Hey Summoners! Patch 3.13 has been out for close to a week and some ample time for a patch overview. Like always, I looked at general data, forum threads, and opinions ranging from gold to diamond players for Summoner’s Rift.
Ungodly Strong
Kassadin: They changed him up a bit and while they aimed to tone down his laning phase, he can still full combo someone and slip out. He's still very strong and a worthy ban, so keep watching out for him.
Sivir: It may just be that people aren't used to her, but Sivir has a very high win rate currently and only some minor weaknesses. She team fights well, shoves lane very hard. The update was very kind to Sivir!
Very Strong
Fizz: Despite the nerf on his Sea-Stone Trident, he is still strong at assassinating champions and a strong pick.
Gragas: Very easy to use for sieges, clears waves very fast, and has some great displacement and damage. Strong mage that can roam around in a still assassin heavy meta.
Annie: Support or mage, she is easy to use, and has some very strong burst and utility with her potential to AoE stun.
Zyra: Despite some range and damage nerfs, she still brings a lot of utility in her kit. Still a great pick as a support.
Jinx: Despite receiving some nerfs, she is still very strong, kills tower with ease, and dishes out incredible amounts of damage. Her poke is very strong too still. Can't overlook her just yet!
Strong
Corki: The nerfs did hurt him, and a lot of people have started to choose other ADCs instead of him. He's still decent, but the nerfs are showing on him.
Zed: With the changes to his shadows, he relies on more skill than before. He will see less play and will be less easy to use, but he still contains a high skill ceiling. Can't overlook him yet either.
Ahri: Much of her damage is tied to her Charm now. She can still full combo with DFG and Charm, but now it has to land. Still strong, but not as overwhelming as before.
On the Rise
Syndra: Some small changes and people have started to experiment on her. She's starting to see some play and a very good Syndra can easily zero a squishy in no time.
Olaf: The small buffs have helped him somewhat. He's still fairly niche in his pick, but he's getting stronger.
Ziggs: Some quality of life changes and he's rising up! He sieges towers well, and he can clear even faster than before. Definitely another mage to put on the radar.
What would you like to see more?
I do understand my content has been sporadic since Worlds and my recent job. But I'd like to ask what you want to see as far as writing followers?
Hey Summoners! Patch 3.12 has been out a bit and with the World Championship done, I think its time to take a look at what's been trending and changed up with the patch. Like always, I looked at general data, forum threads, and opinions ranging from gold to diamond players for Summoner's Rift.
Item Changes
Phage and Trinity Force: The cost of the item was increased by 100 gold. The movement speed effect is halved for ranged champions. Its slightly more costly and less effective for ranged champions, but its still a great item and probably won't deter players from buying the item.
OP OP
Kassadin: They haven't done much about Kassadin yet. He's still hanging around in the near OP area because he can dismantle squishies in seconds. Once he gets rolling, he will destroy you. Even losing the lane is ok for him. He just has to roam and gank, get snowballed, and he's relevant. Very strong assassin.
Jax: He's back again. People keep forgetting that he exists, and with Trinity Force and worlds, he's risen up in popularity. His scaling is incredible and he's very hard to beat once he gets items.
Renekton: This croc will also eat you. The amount of bullying he can do is unbelievable. He can get very tanky and deal great amounts of sustained damage.
Very Strong
Corki: The Trinity Force nerfs didn't touch him hard. He's still the strongest ADC right now, and his burst potential and mixed damage makes him an absolute monster. The only thing he has to worry about is Caitlyn in lane and laners that can toe-to-toe with him in burst.
Orianna: A popular pick from World Championship, this mage has been strong before, but shows that a mage can be built in a variety of ways. From utility to full on heavy AP, she can do wonders with the right set of mechanics.
Ahri: The foxy assassin will tear through squishy targets easily and her power spike at level 6 in lane is incredible. Her roaming is also very strong, as she can pull off some very Kassadin-esque things with her Spirit Rush.
Zed: This champion has been coveted by many Mid Laners and for great reasons. He can become stronger in the hands of mechanically skilled players. His skill cap is high, and the amount of damage he can dish out is absurd.
On the Rise
Gragas: Popularity rising from World Championship, and people have come to realize his strength. While he is gated by cool downs in the end, his ability to dismantle team fights is incredible.
Fizz: He's been around in solo que for awhile but many players at Worlds showed his limits. He is a very scary assassin once he reaches his power spike with Lichbane and Zhonya's, and hard to catch once he reaches that point.
Zyra: People are picking her up more after what they saw she could do from Worlds as a support. Her auto attack range and harass is incredible in lane and can swing the lane once you gain tempo. Her ability to zone is amazing.
Annie: Support Annie is a very new and rising choice brought by Royal Club's Tabe. She's been rising up in popularity after many saw what she could do in Tabe's hands. She has an easy 1.75 second stun, great base damage, and a 600 range auto attack that can harass many ADCs. She's rising up and can fill some similar niches that Zyra can.
Leona: She was coming up already last patch, and Yellowstar's brilliant Leona play made her shine more. She also pairs wonderfully with Corki and Varus. Her full stun combo is something to fear.
Aatrox: Fnatic's Cyanide showed a powerful jungle Aatrox, and proved he wasn't just a different Tryndamere. Well timed Dark Flight and surprise amounts of damage makes him a deceptively good pick. He compliments well in a team filled with some CC.
Vi: Just to note, the Charming Assault combo with Ahri is dangerous. She's still solid, just rising up in popularity again.
Bread and Butter
Jarvan IV: Pretty much the standard of tank or bruiser junglers now.
Elise: While her top lane is weaker, she is definitely still viable in the jungle.
Evelyn: She can still stutter people's tempo from being stealthed out, and she fills out the second of bread and butter AP junglers.
Lee Sin: How can you have Bread and Butter without a blind man? He's versatile and rewards high skill play. He's as strong or as weak as you make him.
Caitlyn: Easy playability, and she has an easy time against Corki you say? Might as well stick around.
Changed Up
Olaf: I would think he needs more time to have an accurate picture. So far having a scaling true damage ability and a high attack speed steroid is pretty strong. There might be some promise with this Olaf.
Ryze: He's going to zoom zoom, but I feel like he has the issue of having less range, and that made him weaker against the bruisers and melee in top lane. He's faster now at least, but right now doesn't feel stronger or weaker.
Lucian: Mana problems seem less of an issue, and he is a snowbally ADC. If he gets rolling in lane, he's going to destroy the opposing team. He's been doing well in competitive areas after Worlds, so we'll have to see how he fares now.
Garen: He's still a bayblade. Just more shiny!

Quick Tip of the Day #86
Some players don't optimize their full combo at the right time. The best time for unloading is usually when your opponent is CC'd.
Quick Tip of the Day #85
Remember to utilize the Exalted with Baron Nashor buff efficiently. If you can push lanes with it, do so. With the increased regen and damage, sieges should go in your favor with the buff.
Patch 3.11 Changes / Trends
Good day Summoners! Patch 3.11 has been out a bit, so let's take a look at some of the changes and trends that have been happening with this patch. I looked at general data, threads, and opinions ranging from Gold to Diamond players.
Item Changes:
Trinity Force: With the change to Phage and the buff to the Spellblade portion of the item, Trinity Force is a very solid buy once again. The great burst from the proc and the Movement Speed is very strong and this item has pushed some previously underplayed champions back into the light again.
Phage: They made Phage cheaper to build and gave it a new Move Speed passive where you gain Movement Speed when you basic attack or kill a unit. Very strong right now.
Frozen Mallet: The plus side is you can now buy both Phage / Trinity Force and Frozen Mallet. The bad part is Frozen Mallet now has a very awkward build path. Its not terrible, but its very niche.
Spirit Visage: Cost increased, but still damn good. Still a worthy investment.
OP OP:
Kassadin: In terms of Solo Que, this champion can become a monster. If you don't want him in your game, make sure to ban him out. He can lose lane but still come back from his fairly good scaling. Not only this, but he's very hard to pin down post level 6, and his burst is insane. He can destroy squishies in a matter of seconds and get away with it. If you can abuse him, do so, but otherwise be careful of Kassadins.
Very Strong ATM:
Ahri: Despite being dependent on skillshots, she's fairly easy to play and her ability to assassinate someone at 6+ has made her a strong pick right now. Death Fire Grasp, Zhonya's Hourglass, and Guardian Angel are great items to pick up on her to swoop in and assassinate a carry. She's almost Kassadin, but not quite.
Zed: Assassin mids are a trend and this guy can duel nearly anyone and kill them. He has some mechanical quirks and a higher skillcap for some tricky shadow play. If you can play him well, you can probably assassinate just about anyone.
Shen: They keep putting nerfs on him and they do show, but he's still a very strong top laner. He also can benefit from Trinity Force or Blade of the Ruined King as well. This guy will always be strong right now.
Ezreal: New Trinity Force makes him stronger. Some people still hold to the Blue Ezreal build, but Trinity Force and an Infinity Edge gives Ezreal stronger amounts of poke and auto damage. Watch for Ezreals with Trinity Force now too.
Corki: The new Trinity Force also benefits Corki. Corki had burst damage before, but the changes and the small buffs he's gotten in recent patches have helped him out.
Jax: Surprise. I'm back with Trinity Force. (If you can play this guy and get Trinity Force and Blade of the Ruined King, you're pretty set to win.)
Irelia: I'm also back with Trinity Force. Please don't nerf me again. (Same thing with Irelia. Get Trinity Force and Blade of the Ruined King and you can dunk carries all day.)
On the Rise:
Leona: With Corki on the rise, expect some Leona players to come back around.
Blitzcrank: Thresh bans and nerfs? Might as well play the next hook. He's been also rising up too.
Nerfed / Losing Power:
Zac: With nerfs over and over again, he's seeing less play now than before. He's still a strong champion but I think he's finally starting to get in-line with other top laners / junglers.
Elise: Her whole kit saw a decline and its been showing. She's still strong with base damages but she's just not in OP form.
Ryze: Those range nerfs really hit him hard apparently. He's seeing less play now and while he still has the potential to become a hypercarry, his laning phase dominance against melee champions took a huge hit from earlier patches.
Quick Tip of the Day #84
Make sure that you are calling out missing laners if they aren't in their lane. However, also make sure to be watching your mini map and opponent. Most likely you can tell an incoming gank by the change in lane behavior. Call missing laners but make sure to watch the minimap as well. The responsibility is on all ends.
Quick Tip of the Day #83
Very Basic Tip: If you're having client or game troubles, try clicking the repair button on the patcher first to see if that will fix some of the problems. People tend to forget that there is a repair button for some of the basic issues.
Quick Tip of the Day #82
As a jungler, if you see the opposing jungler show up, either gank or take an objective on the other side of the map. For example, if you see the opposing jungler show up top lane, you could try a gank on bot and then proceed to go for Dragon.
Quick Tip of the Day #81
You can dodge an ability Karthus' Requiem with some champion abilities, such as Fizz's Playful/Trickster, Shaco's Hallucinate cast, and Maokai's Twisted Advance travel animation. There are a few others that can do the same.
Been watching the PAX Challenger and Regional stream so the posts have been slow this weekend. I apologize!
Quick Tip of the Day #80
Always try to maximize your buys when you spend your gold. Sometimes, even just another Doran's Blade or Ring could be enough to secure the lane.
Quick Tip of the Day #79
Be confident, but remember to play smart. Sometimes it's not about flashy plays, its about taking advantage of the opponents' mistakes.
