when athena first joined the group, cassandra was WARY of the girl. the undead girl had to ( protect ) murphy from all the dangers of the world around them. it wasn’t until she realized the other wasn’t a THREAT that cassandra backed off– if only slightly. cassandra sits in a crouching position, chestnut eyes ( roaming ) around her surroundings for any sign of murphy. he had told her to STAY put and keep watch on the others. and that’s exactly what she had planned to do. without him, cassandra was NOTHING. and the hybrid couldn’t shake the feeling of dread buried in her still heart. her focus is only briefly broken when the other settles beside her and words ( slip ) from her lips. the dark haired girl lets russet hues glance TOWARDS the other before shaking her head and turning back to keep FOCUS.

“ He’ll be back. No need to worry about that. ”

She sighed internally, because really, Murphy was more a pain in this group’s ass than anything. But she knew that he wouldn’t have told Cassandra stay if he didn’t intend on coming back. Murphy could be a jerk, but he wouldn’t be that cold...

{ At least, she didn’t think he would be that cruel. }

A part of her wanted him to stay away, but that was the selfish part. Athena knew that they needed to get him to California. She also knew that Cassandra needed him.

She looks up, allowing emerald hues to settle on Cassandra once more, empathy clear in her eyes. Athena worried about what might happen if Murphy stayed gone for too long.

“ And if he isn’t back? We’ll go looking for him. ”

Since Athena had tagged along with Warren and the others, she had grown fond of the group. She considered them almost like a second family, even if there were some... strange additions.

Cassandra was one of them, but Athena had been told not to fear her. So she didn’t. Courage is everything to her.

It was the first time she had seen a Z like Cassandra -one that didn’t try to tear her apart at any given moment- and if anything, Cassandra intrigued her.

{ If Athena was anything, it was CURIOUS. }

Green eyes glance toward the being and her head tilts slightly, examining her.

Murphy has been gone for the best part of an hour and had insisted Cassandra stay. He’d said he would be back, but Athena could see the other was getting restless.

With a sigh, she cracked her neck before breaking the silence with a whisper, just about audible.

“ How are you holding up? ”

Ever since Custer’s group, Athena had noticed the other’s proficiency with his sniper. She wondered if it had been a natural talent, or one that he had developed, like she had her skills with a shotgun.

She hadn’t had the chance to speak to him yet, so the small break from the usual mayhem meant she could finally get the chance to talk.

“ Your Sniper Rifle. Did you shoot before? Or after the whole... You know... ”

Athena didn’t like saying talking about the start of the apocalypse. It brought back memories of the early days, when she had her family. She didn’t like thinking about those times anymore.

Athena’s proficiency with a shotgun is nothing like it was in the beginning. In fact, she had found the shotgun back when she was still with her family.

She had accidently shot her father in the leg with it when she first used it. Because of his injury, it slowed him and her whole family down.

She is much more familiar with using the shotgun now, and considers it her most trusted weapon. But it’s also the weapon that harvests the most guilt for her.

If she hadn’t have accidently shot her father, perhaps her family would still be here today...
