CHANCE.
He hadn’t expected confetti to start flying out, but the man’s reaction to Chance completing that nightmare was a little lackluster. Still, he’d gotten what he came for, and with little to no issues from the coroner. In his world, that was a success and a half. He took the pages with a nod and a half-muttered thank you, scanning over each sheet while one hand laid on Victor’s desk to keep him propped up.
“So, our friend here died after his… his throat was slashed, if I’m reading this right.” He tapped his fingers against the wood. “And with only a minute left, too.”
“What’s this about bruises, though? Did he get sucker-punched before his death?”
“ it’s less of a slash and more of a jab. quick and dirty, but effective. with slashing motions, more blood tends to get on the perpetrator. . .this way, there’s an initial spray, but if you move away quick enough, you’ll be spared the worst of it. ”
grim details, but everything was necessary with these lawyer types. sometimes darker was better ; he’d seen prosecutors spin stories about poor unfortunate victims after what victor told them.
“ it’s consistent with a short distance blow to the face with something like a balled up fist, yes. that’s the strangest thing, though. ” he tapped the side of his own nose for emphasis.
“ it’s very light bruising for a blow that should cause significant bruises unless it was done recently. there’s swelling and redness in the area, but it hasn’t begun to darken -- and likely won’t, given there’s no blood to be pumped into the bruised area. he was struck before the murder with enough time for the initial injury to begin showing. ”
