Acrylic pour painting has been a great source of therapy for me over the past 2 years. Through the prepping and mixing you can have thoughts of what you want to go for, but the chaos of fluid dynamics means that no matter how much you control it, you still ultimately go with the flow. You being to learn that ‘mistakes’ and things that don’t go to plan can create beauty that you couldn’t even imagine. Nobody can know or care about what you wanted to make, they can only appreciate what you have made.

The thought that got me to blog

My parents were born at a time when it was illegal to be gay in the UK. Gay men were sent to prison for who they loved, and although that seems long ago, for my whole childhood those people were still officially criminals. David Cameron, a PM that got into power when I was of voting age, was the one to apologise for calling them criminals, and cleaned their records. No compensation, no way of helping rebuild the lives they shattered for absolutely no good reason, other than hatred towards people different to themselves.

Emmett Till was lynched in 1955 by people who were made to believe that black people are inferior. It’s still happening, and we’re doing nothing to stop it. Governments and societies had tried to build rules around media and holding liars to account, and new social media companies have destroyed that. People can spread hate and lies in the exact same way that real news is fed to people. We don’t have to know which group of people will be targeted next, we just have to learn to identify it when it happens.
