she’s  popular  enough  to  be  considered  popular,  though 𝘴𝘩𝘦  𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘭𝘺  𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴  the  upper  echelons  of  hawkins’  royalty.  she’s  well  liked  enough  by  everyone  to  avoid  falling  into  any  particular  clique,  instead   floating  between  groups  depending  on  the  situation. (it’s  hard  to  find  friends  when  your  friday  nights  are  spent  at  home  &  𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁  𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀  𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 your  dad’s  new  prescription  regimens).

she  ran  for  student  body  president  not  because  she  feels  any  particular  affinity  for  hawkins, (ₜₕₑᵣₑ'ₛ ₙₒₙₑ),  but  rather  to  get  something  on  her  college  apps  that  didn’t  require  scheduling  she  couldn’t  make  work.  still,  she’s  undeniably good  at  it, 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮  𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙  and  not  afraid  to  push  back  on  the  school  board  or  pta  when  they  make  decisions  that  negatively  impact  students. 

she  tried  out  for  the  debate  team  when  she  moved  in  83′  and  managed  to  make  the  cut,  but  had  to  quit  (after  a  day  ᶠᵘˡˡ ᵒᶠ ˢⁱˡᵉⁿᵗ ᵗᵉᵃʳˢ)  when  meets  didn’t  align  with  her  mom’s  work  schedule.  she  𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮  𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙨  𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢  by sitting in  as  a  mock  opponent  or  judge.

it’s  practically  impossible  to  find  any  gossip  on  her,  save  the  occasional  accusation 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱  𝗵𝗲𝗿  𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸  &  ₒᵤₜ  ₒf  ₑₐᵣₛₕₒₜ  that  she’s  a  b*tch. there’s  no  rumors  of  crushes  or  hook-ups,  scandals  or  insinuations.

    𝙎𝙃𝙀  𝙁𝙇𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙃𝙀𝙎  𝘽𝙀𝙁𝙊𝙍𝙀  𝙎𝙃𝙀  𝘾𝘼𝙉  𝙃𝙀𝙇𝙋  𝙄𝙏;  lips  settling  into  𝙖  𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙠  𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣  as  the  door  swings  shut  behind  her.  the  little  study  room  hidden  off  the  library’s  main  corridor,  tucked  away  behind  ᵐᵒˡᵈⁱⁿᵍ ᵒˡᵈ ˢᶜⁱᵉⁿᶜᵉ ᵗᵉˣᵗᵇᵒᵒᵏˢ  &  encyclopedias  from  the  60s,  had  been  discovered  by  her  last  year,  a  little  haven  away  from  the  rest  of  hawkins  high.  now,  laurie  thinks  as  her  arms  fold  over  her  cardigan,  of  course  𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚  𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙖𝙣  has  gone  &  found  it,  too.  instinct  is  to  reveal  her  annoyance  and  lips  go  so  far  as  to  open,  but  instead  pauses.  " pretty  sure  you’re  the  𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮  𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧  𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣  who  ᵏⁿᵒʷˢ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᵗʰⁱˢ ᵖˡᵃᶜᵉ.  congrats,  ”  dark  gaze  flicks  over  him,   assessing  him  as  nancy’s  brother.  (she  used  to  see him  and  his  little  posse  ride  past  her  house;  𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮  𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨  of  the  carefree  joy  that  seemed  to  radiate  from  them  all.)  “you  ok,  wheeler?”
