I did a little something different. What do you think?
"It couldn't," Remy agreed, putting his arm through Jun's so they could walk arm in arm comfortably. "Nonsense, I'm the one who invited you. It's on me." It had been too long since he'd sat down with his hyung for a meal. It felt good to have him back. "Hmm, there's Alfredo's not too far from here. They have the foofiest drinks."
Jun pouted and batted his eyes down toward Remy. "But I'm your hyung! I haven't been able to treat you in too long and you know I love buying a shit ton of foofy drinks." Alfredo's sounded as good as any other place, so he walked with that destination in mind and a spring in his step. "Now update me on everything that's happened since we last spoke. Spare me no details. None. Hyungie is here to listen in person now." He sniffed, once again a little more dramatically than neccessary, and reached over to playfully pinch Remy's cheek.
"Port Cado missed you," Remy said, happy to have his friend back home. Lately, life seemed to move too fast, zooming past him, changing with the season. Jun being gone for so long was felt deeply. So it was a relief for this one thing to go back to normal. "Have you eaten? Should we get some breakfast? Or..." Remy looked at his phone to see what time it was. "Brunch?"
"Of course it did! How could this city survive without both of us in it at the same time? We, the beacons of beauty and light, are solely responsible for this city's happiness," Jun joked dramatically. "Mm, brunch, yes. It'll be my treat. Where are you in the mood to go?" As much as Jun loved Port Cado, it was the people he loved, like Remy, that he'd truly missed the most. They were the biggest reason for his return.
When Remy saw his friend wandering around, looking far too much like a lead in a drama, he couldn't help rushing up on him to hug him from behind. "Cliches become cliches for a reason," he reasoned with a grin. "Welcome home, Junie."
Looking over his shoulder to see Remy, Jun felt his smile grow until it was surely taking over his face. The sight of his friend was even better than the city around him. "I suppose that's true." He turned his body so that he could wrap Remy in a hug and pat his back. "You're a sight for sore eyes, Mr. Welcome Committee."
Jun found himself walking down one of Port Cado's many busy streets, trying to acclimate back into the hustle of it all. He'd just gotten back into town recently after an extended break from- well, everything. No shows at the casino. No wild parties. No dates. He'd spent time travelling, fishing, and leading a quieter life than he was generally used to. It had been cleansing in a way. It was in those peaceful moments in new places that he found inspiration for the kind of music he used to love making. Once he felt like he'd found a piece of himself that he'd thought was gone, he returned to the city he called home.
It felt familiar and alien all at once, but it still brought a smile to his face. He looked up at the sky and let out a huff of airy laughter. "I never thought I'd be this cliche, but there really is no place like home, hmm?"

Remy grinned at the song choice. It was, of course, inspired. Remy didn’t expect anything less from Junie. He was fun to watch while seriously performing, but karaoke was a magic place to let go of all inhibition, of the cloying need for perfection. It was catharsis, silly and pure in its intention. Remy danced and clapped along, giddy while sipping his spiked slushie.
When the performance ended, Remy applauded. “Bravo! Bellissimo!” He giggled right alongside Jun. “Eli next!!”
@eli-ryu
Eli erupted into praise as well, cheering on Junie as he finished his performance. He jumped up as Remy volunteered him, high-fiving Junie in the process. He thought for approximately two seconds before launching into a truly over the top performance of I Kissed A Girl, hamming it up as he sang directly to his friends.
@lee-yejun
Jun loved the praise, which would be no surprise to anyone that knew him. He preened before shifting his focus onto Eli for his performance, cheering when the first bars of his song started playing. His cheers quickly turned into uncontrollable laughter and he leaned onto Remy, grasping onto his arm as he tried to catch his breath.
"You're amazing," he shouted as Eli performed. "Take your pants off!" he added after a moment with another bout of laughter that brought tears to his eyes.

Remy gave a dramatic sigh as Eli made his way back into Jun’s will. “I guess I can share,” he said, breaking into another grin. When his phone vibrated, he peeked at it. “Oh, uber’s here.”
The drive wasn’t too long, and soon enough they were in a pretty pastel kitty noraebang room with all the snacks they could imagine and more drinks to keep them tipsy and laughing. “Okay Hyungnim,” he said to Jun, handing him the mic and the controller. “You’re up first.” Sitting back on the plush booth seating, Remy cuddled with Eli.
@eli-ryu
Eli cheered as he got back into his hyung’s and Remy’s good graces. He managed to not fall asleep on the way to the noraebang, which was saying something given his abysmal tolerance. He was thrilled once they were in the room and had plenty of snacks. He was in the process of stuffing his face when Remy cuddled up to him. “Yes! Go Junie! Go!”
There was no denying that Jun was an entertainer. Be it with the music he makes, or simply making the people around him laugh and feel at ease. When he saw a specific song on the list he chose it instantly, and took his place as if he were going to belt a ballad.
The first bars of “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus made their way through the speakers and with some alcohol running through his veins, Jun couldn’t help but grin like a dope. He sang each and every word, bouncing with energy and putting his while body into his performance. By the time the song was finished, adrenaline rushed through his body alongside the alcohol. He bowed and collapsed into the booth onto the other two men with a burst of giggles.

Remy grinned as Jun praised him and called him an angel. Really, he was easy to please, especially when drunk. “You’ll leave me everything? Even all your pretty jewelry and your wardrobe?” he asked. Sliding his phone out of his pocket, Remy started ordering them an uber. “Eli quick, make your cute faces so we can sing our hearts out. I’ve got an uber on the way to take us there.”
@eli-ryu
In quick succession, Eli cycled through three ‘cute’ faces. At least he hoped they were, he was really pretty drunk.
“Let’s go, Let’s go, Let’s go!”
@lee-yejun
Jun nodded at Remy and patted his cheek. “Even the pretty jewelery and wardrobe.” That changed once Eli made his cute faces. Jun was enamored once again and promptly threw his arms around the younger man. “I nearly forgot how cute you are. What are we going to do with you? You’re back in the will.” Laughing brightly, he stood and used the table to keep himself from wobbling. “Let’s gooooo!”

Remy laughed at the pair’s antics as he drank his martini, ready to slip in to play the mediator to their silly made up tiff. “Junie’s such a good hyung, buying us drinks.” He slid his arms around Jun’s neck, landing one kiss to his cheek. “Eli, don’t be mean to Junie hyung when we’re about to go to cute kitty karaoke.” He pouted at Eli dramatically.
@eli-ryu
Eli nearly doubled over with laughter over Junie’s reaction. There was nothing he loved more than getting under the elder’s skin. “I’m not mean! I said he was the prettiest!” Eli pouted back, throwing innocent (barely) eyes back at his friends. “Thank you, hyung for the drinks. Can we go now? I wanna hear Junie sing.”
@lee-yejun
Jun pouted and leaned on Remy. “I’m so glad I raised you to have respect. You’re an angel. When I die I’m leaving everything to you in the will.” Then he turned toward Eli with a wounded expression. “You called me old! If you weren’t so cute I’d have to end you.” Once Eli apologized, Jae wiped his non-existant tears and straightened back up. “I’ll accept your apology if you make three cute faces. Yes, we can go.”

“We can turn your home into a cat theme, popcorn, candy, and slushie home,” Remy offered Jun, glad that both of his friends were amenable to his idea. A private room, singing with his two friends, it would be comfortable and fun. “Chug! Chug! Chug!” he chanted, grinning. “Though, actually there’s no rush. We have all night. We are young and beautiful with all the time in the world.”
@eli-ryu
Eli downed the rest of his drink, thoughts of remodeling Jun’s home taking up his available brain power. “Yes! We are the youngest and most beautiful-est. Not you, Junie, you are old. But still the prettiest.” Eli laughed maniacally, eyes bright, knowing he was about to die.
@lee-yejun
Jun nodded at Remy. That seemed like a reasonable enough idea. No need to grace the karaoke people with his constant presence when he could have the same perks at his own house. He was still nodding when the new drinks were brought around and, whether they had time or not, he downed his drink quickly. It wasn’t a ‘sip and enjoy’ sort of night. Once Eli’s comment caught up to him, Jun straightened his back and whacked Eli’s arm. “The disrespect! I’m not old! I’m young! Full of youth! And I bought you a drink, you punk!” Playfully outraged, he looked to Remy. “Hold me back!”

Here, have a kiss.

Remy’s pout broke into a smile, eased by his friends’ kind words. He was easy to please. He liked being told he was pretty, the prettiest. He was a pretty, pretty princess, and his friends were the best at reminding him of this fact. “Okay, we promise to always share paddles from now on.” Remy had a feeling Travis wouldn’t be thrilled with that promise, but where even was he right now? “Junie, I know a place where we can have a private room to ourselves and order all the drinks. They have popcorn and slushies and candy and there’s a cute cat theme. And since it’s a private room, it won’t feel so much like you’re at work, Junie.”
@eli-ryu
“CAT THEME! CAT THEME!” Eli chanted, throwing his own puppy eyes back to his friends. “Let’s go!” Eli practically vibrated with excitement, bouncing happily in his seat. This was way better than stupid frat parties and wooden paddles.
“A cat theme, popcorn, candy, and slushies? Will they let me live there?” Maybe he needed to get a karaoke room set up at his house with all of that. What better way was there to spend sleepless nights than belting his heart out and getting slushy sloshed? “Wait! We just ordered new drinks. I’ll chug mine.” It felt like it was of vital importance to drink as much alcohol as he wanted that night, and he wasn’t about to waste a drink he’d already ordered. “But then we can go, my kittens.” He laughed and blew them both a kiss.

“You can’t wear a prettier dress than me,” Remy stipulated, pouting as he separated from Jun just enough to reach for his drink. He continued to pout at Eli. “I can’t believe you joined a frat without me. We should have been hazed together.” He stopped pouting only when he came up with only the most natural of ideas for his drunk self to come up with. “We should do karaoke tonight!”
@eli-ryu
“Of course I won’t be as pretty as you! You are the prettiest!” Eli blew a kiss over the table to his best friend. “Jun, tell your groom he is the prettiest ever.” Eli turned his own pout and puppy eyes to Jun. “You’re right. I’m sorry. Next time I’ll make sure you are on the other end of the paddle. I remember enough to know I don’t enjoy the receiving as much as the giving.” He stuck his tongue out and tipped back more alcohol. “Karaoke! yes, yes! Jun Jun Jun…pleasseeee.”
@lee-yejun
Jun nodded at Eli and turned to Remy, gently smooshing his cheeks together. “You’re the prettiest. Listen to Eli and I. We know best.” Matter settled, Jun crossed his arms and pretended to pout as well. “You know I hate being left out of things if there are paddles involved.” Then he sighed and shook his head with exasperation. He was just as excited at the prospect of some good karaoke as the other two were, but he had an image to maintain and was going to at least pretend to take a minute to be convinced to go along with the other two’s antics. “Fine,” he eventually conceded. “But you owe me a drink!”

“Such a pretty flower girl,” Remy agreed. “You know, lots of people have flower boys at ceremonies these days.” As Jun leaned towards him, Remy naturally wrapped an arm around him. He listened to his friends talk and laugh, smiling all the while. “Mm…I’m more interested in the snapback. Who’s was it? Was he hot?” Laughing, he let his head fall onto Jun’s shoulder.
@eli-ryu
“Yeah? Then I will be the prettiest flower boy ever! But I still get to wear a pretty dress, right?” Eli was all smiles now, alcohol doing its job. He hoped Lucas would hold his hair back for him. “I cannot in good conscious rat out my fellow Delta Sigma, something somethings. But there was definitely a wooden paddle and…a monkey? It’s all rather cloudy.” He made a face trying to remember if he ever found out where the hat came from. “I think he was hot? Who knows. I kept the hat though. Go Ravens.”
@lee-yejun
Jun nodded and patted Eli’s shoulder as if placating a child. “Of course you’ll get to wear a pretty dress. We’ll even get you a flower crown. We’ll doll you up.” Between the three of them, he didn’t think any of them would have a problem with anyone getting all dolled up. He pet at Remy’s hair and smirked at Eli. “A wooden paddle and a monkey. Sounds like a great time to me.”
