At some point in his confusion, Adam decided to try and get some fresh air outside– and that’s when things began to make sense. With a newfound admiration for the moon, with a newfound sense of familiarity, he basked under the strange glow it put off before realizing what tonight was.The Super Blue Blood Moon. He’d read about it, once, but even then he never imagined it would have this kind of affect on him. He was, after all, nothing more than a husk of a man. Adam was fully functioning but that didn’t mean he was fully alive– he’d always assumed mysteries like this would skate around him and yet here he was; changing as if he were made like the rest of them.
Blinking up at the moon, his once dark green eyes shifting into a brilliant amber, he let himself linger for a moment before making his way back into the bar. Now that he wasn’t panicking it almost felt easy to control his new senses; his new impulses and desires. He almost felt normal again, despite what this night was. “Sure,” he replied back with a soft smile, the tone of his voice raspier than usual as he took a seat next to the stranger, “I could use a drink– and it looks like you almost need one too. How about this… you buy mine, I buy yours? That way we’re even?”
Well that suggestion was a pleasant surprise. Maybe the man was fairing better than he had originally suspected. Gideon mirrored the other’s smile and nodded in acceptance. “Okay, that sounds like a fair deal.” If he had been more aware of just what he was he would’ve been more careful with the words he said. All he knew was that his affinity to lightening and ability (or curse as he saw it as) to turn into stone was gone. The wings on his back should’ve been a big indicator of what he was now, but the lack of fatigue had been too enticing for him to double guess what was going on.
Gideon looked at the bartender and motioned for another glass for himself and knew that he wouldn’t have to reiterate what the stranger and him had just agreed upon. Patrick always had a good ear on the patrons, but the man gave Gideon a peculiar look for a second. That caused his smile to slip but he pushed past the forming question. “Has the night been going well for you?” It was an innocent question since he had seen how many people have not been fairing well so far.
