「 &. —— ☼┋ ✧ ( and yet, she could not forgive herself ! ) 」
though it was blood, the contrast of red on top of dark grey gave the woman something to ponder. gave her something — — anything — — to take her mind off of the shitty zombie-movie-like world she now lived in ( the blood acted like art, and she was mesmerized by it ). her thoughts were often occupied with memories of life before, mainly of how happy she was in her uncle’s garage. who would have thought an old, dusty car workshop would bring someone such complete and utter bliss.
slim fingers picked and pried at the crumbling brick wall that surrounded her. the police station had been abandoned since the beginning——or so it looked like it——old papers withered with age and spilled liquids were scattered along the linoleum. few were legible, most were stiff from being damp and drying improperly, but it gave her something to do until morning. sleep was N E V E R an option, only flooded her mind with images of the brutal deaths of her last group. the thought sent shivers down a slender physique, resulting in her physically shrugging it off. “it wasn’t your fault————it wasn’t your FAULT.” she spoke aloud ( the one perk of being alone ? you can talk to yourself and no-one can call you crazy. ) leticia’s stomach spit out a loud growl, though her food supply was non-existent. her last can of food was peaches—which she ate over a day ago.
the sleeping bag seemed comfortable, and it was once she slithered in and wrapped herself around its ever-lasting warmth. maybe she would get lucky and sleep will find her and give her peace for once——but, with her luck, that wouldn’t happen. her mind grew to be all over the place, one main focus seemed to be nothing but an impossible reach. scatter-brained is what her uncle used to call her——used to say her mother was the same way, all over the place but never boring.
once leticia had moved from being stationed on the floor, she decided to peep through desks, find anything she could that would be useful or pass the time. a book laid silent in a squeaky dark blue metal desk, unaccustomed earth as the title. a small smile appeared as the woman back on the floor, back against the cold desk, as she began to go on the journey that is reading the novel.
“And wasn't it terrible, how much he looked forward to those moments, so much so that sometimes even a ride by himself on the subway was the best part of the day? Wasn't it terrible that after all the work one put into finding a person to spend one's life with, after making a family with that person, even in spite of missing that person...that solitude was what one relished the most, the only thing that, even in fleeting, diminished doses, kept one sane?”
the paragraph left her in awe——fingers placed at the top of the page so that when she shut the book, her page would be kept——as pages meant pages when the novel was shut, her pulling it to her chest as thoughts tried to piece together what she thought of it. though, the words that escaped parted lips whom had been silent for so long, weren’t related to the novel, but something that she had been blaming herself for what seemed like so long—————the deaths of her friends.
in a hushed whisper, the girl finally spoke as morning light began to shine through closed shutters:
I liked that about her. She was unpredictable. Sometimes the things she said and did were surprising. Sometimes they disturbed me. But she was exciting, and that’s what I liked most. She was so many, many things but she was never once boring.
