Whis took a moment to look over Gohan, and his expression spoke to some measure of both amusement and hesitation. Goku and his circle of friends and family really were quite odd.
“Well, we have quite a history behind us, you know.” He paused. He was not quite in the habit of singing Beerus’… destructive praises. Most already knew them quite well and had no interest in hearing them again. “I suppose it must be hard for you to imagine, knowing us at this time, but… it’s not been at all uncommon for Lord Beerus to destroy a world simply because the food was adequate but not amazing. I could regale you with the tales themselves, if you really wanted to sit through it all.”
“Maybe,” he agreed good-naturedly. “Though I am inclined to believe otherwise. But that’s no concern of mine.”
Oh. Well.
Others knew of Beerus’ destructive nature, but those bits of information hadn’t crossed Gohan’s path. He knew that he was powerful, that he was a God, but the grittier details had been glossed over in favor of the fact that he could be ‘bought’ with the promise of food. All the one-armed male had really seen amounted to little more than an overgrown house cat, and the same could be said of Whis. He was powerful, yes, but simply seemed to only care about food. The idea that either of them would ever kill anyone, let alone destroy an entire planet...
“Why would he destroy a planet because of that?” And a confused blink at that. “That seems rather extreme. How could they possibly make him better food if he destroyed it?”
... probably not what he should have gathered from Whis’ admission.
“So you wouldn’t want to know about another timeline’s version of yourself.” It should have been a question, though Gohan was confident in simply stating it. After all, it seemed... logical to him. There was no other way for Whis to be so confident in his assertion if it wasn’t what he already felt. “... why? You’re not... curious about what type of person he might be?”
