Day of the Dead || Lazarus Morphey || Deck C
Mystery Pills and Mystery deaths-- I watched them as they played out on the walls, and as I toyed with the pill bottles in my hands.
I supposed that it would be easy way out, to just spite the Gamemakers and take my life into my hands, downing these pills with ease and not caring about what sort of effect they'd have on me. But then again... what effect did they have?
I take a closer look at the pills, to see if any are different, and if they're familiar to any previous medical pills I've handled before. Surely, they must be among the hundreds I've seen.

The rubbing alcohol, needle, thread and cotton buds I took, as well as the unlabeled pill bottles.
The feces, I could stand. I mean, when you make the rookie mistake of accidentally perforating a bowel during an autopsy, it’s a smell that you learn to deal with, and a lesson you associate crap with— A steadier hand will mean you won’t be wrist-deep in shit, both literally and metaphorically.
I run the salt-water tap, (unwilling to use rubbing alcohol when I can use salt water to kill new bacteria in the bite,) test out the temperature of the water, then put my bitten wrist under. I nudged the monkey corpse with my foot; what exactly was that monkey on? Probably the pills. Those colourful ones, which may or may not be the same as the ones in the unmarked bottles. I check the monkey’s eyes, and nudge open it’s mouth with my foot for evidence of such.
With a nudge of your foot the monkey’s eyeballs explode, pus and blood spilling all over your boat shoes and smelling up the room. Maybe it’s time to move on or at least get out of the bathroom before it self destructs anymore?
Dear god, honestly?
Enough was enough. I rinsed off the blood and pus from my boots in the sink, then exited the bathroom with my loot, shutting the door firmly behind me. My wrist stung from the salt water, hurting more than the bite itself, but it should be fine. After all, if salt water can disinfect something as putrid as a human mouth or throat, the same could be said for the next primate's mouth.
What interested me now, was what was in these bottles. Popping one open as I sat on the bed, I extracted a single pill, shut the bottle, and examined it. Unmarked bottles, of course, but I've seem much more than my fair share of pills; perhaps I could identify it.

My arm throbbed at either end now, and while I felt the incredibly strong need to check the animal for signs of disease, I approached the cabinet cautiously, the marlinespike back in my hand, and my foot ready to kick things loose or into submission.
As the monkey corpse lay at my feet, I backed up a little and peered into the open doors.
Inside is some rubbing alcohol, a needle and thread and some cotton buds. Some unlabelled pill bottles lay scattered in the bottom of the cabinet with atrociously coloured pills crushed with monkey faeces on the floor.

The monkey finally fell limp, its body crushed on the floor. Your arm seems to throb but maybe you should check where it was hiding for something of use?

The impact of the toilet startled the monkey, stunning it as it shook it’s angry head. As Lazarus descended on it, it scrambled forward to bite at his arms. One bite landing on his wrist.
I really was going to have to cut off my left arm or something, because at this point, it was becoming a nuisance and a hindrance.
But this monkey was also a nuisance... Biting my wrist like that. My arm shot out and my hand squeezed the monkey's neck while it's teeth were sunk into my exposed flesh. I pulled it off of my wrist in white hot rage, and held it far from me.
I felt its windpipe give under my hand, and I would not let go until it stopped struggling. Scratch and kick and flail as it might, I wanted to see and feel the life slip from its body, and right through my fingers.

The doors smacked open suddenly, a snarling half bald spitting monkey staring at Lazarus as with a giant screech it launched itself onto the counter and up onto the shower rail. Bearing down into Lazarus’ face as spit and blood went everywhere.
Surprise, shock, or fear wasn't my first reaction.
It was rage. Pure, bloody rage.
I snarled back and as it came down at me, I swung the porcelain reservoir lid at the monkey's body, letting it go to shatter against it before reaching for the marlinespike in my back pocket. I shuffled a back a little to give myself more space in the event it would come back for more.

The taps work but the only water coming out is tinged with the salty scent of the sea. I wouldn’t be drinking that if I was you. Beneath the sink you can hear a banging, the doors billowing out a little as you can hear whatever is inside waiting to get out.
Well... the water would still have its uses.
But the bang bang bang under the sink was concerning. I shoved the doors shut with my foot, and waited for it to bang into the doors again so I could gauge just how much strength it had, or if there were multiple little bodies throwing themselves at the door.
In the mean time, I looked again for other things in the bathroom, then lifted the toilet reservoir lid. A heavy, blunt weapon. I could just drop it on whatever's in the cabinet, if it's small enough.

‘Cauterize that motherfucker’ was the first thing I thought of when I woke. I had bound my shoulder as much as I could and stopped the bleeding before having run from the Cornucopia, lest I leave a bloody breadcrumb trail right to where I’d be hiding.
I got stabbed in the shoulder, and honestly, that should have done right through me. But it didn’t. Lucky me, because it would have severed the tendons. Before I remove my jacket from around my shoulder, I look around the room, taking in my surroundings and wondering what materials I could use from it.
The small room you are in contains a bed and a small walk-in bathroom. The sheets are clean and pristine. Do you wish to explore more?
Rather spartan surroundings. Alright then. Stuffing my marlinespike into my back pocket, I slowly get up and walk over to the bathroom to explore that as well.
I press my ear to the wall, wondering if there was anyone else in the next room before I start checking if the water was running.

Lazarus Morphey: Interview
Lazarus: *smiles faintly as he steps onto the stage, waving to the crowd as he crosses the floor to Belladonna. He holds out his hand to her* Miss Belladonna, a pleasure to meet you.
Bella: *shakes Lazarus' hand, audience applauds* Welcome Lazarus! Now you've been in the Capitol for a few days now, tell me, what have you enjoyed the most?
Lazarus: *seriously takes a moment to consider everything, truthfully* The company. Your citizens are the most colourful I've seen, and I'm not talking about fashion. There's an underlining passion that drives you all, however subtle, and that, to me, is delightful in itself. There's nothing worse than vapid, two-dimensional company.
Bella: *crowd cheers* Well I'm sure you've caught the eye of some of the people here in the Capitol! Especially with your 8 in Private Training, Persephone seems to have taken a shine to you! How did you find training? Did you learn anything new for the Arena?
Lazarus: *actually smiles a bit more* I learned quite a lot in training, to be honest. My skill set was rather limited to begin with, however specialized, so I threw myself into nearly everything. So... yes, I did learn new things.
Bella: *crowd cheers* That's what we want to hear! How about home? Is there anything you miss about it?
Lazarus: *slight pause, then tips his head to the side just a bit* If I were pressed for an answer, I would say my parents.
Bella: I'm sure they're missing you too! Now while you've been in the Capitol, you'll have had the opportunity to meet the other tributes. Has anyone stuck out to you?
Lazarus: I'm afraid to say that I'm hardly the social type, even if my stay in the Capitol has helped me come out of my shell, so I didn't interact with as many of the Tributes as I would have liked. That being said, no one has really stuck out to me, but I will admit that of all the Tributes I have spoken with, they all have unique personal qualities, and I am honoured to have met them.
Bella: That's good to know! *audience cheers* Is there anything you would like to say to people watching before we run out of time?
Lazarus: *smiles slowly, then says softly and calmly* Yes, and I would like to level with you and the rest of Panem. You'll find that I'm different from the other Tributes here; I don't need a relationship to define me. 'Human emotions are a gift from our animal ancestors. Cruelty is a gift humanity gave itself', and I'll be every bit as cruel as I've been craving to be, every bit as cruel as I've been made to be. You haven't seen my best yet.
