i like the idea of rudo seeing amo as a version of himself that had no support and guidance in life, and making her happy proves that even the worst possible outcome of himself could heal and be happy.

Hello tumblr, may I present some amorudo?
Doll Festival AmoRudo is my faveee 😭 I finally finished the manga. Idk when I’ll finish this but maybe this week
"amo and rudo need to heal before getting into a relationship!!". actually i think them being in a relationship can only help them heal FASTER.
amo and rudo both being mentally unstable puts them psychologically on the same scale than if they got with someone who's healthier than them, they understand each other BECAUSE of their shared pain. they both deeply care for the other, and want to make an effort in pushing the other forward.
i think people say this because they think mentally troubled people shouldn't take the responsibility of someone else's struggles, and i get it, but when it comes to amorudo and being able to relate to the emptiness they feel and feeling outcasted, they're better equipped to handle these themes than an outsider, AND help themselves heal in the process. especially because they don't enable each other, we saw that well in their first meeting.
it's easier to be compassionate and understanding of someone else's circumstances than your own, rudo especially struggles with this bc we see how hard he is on himself. so if someone else is struggling with something similar, that can help bring clarity to your own struggle by helping the person you care about through it. doing so brings out the fresh perspective that was always in you, but was suppressed because negative thoughts were overpowering them.
that's why i don't think either of the two putting in emotional labour for each other would be particularly draining or harmful for either of them, in fact it could be refreshing and soothing for the both of them and only make the two stronger. trauma's aside, they're both mentally strong survivors who shouldn't be caged up to "protect" them from any emotionally taxing situation that may happen. amo and rudo are fighters, together they wouldn't hold their weight alone, and they'd be able to learn how to better manage their own weight in the process.
amo and rudo already know the ugly versions of each other, having had a very shaky beginning, it’s what attracts them together. they see themselves in it, but are able to recognize it’s not all there is to them, and by extension themselves. it encourages them to be better for each other with rudo wanting to be amo’s friend and learning how to better connect with others when they’re struggling, and amo wanting time to reflect so she could be someone who rudo can depend on.
despite their mental struggles, i would say they have an extremely strong foundation that could only bring the best out in each other.
i also want to add that i think it works better than what people imply they want. from what i seen, this “they need to wait until they’re better” is only used on amorudo, ONLY when they’re paired together.
i take this as people saying they wouldn’t mind it if they’re shipped with someone who’s more mentally stable while they’re still not. i get where it’s coming from, people want to shield amo and rudo from any mental turmoil, they want them to be taken care of and such, but this allows for a one sided dependency.
with amo and rudo they’re both depending on each other, it’s a balance that can not be found in someone who’s already healed. because a perfect partner can love them fully and never inconvenience them, but that’s not what they want, they want challenge, they want to change, they want to grow. conflict and struggle between the two, while ugly and scary in the moment, can only serve to push them forward, and that’s exactly what they need.

traumatic moment aside, i like how rudo is just holding amo close while she talks with someone behind him here lol, bro was not planning on letting go anytime soon.
