Mind Map of Eroica by Basquiat
The Princess of Wales Theatre - this is what I would build if I could. It would be an eco-friendly "chill lounge", ultimately. Each floor is visible from everywhere in the building. It is open 24/7, and only used natural and solar light to stay lit up during the day and at night. There is not just one main staircase - there are several ways to get to each floor including ladders, ramps, bridges, slides and spiral stairs (and of course an elevator). There is electricity within the building so that students can do homework or study, there is a phone charging station, and there are several stress relieving activities you can partake in inside the building. It is a totally smoke free zone, and an equal, accepting community once you walk through the doors. The message and story it will tell is one of grace, compassion, acceptance and care for our environment, mental and physical health, and overall peaceful city.
The Age of Non-Patience
Have you ever been staring at your computer screen thinking, “just load already!” We are living in an age of non-patience. We no longer have the ability to wait for technology to catch up to us without getting frustrated or aggravated with it. Humans could get so much more done so much faster if our laptops could turn on quicker, if iMovie could import videos faster or if Twitter could refresh quicker. We always want to be faster, better, stronger, however, once we get there, we want more. We will never be satisfied. We are greedy and selfish, as humans, and we need to learn how to slow down to the speed of the technology around us. But how? How can we adjust to going the speed of our technology when the rest of society around us is forcing us to think faster, more efficiently and more innovatively? The answer is: we can’t. We can’t go any faster than the technology around us is allowing us to go.
