My final A-level piece - after looking at lots of different artists styles and media’s, I loved Carl Beazley’s work and wanted to create my own piece. I started with with photo shoot that captured 5 different angles of the face, that I merged together on photoshop. After this I sketched out the work and had to decide on the media. The media I felt best suited this work was a mix of the Derwent and Prisamcolour pencils with acrylic paint; for opacity.

10 hours later and this is what I ended up with, I’m super happy with the outcome and think it really compliments Beazley’s style in the way I’d hoped it would!

For this artist mood board I wanted to explore biro and acrylic paint as a possible media. I found that Del Zou’s ‘Photosculpture’ project was the most appropriate for this, as there was such a high contrast in his work.

For this mood board I used my artist study; based on Jeff Hungton’s ‘Strange Art’ project to create a piece of work of my own in the same style. I decided paint would be the best media for this study; which took me by surprise as before A-Level I would never touch paint for a piece of work, but this study made me have such a different opinion on it!

I captured the process of an artist study I created using Derwent and Prismacolour, pencils and biro. The piece is based on Carl Beazley’s ‘Ways of Seeing’ project, I loved working from Beazley’s work as it was very weird and wonderful.

My final piece of ‘Freedom and the Night’ which is shown in The Mall Galleries in London. This is definitely one of my biggest achievements and something I never thought would happen from a few sketches for my GCSE work. I am more than happy with how they turned out and the composition of the two pieces compliment one another.
