So!!! Lucy's gender!

I don't headcanon her as trans, I rather think she's AFAB Genderqueer!

The main reason I think that is: Her name.

Her birth name is Lucy, but she never really felt connected to it. It made her feel TOO femenine. And that wasn't the kind of person she wanted to be. She came up with tons of nicknames for herself, each one trying to capture the vibes of the person she wanted to be. Edgy. Cool. Far beyond the gender binary!

But her real name is still Lucy. She couldn't quite divorce herself from that name. It's a part of her, and she was much more reluctant to let it go than she thought she would be.

So when Emmet opened his heart to her... She figured she could do the same. She wasn't WyldStyle, or Geminizzle, or Freakface, or anything else she called herself... She was Lucy. And she wanted Emmet to know that... That that was the real her.

And Emmet accepted it without hesitation. Lucy was still the badass, incredible person who had saved him and taught him that he could be more. Her name didn't change who she was. She could be Lucy, and be badass too.

And Lucy was really happy to learn that. That femenine name or no, she could still be who she wanted to be. She could be WyldStyle, but, Lucy, too.

She only lets people she's particularly close to call her Lucy, as it's a mark of her trust to them, her trust that they won't think of her any differently.

OK!! I'll make a list of my headcanons!

Uses the label Trans:

Trans Guys: Emmet, Rex, Benny, Green Lantern

Trans Girls: Mayhem, Susan

Nonbinary: Joker

Doesn't use the label Trans:

Genderqueer: Lucy, Unikitty, GCBC

Genderfluid: Watevra (she was created that way, she doesn't feel trans!)

Emmet helping Rex be more comfortable with himself just by being himself and being happy

Like, Emmet just starts stimming happily out of the blue and Rex just watches and sadly thinks to himself "Man, I remember when I still did that..."

And just Emmet looks so happy so Rex kinda half cautiously joins in and realizes how much he missed expressing himself like that and

Rex isn't used to being touched gently anymore.

A hand on the shoulder makes him tense. He's quick to dismiss offers of hugs. He snaps at anyone that ruffles his hair, especially since he always works so hard styling it. He always sits in a single-person chair or at the very end of the couch to discourage being sat next to.

But over time, when he gets used to Emmet taking his hand to bring him somewhere, or Lucy brushing his hair from his face when they're getting ready in the morning, or Unikitty being the cat she is and nuzzling against his leg as she talks to him... He begins looking forward to any opportunity he can get to show and recieve physical affection. He didn't realize how much he needed it again until he was suddenly receiving it freely again. He'd been alone for so long... Having someone be gentle and friendly with him makes him tremendously happy in a way he can't really describe.
