NEW WAVES IN THE FUR INDUSTRY W/ SAGA FURS
Last week I visited Paris Premiere Vision with Saga Furs. During my trip, I had a chance to learn more about the history of luxury fur in fashion & new environmentally friendly ways to produce luxury garments with fur and the current state of fur industry.
Like any business, fur retailing has its challenges, and some would say the challenges have never been tougher. But despite the challenges, the fur industry keeps thriving and figuring out new innovative ways to produce garments with fur.
During my time at Premiere Vision, I managed to find beautiful samples of fur mixed with other environmentally friendly natural fabrics, such as wool, cotton, silk etc. but one of the many things that really stood out for me were the stools and chairs designed by German Fur Architect Thomas Albrecht, made out of Saga Furs. Not only are they incredible comfy to sit on, but also work as a beautiful decorative element in your home or the office.
One thing that I truly adore about Saga, is that they collaborate with young designers & universities all around the world, to bring out new innovative ideas. For Premiere Vision, Saga gave a chance and a platform for a young Finnish design student named “Elina Äärelä”, to create something absolutely unique with Sagas re-sources. Elina & Saga used embroidery, crystal, flowers made from fur scraps and other materials in conjunction with Saga Furs techniques, to come up with some innovative & fresh ideas seen down below.
I’d like to finish this post, by saying that I do believe everyone has the freedom to be pro-fur or anti-fur, as long as you’re willing to hear out both sides. To learn more about Saga Furs Certifications & Fur, please check out the links down below.
