn’t have to be super serious or even have a reason per se, if it just relates to your character (like screenshots are a great example of this.) Just keep pumping life into your blog one way or another, but try to keep it relevant.
6. Use Read More cuts sparingly.
This was some advice I got way back when in the Livejournal days. The short version is: when you use a Read More cut, the message you are sending is, “This isn’t important, you can skip it.” And that’s exactly what people will do.
It could be debated there are some exceptions to this, like truncating very long posts or if your content is NSFW, but I’m speaking more generally when a lot of people just Read More stuff that could be fine outside of a cut.
If you are worried your post is too long, feel free to Read More part of it, but don’t cut the whole thing, or people won’t bother. Again: The more clicks someone has to invest, the less likely they are to do so. I myself tend to Read More for length on my RP posts, but I also try to make sure I leave enough outside of the cut to draw people in, and then do a cut on a sort of “cliffhanger”. This helps generate just enough (hopefully, anyway!) curiosity that people will want to finish reading the story. But I don’t put the whole thing behind a Read More cut.
7. Please don’t embed music on your blog. This one may be controversial but I’m gonna toss it out here anyway.
There is an exceptionally high chance I am going to have my own music playing, and your music will clash with it. There is also a high chance your music will be jarring. I have no way of knowing if someone’s blog has music playing on it until I go there, and it’s always an unwelcome surprise.

I have never, ever, in the entire history of ever, in the 20-some-odd years I’ve been using the internet, ever enjoyed surprise random music. I will, if I encounter music on a blog, immediately shut the window that blog is in. Please keep in mind that there are a lot of people who will probably feel the same way.
I can understand enjoying some music so much you want to share it. I can understand music relating to your character, or conveying a tone. But when your music autoplays and you shove it down my throat…I will peace out. Please don’t do this. If you insist on having music on your blog, please be cognizant of how it may be perceived, and please please please don’t have it auto playing. —
So…this got long, but I feel like these are some tips that could help any new or struggling bloggers to help maybe get a little more interest for their characters and writings and stuff. It’s not easy, especially starting out. And it can be difficult even more experienced bloggers to keep the pace up. Maybe some of this will help you out, maybe it won’t. Feel free to take or leave my advice as you will, but worst case, giving some (or all) of these a shot probably won’t hurt, and if you don’t get results, you can always go back to the way you were doin’ things before.
I love music. I love sharing music that has inspired my characters. I love linking music in some of my stories. But I hate auto-play music on blogs. I especially hate it when the player is super-tiny or I have to do some Where’s Waldo scouting just to turn the damn thing off, because I always have my own music going.
I’m so glad I’m not alone on the music thing. I’m always listening to my own music then SUDDENLY random music clashing with it. ;.;

What the fuck did you just fucking say about my falcon game, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Captain Falcon academy, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret pawnches on Master Hand, and I have over 300 confirmed smashes. I am trained in wavedashing and I’m the top brawler in the entire US Smash league. You are nothing to me but just another skrub. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this arena mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of smashers across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, noob. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your stocks. You’re fucking smashed, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can smash you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my boots. Not only am I extensively trained in spiking, but I have access to the entire movelist of Captain Falcon and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of Final Destination, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn scrub. I will boot-spike all over you and you will plummet from it. You’re fucking smashed, kiddo.
Breaking Hiatus (Sorta)
Hey, everyone! So, surprisingly enough, I didn’t quite fall off the Earth totally, I’m still around, and I’ve decided on what I plan to do from here.
The plan-
From this point forward, this blog is gonna function as a main hub for both my Undertale-related RP blogs. This means I’ll likely change the URL soon, and the theme as well.
What does this mean for you?
If you want to hmu and RP, I’ll be bringing links online soon that go to my Undertale blogs once they’re ready to go. I simply need a way to keep everything organized cleanly for myself, and this looks like the best plan for that.
Thanks if you read all this, and I hope to be writing with you soon! ^u^

Time for a True reset
So, anyone who’s been watching this blog has probably noticed a sharp drop in RP. Honestly, my muse for the character has fallen to nil, mainly due to dissatisfaction with my own portrayal. After quite a bit of consideration, I decided I want to reboot the blog and character completely. For now, RP is closed until I launch my new starting plot. Any RP before this is considered non-canon to the blog. So, to anyone reading this- this is farewell to my current muse, and I hope to RP with you in the future, with my new version of Frisk/Tee!
