THE BEACH WAS THE ONE PLACE WHERE HE COULD HEAR HIMSELF THINK - and where he could escape his mother. As the ball rolls to him , he arches his brow , eyes meeting those of the golden retriever. A LITTLE SMILE PLAYS ON HIS LIPS. He bends down to pick the ball up , before throwing the ball for her. A SHORT DISTANCE , not too far but enough to make her happy. His emerald gaze then finds her owner. “C'est bon.” He replies softly. “It’s fine. No sand, see?” A little smile follows - even if he is wary. He’s never much been a people person. “She’s very lively.”
L.J. is glad to see that his dog hasn’t gotten the stranger dirty with sand. She was trained but she was also still young and easily excitable. “That’s good, I’m glad she didn’t get any on you.” He scratches the top of her head a little more before giving her a soft command to stay calm at his side. “Yeah.” He laughs, somewhat apologetically, at the remark about her energy. “She’s only four, so she has a lot of energy.”

The red golden retriever follows her ball along the Venice beach boardwalk, to the feet of the stranger. Instead of picking up her ball she waits for the young man to join the game and throw it for her. A whistle following the name “Bo!” can be heard from behind her. Then a few seconds later, L.J. catches up to Buttercup along with his other dog, a silver German shephard, at his side. When he approaches the retriever and the stranger she was waiting for, he laughs and smiles. “I’m sorry about her.” He beckons her to him and claps her when she walks to his feet. “She’s very friendly.” The German shephard stands disciplined beside him. “Did she get any sand on you?”

“Alright, let’s see.” L.J. sits down opposite Julien with a few papers in hand that he is looking over. He has a pen with a cap on that he is tapping near his mouth and for a moment he is very concentrated on the paper. Then he looks up with a friendly smile and puts the papers down to the side on the desk near them. “It looks like the individuals involved in the fight haven’t pressed charges. Unless you want to charge them, then, well, you can go. Maybe you want to clean your lip up first. Here.” He picks up a box of tissues from the desk and hands it to the man.

Name: Elias Joseph “L.J.” Bellarmino Shaw (the L comes from people calling him ‘Els’, so instead of E.J. it became L.J.) Age: 31 Faceclaim: Brent Antonello Jobs: Police officer (planning on quitting soon), marijuana farming beginner/trainee Gang: Blackhawk saints Role: Prospect (new member) Reason for being in Sanroy: He grew up on the island in the town Pyreford. L.J. originally started getting into crime in his teens, but he quit out of shame and started pursuing being in the police force. He used to believe he could help the criminals as a cop and was always known as the most cheerful cop in Sanroy. Trivia: Sergeant Copper and him were partners for some time. He has a family member in the Blackhawk Saints (if you want to make his relative pls do, can be parent, sibling, cousin, etc.). He was always light-heartedly trying to persuade criminals to stop doing crime. L.J. recently came out of the ICU due to being injured in a serious shootout that was part of a city-wide vendetta towards the cops. He hasn’t been his normal cheery self since being discharged. After feeling betrayed by the SCPD and being on the fence about joining his family in the Blackhawks, he is planning to quit the police force, but not before collecting useful intel and selling some PD equipment.
‘I actually went in for the pilot when it was called Bounce. I remember going out for the role of German, Jonathan McDaniel’s role, but it just didn’t fit at all. Then another part came in at season 2 when it was called Hit the Floor and they called me in for Zero’s part. I remember thinking this is weird they keep calling me in and I didn’t fit the role of a basketball player but I did it and completely bombed that audition and then a month after I got called in to try a sports agent role. Finally I was like okay here we go I can do this one.’

i might end up referring to l.j. differently every time tbh... he just has so many nicknames and possibilities for names. like either just elias or joseph on their own. and el, els, eli or joe and seph. i'm gonna headcanon he's called differently by all his many relatives tbh. but l.j. is the most used, that's what he was known as on the police force.
