Yes, yes he had one, before and before AND before.
But he supposed the latest two were the same. Pyke, reverberated in his mind. Said by plenty of people, he could even remember their faces, remember their names the priestess had done marvelous work in teaching him how to navigate his duty, loyalty and self. Somehow the list had become all jumbled regardless.
It seemed to irrevocably tied to that list. But while the list demanded action, it also demanded him to halt. Two conflicting principles colliding and leaving him in a rather conversational spirit. Suspended between two extremes he managed to reach out rather civilized. “There's plenty coin to be made in the waters.”, came with saccharine playfulness “unless your crew cuts your rope and sends you to the depth.”, like they did with him. “I am.”, a short hesitation, thinking about who he might have been once but no, he was and would be now. “I am Pyke.”, it's the name his companions had used.
It's the name he had hesitantly but slowly managed to feel safe within a crew yet again.
Then the Harrowing had struck and torn it all asunder. The sentinels had plugged him from his misery but weren't able to fight his self inflicted confusion. If he was stunned by questioning opposites he couldn't possibly fight to help the ruin.
Regardless of the turmoil that Harrowing had brought upon him he was still... sentient and in control now. For his role had been rewritten due to the events.
“I have been a... Sentinel – of light. Once upon a time.”, he admitted after all “I have hunted for my own pain, for the wishes of a priest, for the wishes of a corrupted king – no, wait, against it.”, he shouldn't talk about that but who would ever believe someone looking mighty like a river folk?
“But now, I control the list.”, one waterlogged list appeared.
“Something about you should be on there. But there is no trace of you.”, Pyke unfolded to his complete height after being focused on the floor before.
“Who are you? And who is it who was as convinced about you to erase you from the list?”
