Here a range of Geum cultivars (avens) have been planted in a variety of containers to decorate this outside bathroom. Geum flowers arise from semi-evergreen rosettes, the blooms are on thin stems. Flowers can be single or double in a range of colours from red and orange to shades of peach and yellow.

The orchid Paphiopedilum rothschildianum ‘Elite’s Paradise Angel’ is best grown in a bark based mix, with added sphagnum moss and perlite, or crushed limestone chips. In summer, the plant needs higher humidity and bright, filtered light. The plant should not be allowed to dry out but avoid keeping wet for a prolonged period.

Pelargonium 'Rushmoor Amazon' (Rushmoor River Series) (geranium) was bred by British grower, Stephen Pollard, and are known as zonartics. This category of pelargoniums have large flowers which are produced on long stems so do need support. The plants need good light and frost-free conditions.

A range of Calanthe (hardy orchid) species and hybrids provide a flower display on this show stand. These are evergreen, semi-evergreen or deciduous orchids that may be terrestrial or epiphytic. They have corm-like pseudobulbs and basal clusters of pleated leaves. The flowers can appear in spring, summer or winter.

This beautiful container grown Wisteria brachybotrys 'Okayama' (silky wisteria) is an anticlockwise twining climber. The flowers hanging in sprays 10-15cm long and are highly scented. The bean-like seedpods are velvety and up to 20cm long.

This stunning display of Primula auricula cultivars was at the 2026 Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show. It included an ‘auricula theatre’ used to show the plants in small pots in rows on shelves so they can be appreciated individually. These plants thrive in well-drained soil or compost in a shaded position away from hot sunshine.

The tender perennial Pelargonium abrotanifolium (southernwood geranium) has deeply divided, grey green leaves with aromatic, wormwood scent. The red stems have a lax habit that develop a woody structure when mature. It is very free flowering and will tolerate cooler temperatures if kept dry but is highly drought tolerant.

This tuberous perennial thrives in a moist but well-drained soil, in partial shade.

A striking display of the diversity of Streptocarpus cultivars (cape primrose) grown by Dibleys House Plants. The nursery was started by Rex Dibley in 1976 as a hobby.
The grower recommends “…a bright position but not full midday sunshine. Water moderately, and then wait until the compost feels dry to the touch before watering again. Feed regularly with a high potash feed. Remove flowers as they die. Streptocarpus should flower for a very long period, usually at least from May - October”.

A great clump-forming perennial for a sunny, well-drained location is Baptisia 'Dutch Chocolate' (Decadence Series) (false indigo). This plant is best left undisturbed, as it develops a deep tap root that improves drought tolerance. In the winter the stems and seedpods make a strong feature.

In this plant display Trachelospermum jasminoides (star jasmine, Chinese ivy, Chinese jasmine, Confederate jasmine, traders compass) was bursting out of the windows. This vigorous, evergreen, woody climber has twining stems, with glossy dark green, leaves that can turn deep bronze-red in winter. The clusters of very fragrant, white flowers are produced from mid spring through the summer. It can be grown in a sheltered location, in full sun or partial shade and away from cold winds, or in a conservatory.

An impressive specimen of Euphorbia ingens ‘Marmorata’ (marbled candelabra tree). This plant can reach up to 10 metres tall, with a columnar, cactus-like form and multiple branches emerging from a thick central trunk. However, in the U.K. it is a glasshouse or conservatory plant and may not have the space or conditions to reach those heights. The plant's white milky sap is poisonous and is an irritant to the skin and eyes. Always wear gloves when handling.
