having dinner next to a couple who brought their (very cute, very friendly) dog to this patio but are getting visibly weirded out anytime anyone acknowledges the dog. whatās the endgame there lol.

the current twitter discourse around Americans not having āreal breadā or āreal cheeseā that pops up every now and then is so crazy to me.
we get accused of eating Kraft singles and wonderbread for every single meal. and itās so crazy because like of all the terrible crap we put in our bodies and all the shit our government does, I do think reducing it down to those foods specifically is nuts.
most of those products were originally the results of times of rationing or starvation, where the US government used the creation and production of such āfoodā to keep scientists, farmers, and manufacturers in business and to distribute cheap, consistent, accessible, slow-spoiling food to the masses. a very lonely example of the fed doing something positive for its people re: food. are they yummy or complex or nutritious? nope! thatās not why they exist!
and not to be the Friend Thatās Too Woke but genuinely the vast, vast majority of Americans who only eat such products are disabled and/or poor, which is a big reason I feel the way I do about these conversations. there are infinite examples of American Food Crimes that didnāt spawn from trying to keep the masses fed and employed during times of hardship and instead derive from the attitudes of excess and wastefulness which are much fairer things to criticize about US culture. please go after those instead.
being Boston born and raised and living anywhere else on Marathon Monday is surreal. no one else Gets It. itās a very Special Day. nobody here knows Iām Celebrating a Favorite Holiday. no one else is in the Marathon Monday Spirit.
last night my husband asked me ādo we get Patriotās Day off?ā and I said automatically replied āof course, we always get Marathon Monday offā and then I stared into space, broken. Itās The Most Wonderful Day of the year and itās not here but itās in my marrow wherever I Am.
that photo of crescent Earth made me sob.
weāre living such all-encompassing, depth-filled lives that it really is so easy to forget that itās all just happening on another celestial body in a vast galaxy of celestial bodies. how miraculous.
like weāre truly on a sphere in a vacuum chasing around other spheres. and we appear in varying shapes and sizes to the other ones, just as they do to us.
but this is where my two cats live. and we have fireflies. and seahorses and sea turtles and sea sponges. and there are orchards of apple trees and fields of wildflowers. and youāre here and Iām here and this is where everyone youāve ever loved or lost or passed by on the street will live and die.
it is all so deeply significant and insignificant at once. :)

watching 2005 What Not to Wear in the Year of our Lord 2026 is so surreal. half of these ācomically awful dressersā are styled like the most fashionable woman you know today. theyāre tweezing the life out of such beautiful brows. all the examples of āgoodā fits are SO harsh on the eyes. the casual yet brutal misogyny that saturated the aughts is in every comment. truly a time capsule.
so sorry to Austin Butler because heās built a career to be proud of but truly every time I see him in anything my brain auto says āVanessa Hudgens ex boyfriendā. like that is the primary concept in my Austin Butler schema. sorry to that man
unexpected weekday lunch w husband on a rooftop on a beautiful early spring day with a playlist I couldāve made when I was 16 wow did I ever consider life is actually worth living
how many EDS posts have to resonate with me so deeply I have to put my phone down and reflect before I go see someone about a diagnosis lmao
For valentineās day this year my husband got me a super comfy chair and ottoman to put near his gaming setup and bought me a new kindle so we could optimally do parallel play. 10/10 gift. To be loved is to be known (as a gal who loves to read and recline).
when I was like 14 I used to reblog these posts on here that were like "YOUR 20S ARE NOT AN IMAGINARY RACE YOURE DOING JUST FINE!!" just to be positive towards my older mutuals even though i didn't really get what they were about and I'd be in the tags like "#so true!! #everyone does things at their own pace!!" and now im 24 I'm thinking back to it and it's like Oh of course the imaginary race. Which im losing
