NAME:Â Rose August
PRONOUNS: he/him
REGION: Kassin’Kye
MAGIC TYPE: Summer
JOB: Prince of Kassin’Kye
TAG: HERE
BIOGRAPHY
Born as the first and only child of Queen Augusta (Long may she reign) on the very day of her ascension to the throne, Rose was named for the flowers which have long signaled the beginning of summers. His birth at that time was seen as an assurance of the continued longevity of the Summer dynasty, and as such was always treated with special privileges, even for a prince.
Rose has lived a charmed life at court- well liked among his peers for his charm and wit, he spends most of his days in leisure with the younger lords and ladies of the courts. Critics of the summer throne regard Prince Rose as a spoiled and ignorant child, with no sense and no eye for leadership. However, in private Rose's mother and tutors have been dutiful in teaching him the secrets of court- while he puts on a good show of the vapid prince, Rose has a shrewd eye for politics and a strategic mind, he just rarely wants people to notice it.
PERSONALITY
With his adolescence over, Rose is under a lot of pressure to begin solidifying his alliances and gauging his political enemies- he must have a firm grasp of where he stands when he ascends the throne, else he could easily be deposed. Rose is keeping a sharp eye out for useful friends, and an even sharper eye out for threats.
NAME:Â Jethro OakÂ
PRONOUNS: he/him
REGION: Sii’Naka
MAGIC TYPE: Flight
JOB: Sheriff of Sii’Naka
TAG: HERE
BIOGRAPHY:
Jethro wouldn't have been sheriff if'in he could'a avoided it. Sadly, Sii'Naka fell on hard times when he was young. When he was a teenager, a fever swept through the region - they were put on lockdown from other parts of the fae realm and had their own voluntary quarantine from the human realm, for fear what the fever might do to the humans. Many died from fever, including the old judge and sheriff. The fever passed though, and left many citizens of Sii'Naka flightless.
This led to an increase in crime, some of the flighted citizens using this as a chance to take things from the flightless and the fightless. Jethro couldn't let that stand - he took the Sheriff's old gun and used a few spells to create The Magic Bullet - he went on a rampage and landed all the criminals in the brig. The region took this as an answer to their cry - the Sheriff had come home. Young and dumb and afraid to run the country, Jethro is looking to make political alliances that will better his region, but he doesn't have the political knowledge he needs..
PERSONALITY
Jethro isn't much of a fighter, though lately he's had to take on that role; he would do anything within his power to stop from having to be the hero. Still, he's a man who won't let his people down. Real lawful, he's trying to do what's right.
Born in the O'dEnis region of the fae realm, Faye has gone by a variety of different names when she comes to the human world, Faye Reed is just the one she's using right now. She is a drifter, going through the faerie realm via trailer parks to come back to the human realm, which she likes better in all honesty. Humans are just as volatile but they don't know her tricks. And they have so much to learn.
She is a ballet dancer and an activist, often traveling to visit various types of protests and things, manipulating things like fae do in her favor. She hasn't quite gotten world peace, but she has made horrible people pay for their horrible acts. A lot of her magic focuses on making people say things like "make me" in order to get what she wants. She is known throughout both the human and fae realm, most recently for a Tik Tok she made that went viral in which she used actual magic. Although she played it off as editing in the human realm, it has landed her under realm arrest, and she is no longer allowed to leave the faerie realm, since Kassin'Kye Queen Augusta (long may she reign) decreed it.
PERSONALITY:
Faye is known for being loud and outspoken, both in the human realm and the faerie one. While she has enjoyed the ability to go between them for a long time, she is now under realm arrest, only allowed to wander in the faerie realm, restricted to the Kassin'Kye and O'dEnis region, because she has become a trouble maker. She's frustrated and looking for any way to spark some joy in her life.
The Principality of Sii’Naka is most well known for the raw materials it provides to the other regions, as well as the cowboy culture the people live by. For years upon years, it was a home to high falootin’ friends who weren’t quite bad enough to make it to Joeland, but longed for a place they were free to behave how they wanted. The Wild Wild West of the faerie world.Â
Sii’Naka faeries are known for their signature wings, a trait which is not as common in faeries of other regions. However, lately, the Sii’Naka region is most well known as the origin of The Grounding Plague; a serious disease that has killed nearly a third of its population. The country is in ruins, as much of the law that kept it safe was killed off in The Grounding Plague, including the former sheriff Giya Root. With no sheriff around, the entire region was upturned, and several members of the region engaged in crime, particularly those who had not lost their flight.
For the past 15 years, the region has been on voluntary quarantine, in order to avoid spreading the Grounding Plague to other regions. However, it is largely believed that The Grounding Plague has been eradicated. Additionally, the region has a new sheriff; Jethro Oak has recently come in to power, though not by his own choice; other members of the region elected him after the death of former sheriff, Giya Root.Â
Jethro was such a well liked character because he created a Magic Bullet, capable of stopping someone with flight from stealing from the flightless members of the state. The Magic Bullet could do so without killing or permanently harming a person, but still not allowing them to get away; a real issue in the past six years.
INFRASTRUCTURE:Â
The infrastructure within the region is largely created from wood, short, small buildings designed to be easy to make and comfortable to live in, if a human were to somehow find their way in the Sii’Naka region, they’d think themselves in a John Wayne movie. Each town is littered with saloons, cemeteries and small shops, there are almost no cities within Sii’Naka.Â
Sii’Naka, as a gesture of goodwill built several large walls on the border of O’dEnis and Kassin’Kye to keep the plague contained. Now that it is believed the plague is over, many of the citizens are calling to both physically and metaphorically tear down the walls.
LIVELIHOOD:Â
People in the Sii’Naka region often make their livelihood as ranchers, farmers or miners. This is a region rich for resources, and because of that, other regions are eager to be the first to strike a deal to provide aid to the disease riddled region. Sii’Naka is the largest provider of raw material in all of the fae realm, that it’s rumored when former sheriff Giya Root put the country in voluntary quarantine, another region took a hit out on him, killing him and staging it as though the disease took him out, though no one is quite sure if that’s hearsay.Â
Now that the effects of the plague have largely died out, the region is attempting to regain those livelihoods, farmers going back to work, and miners making their ways deep into the mines. However, there’s still some shortages; faeries who used to have jobs as flyers between regions have now found themselves grounded, much as the name of the plague implies. About ⅓ of the population no longer has use of their wings, making it hard to travel between regions.
THE GROUNDING PLAGUE:
The Grounding Plague has been devastating Sii’Naka for the past 15 years. Fortunately, Giya Root caught the disease early in the region and issued a mandatory quarantine, and for the first ten years, this worked, keeping the damage largely within the Sii’Naka region. Though this decimated the population, and made it very hard to continue life as usual, it helped keep the disease out of other regions. This as well as the building of walls between regions.
Symptoms of the plague include digestive issues, increased bruising, scaling over body surrounding wings, fever, chills and delusional episodes. Often times the mark that the disease is past the point of saving is that the faeries have deep purple bruising on their chest cavities. It has a very high mortality rate, however, if you have gotten the disease, you cannot get it a second time.Â
During the plague, one of the most permanent side effect was the loss of flight; if the scaling around the wings became too severe, a faerie was unable to lift their wings, and the nerves connected would die, making it impossible for them to ever fly again. The country is dealing with the consequences of residents either suddenly dying, or living and losing an integral part of themselves. Clinics have opened up all across the region to help those affected by the catastrophe.
Despite the desire for advancements, the region’s scientific teams are very limited, which during quarantine made it near impossible to develop a vaccine. Now though, Jethro Oak has signed a tentative end to the quarantine, as no new cases have been reported in the past year. A few scientists in the region have gathered a few vials of the live virus, hoping to pair up with another region to help create a virus and stop it from happening in any other region.
The Kassin’Kye have observed a very complex and formal court system for thousands of years. Beginning with the first known monarch, the May-Queen Mab (May she never be forgotten). Since then, the four major families have rotated in and out of power and in and out of favor at court. The eras are often named for the family who held power at the time. The current period, now known as the Eternal Summer, began about a thousand years ago when the Winter King Janus was deposed by a lord of the Summer Court, who ascended the throne to become King Helios (May the sun forever shine on him).Â
Since that time, the Summer court has maintained its throne, despite a brief civil war with the Winterlands, and an attempt to Usurp King Julian by the Spring court. The current Queen, Queen Augusta (Long May She Reign) is known for her intelligence and cunning, and is to eventually be succeeded by her son, Prince Rose.Â
ABOUT THE KASSIN’KYE FAERIES
Kassin’Kye faeries are most well known for their pompous demeanor. As one of the oldest kingdoms in the faerie realm, and the most stable for the last thousand years, the region has thrived and survived through more things than not. They’re convinced the secret to success is that they continue to do things the ways they’ve always been done. They’ve been at odds with the O’dEnis region’s desire to get more involved in the human world and human technology.
ABOUT AESTIVAL PALACE
Originating as the ancestral home of Queen Mab, over the millennia the seat of power in the Kassin’Kye region has been razed, rebuilt, razed again, added to and subtracted from, and all around changed significantly. Large and sprawling from the outside, each distinct part of the palace dates to a different period and has a different style.
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: HALL OF LIGHT
Built during a previous Summer Dynasty- the Dog Days, known for intense development and a volatile political climate, the Hall of Light has acted as the throne room for every dynasty since, although decorations and furnishings and names have been changed over time.Â
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: THE HIBERNAL HALL
Built during a period of great prosperity for the Winter court, the hibernal halls are as lavish as they are cold. This part of the palace is mostly detached from the rest, with only the lower floors allowing guests to travel between the Hibernal Halls and the adjacent Harvest Halls.
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: THE HARVEST HALLS
Like the Autumn court, the Harvest Halls are famed for their comfort and hospitality. Gifted to the Autumn Court by Queen Augusta after one of their lords saved the life of the young Prince Rose, the Harvest Halls are significantly more lavish than their previous dwellings at court.
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: VERNAL CHAMBERS
Built during the Seventh Spring, this chambers harken to a time when the Spring Court was at the height of their power. Fallen out of favor since then, they have thrown all their energy into maintaining a very opulent presence at court, always on top of fashions and trends and desperately cloying for favor.
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: THE SOLARIUMS
Construction began during the reign of Queen Titania, but the solariums have been continually developed throughout the Eternal Summer. Architecturally similar to the Vernal Chambers, the solariums have been lauded for bringing natural light into the palace, however their design focuses less on the plants inside and more on giving splendid views of the ones outside. As such, The Solariums are largely built around the marble courtyards and gardens of the Aestival Palace.
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: THE GARDENS
The sprawling gardens of Aestival Palace are frequented by the wealthy and bored. Members of court take leisurely strolls through the open grass, have picnics and generally lay about. There are numerous pools and fountains for splashin about, and the trees and hedges give perfect cover for all sorts of secret and sordid meetings.Â
INSIDE THE AESTIVAL PALACE: THE MARBLED COURTYARD
There are a number of courtyards throughout the Aestival Palace- each of the courts holds at least one, and they are generally places of leisure. Generally these are places for more subdued and private conversation- it would be very rude to approach somebody uninvited in the courtyards unless you know them well. Members of the royal family and the courts often take meals in the courtyards if they are not having a more formal mealtime.
Faye Reed, a faerie from the O’dEnis region, on the night of 2/2/20, released a Tik Tok video in which she used a simple light spell. It quickly went viral and while many humans praised her on her skilled use of technology, the Kassin’Kye faeries pulled her back to the faerie realm. She is currently on realm arrest, awaiting for trial.Â
There’s an outbreak of fear of whether humans will discover the faeries and the faerie realm. This has sparked a lot of fear within the world, and brings tensions between the Kassin’Kye and the O’dEnis regions. The two leading regions must come together to provide aid for the Sii’Naka fae after the Grounding Plague has wiped out so many of the region. There’s a meeting between all seven regions soon, where the leaders can answer questions of the people on what that aid will look like, as well as the proceedings with Faye Reed.Â
Fae are from their own realm, one that lives just beyond that of the human world. Fae grew up in several different regions, with different types of magic based on their surroundings. Some of the magic is contract, some is manipulation of the physical realm, and some is a more sinister kind all together. Fae Realm is divided into the following regions; O'dEnis, Kassin'Kye, Sii'Naka, J'asEe'Nee, HonbUn, Joeland and Reva'az.
Each one holds different resources, powers and potentials. O'dEnis is the most connected to the human realm, but Kassin'Kye holds the most influence in the Fae Realm. These two group have been squabbling since before humanity. Now though, things are to a head. The base of the human operation for the O'dEnis region is Lavender Streams RV and Trailer Park. It is located in the town of Faletta, Kentucky, a town now on the brink of the new. Because of the urbanization of this town, people are getting closer than ever to the fae, threatening exposure like never before. According to Queen Augusta (Long May She Reign), it is dangerous for the whole realm, the lives the O'dEnis are leading.
Particularly, the life of one Faye Reed, who’s an activist in the human realm, and the fae realm. After she was caught using magic on the human Tik Tok, the fae have placed her on lock down inside the O’dEnis region. With the potential of war sparking between Kassin’Kye and O’dEnis, the decimation of the Sii’Naka region and more, the fae realm is in turmoil. What can be done to help?
