From the mountains of Lesotho in South Africa comes the remarkable Aloe polyphylla (spiral aloe, many-leaved aloe). This compact evergreen perennial has foliage which is arranged in a spiral pattern. These succulents withstand freezing temperatures and snow cover in their natural habitat. They are best planted in a free draining soil at a slight angle to ensure rainwater runs freely from the crown.
