Home for Mutual Gaze is a minimalist apartment located in Taipei, Taiwan, designed by MoreIn Design. The project begins from a question rarely posed in residential planning, which is whether a home can be organized so that no inhabitant ever has their back turned to the other.

Land of Peace is a minimalist café located in Seoul, South Korea, designed by Design Chou. The site offers no buffer between the commercial and the civic. It sits on the bank of Bulgwangcheon, directly beside a bus stop, on a stretch of pavement that never quite empties.

Heathside House is a minimalist residence located in London, United Kingdom, designed by Manea Kella. A conservation area asks a house to keep two faces. Toward the street it must behave, holding the line of its neighbours; behind, away from the planners and the passing eye, it can speak more freely.

Maison Butte Bergeyre is a minimalist residence by the Paris-based architecture studio Simon Jouin Architecte. Located in Paris’s 19th arrondissement, the four-story house sits at the junction of two quiet streets, away from the city’s main roads. Originally built in 1927 by architect Lionel Nicolas, the Art Deco residence overlooks the Parisian landscape, with increasingly expansive views of the city and its monuments unfolding as the home ascends.

Marbella Apartment is a minimalist apartment located in Marbella, Spain, designed by Febrero Studio. The coastal interior has a well-worn vocabulary of white walls, pale woods, rattan and bleached linen, a language designed to evoke a fortnight in August rather than a Tuesday in February.

7-EIGHT is a minimalist apartment located in Punta Mita, Mexico, designed by Aagnes. Sited on a peninsula where the Pacific meets an expanse of manicured golf courses, the project sets itself against the reflexive maximalism of most resort real estate, arguing that luxury reads more convincingly through restraint than through accumulation.

Canal House is a minimalist home located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, designed by Sylvia de Bok in collaboration with Kodde Architecten. Buying a listed building from 1665 is less a property transaction than an inheritance, and what the sculptor and her husband inherited was 700 square metres of a house that had spent its recent life as an architectural firm’s office, its condition poor enough that the foundation itself had to be rebuilt.

Casa San Francisco is a minimalist residence located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, designed by Jorge Garibay. The brief called for a retreat within a working vineyard on the edge of this colonial town in Guanajuato, and from the outset the architecture set out to hold a conversation with winemaking, both disciplines measured against the slow arithmetic of time.

The House in Rörum is a minimalist house located in Rörum, Sweden, designed by Fors Arkitekter. Set on a former apple orchard in southern Sweden, the project takes its cues from the traditional farm buildings that surround it, buildings whose pitched roofs and rendered walls have long defined the agricultural character of the region.

The renovation takes a subtractive approach to an existing house, reorganizing its relationship with natural light through selective removals and the insertion of skylights along the vertical circulation axis.

Leblon Apartment is a minimalist apartment located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, designed by Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos. The 300 square meter renovation, completed in 2023, began with a decisive act of removal: the demolition of a spiral staircase that had long dominated the center of the floor plan. Its relocation to a corner reads as more than a circulation fix – it is the move that unlocks the entire project, freeing the plan to integrate and expand the social areas for the apartment’s new owner.

Carlsberg Byen Apartment is a minimalist apartment located in Copenhagen, Denmark, designed by Copenhagen Works. The 120 square meter residence arrived as a new-build with standard construction finishes, the kind of blank envelope that offers no history to work with and no character to uncover.

Park Slope Home Office is a minimalist interior located in Brooklyn, New York, designed by Brian Cash Works. The brief carried a contradiction. A client wanted a room for concentrated work and a room for a sleeping guest, and the room available measured roughly ninety square feet. Most designers resolve this by making furniture do double duty, folding a bed into a wall or hiding a mattress inside a sofa.

Quiet Home in the City is a minimalist interior located in Shanghai, China, designed by A3 VISION. The project sets aside the expressive gestures that so often define urban apartments in favor of something harder to achieve: a continuous atmosphere that slows the pace of daily life.

Brutalist Penthouse is a minimalist interior located in Mexico City, Mexico, designed by Barde vanVoltt. Spanning 300 square meters across two levels, the residence takes brutalism, a movement historically associated with civic scale and unyielding concrete, and reduces it to the register of a private dwelling.

Albatros I is a minimalist residence by the Paris-based architecture and interior design studio Atelier Double. Located in Garches, a western suburb of Paris, the 112 square meter (1,206 square foot) attic apartment was acquired in its raw state within a newly constructed building and transformed into a fully realized home.

Completed within a compressed six week renovation window, the project reads less like a sprint and more like the culmination of a decade long design philosophy, one where speed never compromises the layered intimacy that defines de Bruijn’s practice.
