Author’s notes: My thanks again to Lyrie ( aichis-eggs ) who pointed out that Aichi was the fearless one and not Kai in respect to “that” which is the cause of chaos for this instalment. Enjoy!
In this particular one-shot, Kai is 28, Aichi 27 and Tasuku is around two years old.

With my previous update, I believe I mentioned that I wanted to revamp the series as a whole. Well, it has been a while since then, but here I am!
To begin, the reason for the revamp. When I first started the Kazoku series, information such as Tasuku’s birthday had yet to be released so I did whatever I pleased. However, because of the pace babies develop at, the moment Tasuku’s birthday was released (5th May) I knew I had to make some major changes.
First off, it was announced that Buddyfight is actually set in the year 2030. Since Tasuku was 14 then, it means that today, 5th May 2016, is the exact date he was born. I remember someone calculating the characters’ ages for Vanguard in accordance to year as well, so I created a timeline to help myself do this series better.
So, what will actually happen for the revamp?
The first major change is that the Kazoku series will now be posted on AO3, as individual standalone stories as they have been.
The series will also be renamed to “Our family, Our home”.
The first story is already uploaded onto the site, titled “The birth of a family”. This is the true prologue of the Kazoku series, where everything began.
In addition, most of the previous stories, except for the recent few which already fits with the corrected timeline, will be re-written or modified and posted on AO3 as well. By October (once I have graduated from college) I will start transferring the stories over. I will not remove the post itself, but simply replace the stories themselves with the links.
I will be updating this blog only with original fiction, as well as an update once every three months regarding what I have posted on FFn and AO3. For more regular updates, you can like and follow my facebook page.
Thanks for all your support for the Kazoku series on tumblr until now, and I hope you will continue supporting it while it’s on AO3!
For those of you who have been following my facebook page, you’ve realised that I started posting up stories on Archive of Our Own (aka. AO3). The reason for this is that I’m writing stories of which fanfiction.net does not have categories for. I’m the kind who finds folksonomy messy and rather troublesome, so I’m sticking to FFn as much as I can.
This update includes all stories that are not written on this blog.
I know it’s only in the middle of the month, but I doubt I have time to write more so I’m doing the update now.

Author’s notes: There will be an important announcement post coming up regarding this series and this blog since I’ve been convinced to return to FFn where I’ve been lurking for the past year, so look out for it! It will be posted on my facebook page, and maybe cross-posted here too.
I actually had comments from more than three people about how Aichi is too polite in this family setting, but i suppose that this is a reflection of my own family upbringing. My parents always taught us to be thankful for every little thing and not to take everything for granted, even the deeds of your own family members. This is probably why I came up with this title. Well, it also reflects my own image of Aichi as well as the Japanese family, I suppose.
You can now get updates on Facebook! You can find me here at https://www.facebook.com/leucoium/ . Please do not add me by my personal account, even if you know it.
In this one-shot, Tasuku is a little before six years old. The recipe for the chocolate ganache cake is not mine, I found it here.

"Papa! That one! A-And that one! This one!"
"Tasuku, I said you could only pick one. We aren't in a rush, so you have time to make up your mind."
It was grocery shopping day for the Kai family.
Having picked up little Tasuku from the kindergarten, the father-and-son pair headed straight for the supermarket to pick up the ingredients for dinner. While they were there, the display of chocolate set up for valentine's caught the child's eye.
Not knowing what the event was, he asked his father about it. After learning that it was an event where one gives chocolates to the people they love and appreciate, the child insisted that they buy one for his beloved mother. His father naturally supported his decision.
However, with the wide spread in front of him, the child cannot seem to decide which one he thought was perfect.
At the present time, they have spent five minutes amongst the display, surrounded by high school girls and housewives who were both selecting their chocolates excitedly and happily ogling at them at the same time.
"Tasuku, have you decided?"
"That one! Uhh... this one! Uhhh..."
"Not yet, I guess."
"Yo! If it isn't Kai and junior! Good day!"
"Miwa."
"Miwa onii-san!"
"Hey there, squirt." The blonde gave the child pat on the head, ruffling his hair. "What are you two doing here? Buying chocolates for Aichi? Aren't you too old for this?"
"Old? I'm not even thirty yet. And if we're talking about age, you're older than me by a few months."
"That's not the point, isn't it?"
"You started it. Well, I don't see anything wrong with giving Aichi chocolates. In the first place, Tasuku was the one who suggested this."
"Ah, I see. And I presume he's having a difficult time choosing?"
"Yes."
"Actually, if that's the case, why don't you make something for Aichi instead?"
"Like?"
"I don't know, like maybe a chocolate cake, chocolate muffins, chocolate cookies, chocolate pralines, chocolate macarons and so on?"
"Cake!" The child exclaimed, clapping his hands in show of his interest.
"Hold on a minute. Why are all those suggestions limited to chocolate?"
"Well, it is valentine's after all."
"..." Kai stared at Miwa blankly for a moment before recovering. "Oh. Right."
"That part of you that is unusually out of character at times is kinda weird, y’know." Miwa commented with slightly furrowed brows, but a mild chuckle. "Well, I got to be going. I just came by to get some eggs, anyway. See you soon!"
"Ah. See you." "Bye bye!" Pondering over Miwa's suggestion for a few seconds, Kai turned to the child with an idea in mind. "Tasuku, how about this..."
~ xxx ~
"I'm going to be late!" Aichi yelled as he frantically grabbed everything he needed, stuffing it into his bag. "Toshiki-kun, have you seen that folder? The one with the Cardfight Club's documents for their spring break activities?"
"The yellow one? You left it on the coffee table; it should be below today’s newspaper."
"Ah! You're right! Thanks, Toshiki-kun!"
"Be careful not to trip over Tasuku again. He's there by the couch, although he's hard to spot if you're not careful."
Hearing his name being called, the child glanced up from his drawing on the floor and looked around in confusion. His sudden appearance was a surprise to his mother, who was in his vicinity.
"Ehh?!"
It was early Saturday morning, but Aichi had to be at Miyaji High, his alma mater and now workplace, for helping the students with both their club activities and revision sessions for their finals.
"Here, your boxed lunch. And your tie's crooked. Let me fix it."
"Ah, thanks."
"You don't have to thank me for every little thing. Here, it's done."
"Have a good day, mama!" The child ran over, demanding a farewell cuddle.
"See you later, Tasuku." Aichi lifted the child up to hug him, and gave him a small peck on his chubby cheek. "Have a good day with papa, okay?"
"Okay!"
"Have a safe trip."
"I will." Passing the child to his husband, Aichi also gave the man a small kiss on the cheek. "Well then, I'll be going."
As soon as Aichi stepped out of the apartment and closed the door behind him, the father and son pair immediately set to work.
From the cupboard and fridge, they took out the ingredients they had bought the day before as well as all the tools they needed. But first, they needed to preheat the oven and grease the pan.
The chopping boards were set out and the two key ingredients, chocolate and butter. With his father's supervision and a nylon knife in hand, the six year-old was happily cutting the bar of dark chocolate into little pieces. Kai completed the job by chopping these up even more finely.
Afterwards, a wide saucepan of water to was set boil. A mixing bowl that contained the chopped up ingredients as well as one tablespoon of caster sugar was held over the water, but was not touching it, as Kai stirred the ingredients to melt the chocolate and combine the ingredients. Once that was done, the bowl was set aside to cool.
Four eggs and more sugar were beaten into a thick mixture, after which Tasuku was given a tablespoon of flour to fold in. While he was not sure how to do it, Kai guided him by holding his hand and showing him how he was done. By the time the chocolate was to be mixed in, the child had gotten the hang of it. To ensure the mixture was properly combined, Kai gave it a few more thorough folds before pouring the contents of the bowl into the greased pan.
The pan was placed in the oven to bake, and twelve minutes or so later it was removed, set to cool and placed in the freezer.
Since the cake needed at least four hours to set and would only be taken out a little before dinner, there was plenty of time for other things.
A trip to the library for some picture books was the first on their itinerary, followed by a simple lunch out at the nearby family restaurant. When they returned home, Kai put the laundry to wash before reading Tasuku two of the books they had borrowed. As they began on the third, the toddler was beginning to get sleepy and thus was tucked into bed for his nap time, cuddling his favourite dragon plushie close to him.
When the child woke up, it was just in time to prepare dinner.
The cake was taken out of the freezer to soften. But first, he had to prepare the stew and steam the rice. As the stew was simmering over a low flame, it was time to continue the with the cake. The icing had to be made, but it was just a simple ganache made from cream and chocolate that did not take long to make.
Just as the decorations were done, Aichi returned home. Before he could see it, the cake was hidden, and was only brought out after dinner.
"This is...?"
"A chocolate ganache cake."
"Papa made it! And I helped!"
"I can tell it's a cake, but... what's the occasion?"
Kai raised an eyebrow at Aichi's confused expression. "Tomorrow's valentine's."
"... Eh?" "You forgot, didn't you?"
"I guess I did." Aichi admitted sheepishly. "It looks good."
"It's the first time I actually tried making it. I followed the recipe so it should taste good."
"Your first time? Really? As expected of Toshiki-kun, you really are amazing."
"It's nothing much."
"Let's eat the cake!" Tasuku cheered, raising his hands high in the air.
And they did.
The cake really was delicious and despite having had a full portion of dinner, Aichi had three whole slices to himself. He assured Kai that he was not overeating, but he probably had some regrets after that.
After a warm bath, it was time to put little Tasuku to bed. As per the days when Tasuku would take his bath after dinner instead of before, he would get into the tub with his mama instead of his papa. This meant that the other person was left to bathe alone, as the tub was not big enough for three people, even if the third was a child.
"The cake was really yummy!"
"It was. Thanks for making it with papa. Was it fun?"
"Yup!"
"That's good." Aichi patted the child lightly on the head and gave a light kiss on his forehead. "Good night, Tasuku. Sleep tight."
"Good night, mama."
By the time Kai was done with his bath, Aichi can be found sitting by the coffee table, sorting out his deck.
"Is Tasuku asleep?" Kai asked as he sat down on the opposite side of the table.
"Yup."
"Hmm..." Reaching over to the drawer of the television stand, he retrieved one of his decks. "Well, it's still early. Shall we go a few rounds?"
"I don't see why not."
"Let me properly shuffle this first. I just made some changes to this the other day."
"Sure."
The sound of cards was the only sound one could hear in the room, as it grew silent between them. As soon as Aichi was done fixing his deck they were ready to play. However, it seemed that he had something to say to Kai. While the latter noticed, he waited for him to speak his mind.
"I'll go first."
"Sure." Aichi nodded in agreement as they began drawing their first hand. "Say, Toshiki-kun?"
"Hm?"
"I was just thinking..."
"If you're going to thank me again, there's no need for you to do so."
"Amazing, how did you know?"
"For how long have I known you? I recall telling you this morning that there is no need for you to thank me for every little thing. In fact, I should be the one who should thank you instead."
"Me?"
"Believe me, you do much more for both me and Tasuku than you actually realise. You could say the cake was one way for us to show our appreciation. I believe that you have mentioned this before: it's always important to thank people for what they have done for you."
"Of course."
"Valentine's is not an event that's just for lovers. It's also for showing people that they are important to you, and that you care. That's what I told Tasuku yesterday when we were at the supermarket. Well, I suppose it was a good surprise?"
"It was!"
"Now, I wonder how you will repay this on White Day."
"W-White Day?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Kai could not hold back his coy grin. "Now, shall we start?"
"Of course! Stand up! Vanguard!"
"Stand up! The Vanguard!"
[KAZOKU SERIES “A word of thanks goes a mile, but a heartfelt act of appreciation goes a long way” END ]
Wonders if anyone is keen if I participate in this. Recently got into Idolish!7 but I already want to write for it. I haven't and probably won't play the game because I know I'm terrible at rhythm games.
First things first, I will not be posting my fan-fictions here anymore. This page will be used to post my original stories, which are not written under my doujin circle’s name.
For fan-fictions, I will be posting my normal stories at Amamiya Toki @FFn, and my explicit rated stories at amamiya_toki @AO3. I will also be transferring my explicit-rated stories to AO3 from FFn when I am done with my current assignment rush to save them from getting purged.
Alternatively, you may like and follow my page on Facebook, which I am using as my main form of communication to my readers. All my writing activities will be compiled on this page.
Author’s notes: This will be the last story I am posting on this blog. After much discussion with several people, I will move back to fanfiction.net due to the Google algorithm. Naturally all my stories posted here will move with me too. My main blog will be renamed, but that is a matter for another day.
This story was inspired by my friend Kira. Today also happens to be her birthday, so have a very happy birthday, dearie!

"What… exactly is this?"
Ibuki Kouji's eyelid twitched twice, as he tried to grasp the reason behind the creation of the object that was in front of him.
"It is, as you can see," Anjou Mamoru stated a-matter-of-factly with a casual smile on his face, "A standee made of cardboard."
"I can tell what it is just by looking at it! Why is there a cardboard standee of me and why is it on display here at the Dragon Empire branch?"
"Well, we are using it for an event of sorts, you see. And our branch chief decided to make some standees of famous up-and-coming fighters to promote our main event, the children's mini-tournament."
"Without asking the permission of the person himself? You do know that this pose was a test shot for the promotion of a new training regime at the United Sanctuary branch, don't you? How did you get your hands on it?"
"Well, our branch chief managed to convince branch chief Kanzaki…" Mamoru did not finish his explanation, but instead gave a thumbs-up sign along with a silly-sort of expression that seemed to imply something dubious.
"What's with that?" Ibuki retorted, but felt that it was a matter that should not be touched on.
Making a mental note to properly file a complaint to branch chief Kanzaki's desk when he returns, he let out a small sigh.
"So? I'm the only one who was made victim to this?"
"No, not at all! We had approached some fighters and they kindly gave us their consent."
"I don't see any more."
"That's because they are now being placed over that side. The three of them are in a team, so we thought it would be better to put the standees together."
"Ah."
"Are you feeling lonely just because your standee is here on its own, Ibuki-kun?"
"No."
"You don't have to be so shy about it, no one's going to blame you for admitting the truth. Oh, I got it. Hey!" Mamoru called out to one of the staff members a little away from them, who was carrying one of the standees. "Could you bring the red-haired one over here? We'll place it here instead!"
"Right away, Anjou-san!"
"Red-haired…?" Ibuki repeated, looking confused.
Two minutes later, Ibuki was wearing the same expression as he had earlier.
"What… exactly is this?"
"It is, as you can see, a sta—"
"I know it's a standee." Ibuki interrupted, his voice hinting his annoyance at the clan leader's teasing tone. "Why is this person on a standee?"
"By 'this person', you mean Chrono-kun? It's fine, isn't it? I mean, look how adorable he is."
"That is not the point, and that does not answer my question at all."
"Hmm? You're not pleased with the partner I chose for you? I thought the two of you would look pretty cute together."
"Please do not imply such weird things at a place where other people can hear."
"It's probably just your own perception? I wasn't hinting anything at all."
Was what he said, but there was no way that Ibuki was going to believe the words of a sly man like Anjou Mamoru.
But before the conversation could continue, if either of them had planned on keeping it going that is, it was interrupted by another member of the staff in charge of setting up the event venue.
"Anjou-san! We need you to come over for a while! It's sort of an emergency…"
"I'll be right there." Mamoru acknowledged. "Well, I'll see you later, Ibuki-kun. Please make yourself comfortable while you are here."
Ibuki replied with a grunt, and said nothing else as he watched the older man rush off to complete his duties. After that, he redirected his attention to the two standees in front of him, in particular the one who possessed a weird swirl as a part of his hair. Rather than a swirl, it reminded him more of the strawberry danish he once glanced upon at a bakery.
"Isn't he embarrassed at all, having something like this made and seen by people?"
But it wasn't badly made, Ibuki had to admit. The cardboard was neither thick nor thin, but was sturdy enough. And from one glace he could tell that the printers did not skimp on the colour ink, enabling for finer detail to be shown.
But for some reason that mysterious hair swirl had his attention; he could not help but to think about it. To keep thinking about it, rather. Perhaps it's because you don't see people with hair that weird every day. Is it natural for people to be born with it? Or perhaps it's just something that the teen had attached on. That is one possibility, isn't it? Maybe it is actually a button of sorts, and something might happen if pushed.
He lifted his right hand, with only his index finger straightened. The urge to poke it was overwhelming, frighteningly so. Should he? Should he not? It should be fine if no one sees him… right?
The finger made contact with the waxy surface of the printed cardboard, landing right in the center of the swirl.
Poke.
Poke, poke, poke.
Anjou Mamoru was right. This kid really is cute. Perhaps too cute for a boy his age. Somehow or another, he could imagine how it would be like to do the same to the real thing.
"H-Hey, what do you think you're doing? S-Stop that…"
That embarrassed expression… those reddened, flushed cheeks… lips that pout slightly in protest… those teary eyes that look away shyly yet occasionally peeked over to glance up at him innocently.
Damn.
If that actually happened… who knows what else he might actually do to the boy?
Oh no. No, no, no.
"Calm down Ibuki Kouji," he chided himself, "There is no way you can let yourself have such thoughts. He is but a stubborn child, yet unaware of the ways of the world. Immature, but only because he is young. Other than that, he's actually pretty adorable… yes, as adorable as an angel, even!"
Little did he know, he was speaking out all his thoughts, and loud enough for everyone in the vicinity to hear, too!
When he realized his mistake, there were numerous glances directed at him, all questioning his sanity. And what made this situation more embarrassing than it already was, was the fact that the very same boy that he was talking about was present in that very area. His face was, obviously, red and buried in his hands. He was probably too ashamed to look up. His teammates were also present, standing in front of him as if to protect him. Anjou Mamoru's kid sister was attempting to glare him down, but unfortunately looks alone are not enough kill a person. The Kiba brat looked no less hostile and was even in a position where he was ready to slug him if necessary.
For the first time in his twenty years of living, Ibuki had no idea how he was supposed to act in a situation.
He practically declared his interest in the boy to the world. And judging from the heat of his cheeks, he had definitely landed himself in a very, very. What was he to do now?
First, he should do something about the awkward silence. It might help.
"C-C-C-Chrono, this… I…" Well, that certainly did not come out right. "I'm sor-"
"Don't apologize! Idiot!" Before Ibuki could string his sentence together, Chrono yelled out, glaring at him from behind his teammates. "Stupid! Moron! Bastard! Idiot! Don't say such embarrassing things in public! And don't call me so casually by my first name! You'll give people the wrong idea. Idiot!"
More than being baffled at the outburst or at being called an idiot three times, Ibuki was appalled at how Chrono spat those words out in his embarrassment. The sheer level of the red-headed boy's cuteness shot through his heart like an arrow. This… could turn out to be a potentially bad situation for him.
“Everyone! This is no time to be standing around!" If it were not for the timely return of the Kagerou clan leader, everyone would probably have been standing there for the rest of the day. "We don't have all day, so let's all get back to work! The faster we get to it, the earlier we finish!"
"Y-Yes sir!"
"As for you three," Mamoru continued as he approached his sister and her teammates, "There's a little something I need you to help me with. Do you mind waiting for me inside the office? There are some drinks there, do help yourself to them while you wait for me."
"S-Sure. Let's go, Shion, Chrono."
"Yeah."
Chrono said nothing as his teammates ushered him away. However, as he was walking away, he turned around just once to glance at Ibuki one last time. That expression he had as he gazed shyly at him… that very image was burned into Ibuki's memory.
That was the finishing blow.
"Ibuki-kun, are you all right? You don't seem like yourself."
"I…" Ibuki began, but decided to not say anything at the moment. "It's nothing. I should be going. I have something on."
"I see. Thank you for taking the time to drop by when you're so busy. Shall I send you off at the entrance?"
"It's fine. You're plenty busy yourself."
"If you insist, I shall not press on. Hope to see you again sometime soon."
"Yeah."
After he was sure that the silver-haired youth was out of sight (and earshot), Mamoru took out his cellphone and dialed a certain number.
"Helloooooo!"
"Branch chief?"
"Oh! Mamoru-kyun? How did it go? I expect you have good news for me?"
"Indeed I do. Our plan was a success. Do inform branch chief Kanzaki immediately."
"Righty-o!"
As he ended the call and slipped his phone back into his pocket, Mamoru could not help but to keep a smile in his face.
"We gave you the first push. Now it is up to you to grab your own happiness. All the best of luck to you, Ibuki-kun."

"For the last time, Miwa," Kai sighed, exasperated at his friend's persistence . "I do not have anyone who I am interested in. And when I mean 'interested', I meant it in terms of romantic interest."
"Yeah, right."
"You don't believe me, do you?"
"Of course."
Kai was tempted to roll his eyes, but he resisted. No matter what he did or said, the blonde would not change his opinion on the matter. That made Kai wonder if he was actually that easy to read, or if Miwa was actually capable of reading minds.
Either way, he would have to get this off Miwa's mind, and fast. If not, this would continue the rest of the day.
"Enough idle chit-chat." He hoped he managed to maintain his usual expression. "Let's fight."
"Fine with me. It's not like you have anyone else to fight now, since Aichi and the rest aren't here yet."
Kai tried to ignore the fact that Miwa purposely emphasized his crush— er, his mate's name.
"Say, Kai? Why don't we make a little bet?"
"A bet?"
"Yeah. If you win, I won't mention another word regarding what we were talking about earlier."
"Sounds good to me."
"But if I win, you'll have to confess to your little crush in front of everyone here."
"… that is absurd. I'm not going along with this ridiculous farce."
"Ohh? So you're gonna run away?"
Miwa was obviously provoking him, but he cannot give in that easily.
"I am not running away."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Hey, everyone! THE great Kai Toshiki is running away! From a match that he started, too!"
That was it.
"Be silent, Miwa, and prepare yourself. I'll make you regret uttering every little syllable that you just did."
"Oh hoh… can't say I'm looking forward to that."
"Are you ready?"
"When you are."
"Good. Let us begin. Stand up!"
"Stand up!"
"The vanguard!"
"Vanguard!"
- One fight later… -
"How is it possible that I lost…?"
"Whew! I actually beat Kai for once! Must be my lucky day! Or maybe it's because it's my birthday today! Yay!"
"I don't believe that anyone could have luck good enough to pull a critical trigger in each of his three drive-checks, and all in a row too."
"Well, judging from your hand it was pretty hard for you to have guarded any attacks early…"
"I demand a rematch."
"Sure… but first, you have to honour your word, since you lost our bet. After all, a man does not take back his words."
Miwa pointed his finger towards the direction which Kai's back was facing.
"… What?" Kai turned his head, and as he did a group of people entered the shop.
"Good afternoon!" A familiar voiced chirped as he walked in. "Oh? Kai-kun and Miwa-kun, you sure are early today."
"Yo, Aichi." Miwa returned the greeting, before nudging Kai. "Well, go on."
Kai shot Miwa a glare that went ignored.
He silently stood up from his seat and walked over to where Aichi was standing. The latter hadn't moved, as he was curious as to what Kai and Miwa were going on about.
"Aichi."
"W-What is it, Kai-kun?"
The distance between them now were just mere centimeters. In Kai's eyes Aichi looked confused and distressed… and for certain reasons, absolutely adorable.
The poor dear almost jumped when Kai suddenly grabbed him by the shoulders. He would have squeaked out the brunette's name to question his intentions as well, but unfortunately he was incapable of speaking since his lips had been captured by Kai's.
Everyone in the shop either had their eyes as wide as dinner plates or their jaws dropped to the floor in reaction to this unexpected scene. Naoki became silent for several whole seconds. Shingo fainted. The lens of Shin's glasses shattered. Even Misaki was unable to react to what everyone had just bore witness to.
"K-Kai-kun…?" The first thing Aichi, flustered and face as red as the Red Rose Musketeer, could do was to speak out Kai's name.
"Aichi, I like… no, I love you. Would you allow me the pleasure of being your most important person?"
"Kai-kun, I… I…" Poor Aichi looked as if he wanted to bury his face someplace where no one could see.
"Your answer, Aichi." Kai whispered huskily into Aichi's ear. "Let me hear it?"
"I…" he struggled to find the words to reply, but all that came out was one simple word. "… Yes."
"Thank you, Aichi." Kai's warm smile was more dazzling than light reflected off the foil coating of an SP card could ever be. "I promise, I would not let you go ever again."
"Un." Aichi nodded shyly.
And now, there was an awkward bout of silence and a thick tension in the air, which would have been difficult to break if not for Misaki's intervention.
"You two, that's about enough. If you want to continue, do it outside. You're causing a ruckus in the shop."
"My apologies, Tokura. Come, Aichi. Let's head out for a while."
"Y-Yes!"
And the two left hand-in-hand.
After making sure that they were indeed gone, Miwa whipped out his cellphone and sent the snapshot he had taken earlier of the shocking kiss scene to his beloved over L*NE. The image was accompanied with a message:
I won our bet. Jun, you owe me a thousand yen.

(NSFW/Repost) [Kuroko no Basuke] Flipped Switches [AkaKuro, AoKi]

Warnings for: Violence, Bullying, Harassment, Character Abuse, Bad Language aka. Profanities that are so bad that this author wouldrather die than use them in real life, OOC characters (especially Kuroko), Yuri (fem!Akashi/fem!Kuroko and fem!Aomine/fem!Kise)
Author's notes: This was originally part of the AkaKuro AU Challenge (Day 35, Bullies AU), inspired from Skip Beat!'s Box-R arc (AS MENTIONED IN MY ORIGINAL AN BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T READ AND DARED TO ASK ME IN THE REVIEWS), so the setting is about the same as the time Kyouko as Natsu confronted Chiori as Yumika, which is at the karaoke.
All characters are gender-bended and they are all in high school, which means that it's yuri instead of yaoi this time. However, this story is supposedly rated for violence and language… amidst other things. I had intended to test my limits on scenes that require more brutal treatment of characters, so I'll see how far I can go. Also, any slut-shaming (if any) is not intended. Another point is that I started this when I had a fever so I was a little out of my mind back then.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters from Kuroko no Basket.
"It's you, isn't it? The heartless person who tormented Tatsumi with those threats and even beat her up? Do you know that she's in hospital now; after all you had done to her? Thanks to you and your little gang spreading those lies about her, she can't even show her face outside anymore, much less in school! Don't you have anything to say about that, you cruel witch?"
At the accusation from her schoolmate Kagami Taiga, Akashi Seika did not even bother to look up from her nails. Her eyes were fixed instead on the movements of her friend's, Kise Ryouko's, hands as they worked on her nails with the skills of a professional manicurist. However, she had heard every word that was being hurled at her; there wasn't a need for her to reply personally, because someone else would in her steed.
"Hah? Tatsumi? Who the hell is that?"
The person who did so was Aomine Miki, the tallest girl of the five girls currently present in the room. She was sprawled over the cushioned seats with her legs up, not the least bothered that she was exposing her panties to the world.
"I believe she is referring to Himuro Tatsumi, Miki-san. You mean you have forgotten? She was the one who dared to act against Seika-san recently, and you were the one who put her in her place."
The girl who sat in between Akashi and Aomine was the complete opposite of the latter. Kuroko Tetsuna sat with the grace and manner of a well-bred lady, her legs closed together and feet on the floor. Her emotionless expression accompanied her monotonous voice, as she remains unaffected by the commotion around her.
"Hmm… that one, huh? I really can't seem to remember her, though."
"How mean of you, Mikicchi. She even put up such a splendid display for us, being able to pick a fight with you of all people. The very least you can do is remember her name."
"Like I bother."
"You… You're despicable! All of you! Don't you have the least bit of remorse after hurting someone?"
"Remorse? Why? It's not like we have that much time to think about every little person who crosses our path."
"I don't want to hear you speak, ganguro bitch! I want to hear it directly from that leader of yours!"
"A person like you is a million years too early to even make Seika-san lift her finger; for her to even utter a word would take much longer than that. Kagami-san, do you even realize what kind of situation you have gotten yourself in? You are now like a newborn poodle in front of a lioness. You better quit while you're ahead, if you do not want to make things worse for yourself."
"Only a fool would ignore Tetsu's advice like that, so you better be a good girl and leave now when you can."
"Hah? You have to be joking! I'm not going to leave until you agree to apologize to Tatsumi for what you have done and visit her at the hospital!"
It was silent for several long moments, until Aomine and Kise both burst in laughter, even to the point of clutching their stomachs and even doubling over.
"W-What's so amusing? I'm being serious here! You'll be sorry if you thought I was joking!"
"So barks the newborn poodle. What do you think, Seika-san?"
"Hmm…" their leader mused without taking her eyes off her nails. "Let's see..."
"Oi, Seika, you mean you're actually considering of doing something about it? You got to be kidding me, right?"
"Silence, Miki. I can't think with you blabbering on and on like that."
"Who are fooling, Seika-san? You aren't even putting in effort to pretend to think."
"As expected of my adorable Tetsuna, you know me the best."
"Please, you're flattering me."
"So, what are we going to do? It's not like Seicchi would ever to do anything with her own hands."
"So? What are we going to do? If we dilly dally for too long, the poodle's gonna start getting impatient and start nipping at something."
"There is no need to worry; dogs who can only bark do not bite."
"Nice one, Tetsu!"
"K-Kehh!" Kagami clenched her fists in anger as she took in every word they spat about her.
"What is it, Pochi, you got something to say to us?"
"Now now, Miki. It's not polite to refer to a mutt by such a commonly given name when it already has its own."
"Though that name is more suited for a little kitten rather than a pup, I say. So, what next, Seicchi?"
"Hmm..."
"Oi oi oi. That again, Seika? Even I'm finding this boring already, so make up your mind, even if it's on a whim."
"Let's see... I just got a fantastic idea. Why don't we play around with her for a bit?"
"Again? We didn't we just start with a brand new toy just the other day?"
"You mean Makoto? But well, you know how I can never say to having more than just one. Why don't we just have some fun with this other one just this once, just to pass the time?"
"Sounds great to me! Let's get this started!" Aomine grinned springing up from her seat and ready to get into action.
"Calm down, Miki. I wasn't finished with my instructions yet."
"Oh?"
"Tetsuna."
"Yes, Seika-san?"
"May I leave it into your hands this time?"
"I do not mind, but why me of all people?"
"I have noticed that you have been holding back for a long time now, just to let Miki and Ryouko have some fun of their own. Also, it has been a while since I've seen you let loose, so I don't see why you shouldn't. I'll even throw in a small reward if you wish."
"You are just giving me no excuse to refuse, aren't you?"
"Perhaps so. But even without that reward I promised, you'll still do it, won't you?"
"Isn't that a given? Tetsucchi can never say no to Seicchi."
"Sending someone like that… are you going easy on me? I can easily overpower someone like that!"
"Hey, that newborn poodle over there. I think you got the wrong idea."
"Hah?"
"We aren't sending out Tetsucchi against you because we are going easy against you. In fact, it's the opposite. If you don't know what I'm trying to imply then you'll have to see for yourself."
"Tetsuna?" Akashi gave her friend a small smile, finally looking up from her nails. Even though the rest of her sentence remained unspoken, it was clearly understood by her three friends.
"I understand, Seika-san. How much would you like to be entertained today?"
"How much, you ask... let's see, I'm in the mood for Level 5 today."
"Level 5… you say?"
"Yes. And I expect you to provide me the best entertainment possible from while the colour dries until Ryouko finishes applying the top coat. Can you meet my expectations, Tetsuna?"
"Leave it to me, Seika-san."
XXX
"And now for the next question, Kagami-san." That was what was into Kagami's ear by the girl who was straddling her from behind, her weight pushing her down onto the hard floor and a hand pulling her hair in a manner that her head was forced back. Her voice was laced with "In what year did Tokugawa Ieyasu receive from Emperor Go-Youzei the title of Shogun?"
"T-The year... 1600...!"
"Oopsie, you guessed wrong. That may be the year he came to power, but the right answer is... the year 1603."
A chuckle escaped from the girl's lips, as she tugged Kagami's hair harder to pull her head further back. In her other hand was a large PET bottle, only half-filled with liquid; the other half had already been used earlier. Kuroko repositioned herself, so that her knee was digging into Kagami's back. The taller of the two girls could not hold back her gasp of pain from having pressure put on her backbone, and a good amount of the cola remaining the plastic bottle was dumped into her gaping mouth. Unable to swallow it all, the dark brown liquid overflowed from her mouth down her chin and neck.
An expression of sadistic glee was now on Kuroko's previously expressionless face as her victim coughed, choked and spluttered, writhing under her weak and helpless.
"Let us continue, shall we? This should be an easy question for you. Which day in July 1853 did Commodore Perry arrive on the shores of Japan?"
"The... fourth!"
"Uh-uh. It is the fourteenth. My apologies if you were actually thinking of Independence Day. Time for another round of punishment, it seems."
She held the bottle over her victim's head once again.
"N-No! Please st—!"
In the meantime, as Kuroko was happily playing, Aomine watched with raised eyebrows next to Akashi, who was still having her nails done.
"Whoa. Tetsu always acts like a different person when she's enjoying herself. It's scary how she's ditching out those questions and playing with her without dropping her polite speech. Think that poodle has pissed herself yet?"
"It's like some forbidden switch in her head that should be left untouched was flipped. Then again, people like that interest you the most, don't they, Seicchi?"
"You are right, but that not only it, Ryouko. She and I... we are both alike, and very much so."
"But Level 5 for her first time? I feel can't help but to feel pity for that poodle."
"Oh? But it's also Tetsucchi's first time doing Level 5, if I'm not mistaken."
"S-Seriously? You mean the last time she her switch was flipped wasn't Level-5?"
"I'm afraid it wasn't."
"Whoa."
"But if I'm not mistaken, I heard that this poodle grew up in America? Wouldn't Japanese history be a little tough for her? Even for Mikicchi, who hasn't left the country even once, it's already difficult enough."
"Hey. I took offence to that."
"Are you going to hit me, Mikicchi?"
"If I weren't in love with your boobs I would."
"You mean you love my boobs more than you do me? I'm hurt, Mikicchi!"
"Yeah, whatever."
"Replying to your question before you started your little couple's quarrel with Miki, Ryouko… who cares whether it will be difficult for her or not? As long as it's entertaining, I can't be bothered about the small details."
"... You are one hell of a cruel woman, Akashi Seika. Is that really blood that runs in your veins, not ice and snow?"
"Or so I have been asked many, many times. I'm just an ordinary human being, just like you and Ryouko, Miki."
"I find that incredibly hard to believe, though."
"Hey, Tetsucchi's cola bottle just got emptied. Looks like things are going to get really serious from here."
"Moving on... Which year did the policy of Sakoku end?"
"The year... 1854..."
"Oh? Not bad. But I was asking for the era, following the Japanese Imperial Calendar, and the corresponding year. This would mean that you are dead wrong."
With a hard kick, Kagami was forced onto her back. She held onto the edge of the nearby table, trying to stand, but failed to do so as Kuroko grabbed her arms and pinned them above her head. Hovering above her victim with a smile of malicious ecstasy, she started to run her hand up Kagami's thigh, pushing the hem of her skirt up to fully expose her legs and her underwear.
"S-Stop! What are you doing?"
"Unfortunately for you, Kagami-san," With each word spoken, Kuroko slowly unbuttoned the other girl's blazer before doing the same to the white long-sleeved blouse she wore underneath. "We have run out of cola, thanks to how stupid you are. The real fun begins here and now."
"P-Please, stop..."
"I am afraid I cannot do that. If I recall, I gave you warning earlier, but you did not heed it. For getting into a situation such as this, you have no one to blame but yourself."
Reaching into the pocket of her blazer, she took out a marker.
"W-What is that?"
"This, Kagami-san, is something called a permanent skin marker. I recently received it from Seika-san as a gift." She uncapped the marker, dropping the red cap back in her pocket. "It's a wondrous thing that has helped me in many situations."
"P-Perma…nent…?"
"Hey, that looks like fun! Tetsu, lemme in on this!"
"Be my guest."
"Hoo-ray!" Aomine grinned, hopping over to the table to help Kuroko hold their victim down. Kagami tried to keep Aomine away, but without avail. "Whoa. Hold still, you little piece of shit. Don't you go moving about; I might have to break something of yours if you do."
"Let's see... what's that phrase the people over that side of the world like to use when they're trying to seduce someone? Ah, yes… 'Fuck me'… was it? Let's engrave it where everyone can see, shall we? For example..." Using her knee she forced Kagami to spread her legs further apart, placing the nib of the marker on her right thigh, on the curve between her inner and outer parts of it. "Here?"
"N-No! Not ther—!"
"Do it, Tetsu!"
"With pleasure."
If Aomine's hand wasn't clamped over her mouth, Kagami would have started shrieking in her protest.
Kuroko clicked her tongue, pulling the marker away. "Miki-san, think you could help a little over this end instead of ogling at her jugs? I cannot write if she is thrashing and moving around like that in such a violent manner."
"Right-o."
"You do not plan to deny that you were ogling, were you?" Kuroko rolled her eyes. "Make sure she is unable to move around too much... ah, can you not put your legs in a hold over there? If you do that, I cannot write."
"Jeez, stop being fussy and do it already."
"Yes yes, I know." Now with her victim held firmly down Kuroko was able to proceed. "Let's see... how was it spelt again? 'F'... 'U'... 'C'..."
"Doesn't 'C' come before 'U'?"
"No, it doesn't, Mikicchi."
"There, it is done. Where and what else shall we write?"
"How about from here," Aomine pressed her finger onto Kagami's left collarbone and ran it down to her breast. "To here?"
"What do you have in mind?"
"I wonder... Ryou, got any ideas?"
"Hmm... How about this one: 'Suck my tits'?"
"Oh, your favourite phrase? That's a good one! Tetsu, do it!"
"Coming right up."
"Hey, that's not my favourite!"
"Oh, right. I forgot your favourite one was 'lick my cunt'."
"Oi!"
"If you two are going to flirt, please find yourselves a private room where no one can hear you."
"Sorry 'bout that, Tetsu."
"By the way, that was a good one. Shall we use it?"
"Yeah! Why not?"
"Where shall I put it?"
"Anywhere that's big enough. How about her stomach?"
"That'll do."
"Mm! Mm mmnn nghh!" By this time Kagami was truly frightened, so much so that she started tearing up. However, that did not mean that the brutal harassment would cease.
"Sorry dear, can't hear a word you're trying to say."
"Shall we move on, or is there anything else you want me to write?"
"Is there anywhere else?"
"Her left thigh's still untouched."
"Let's go for 'I (heart) dicks'? Or maybe 'cocksucker' might be better."
"Sometimes I am amazed by how vulgar your language can be, Miki-san." Kuroko gave a little sigh as she followed along with her friend's whim. "I am not surprised if we used all of Carlin's Seven Dirty Words already."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. I was speaking to myself." After she was done writing the last word, she recapped the marker and put it back in her pocket.
She stepped away from Kagami to fetch another bottle, one that was handed to her by Kise.
"Aww, no more?" Aomine feigned a pout, but still retaining the amused expression on her face in anticipation to what her friend had planned next.
"I decided to try something else. Please do me a favour and turn our poodle around, so that her face is facing the table. And when you're done, I would like you to step aside, Miki-san. I do not want this getting on your person."
Kagami's position was changed to her earlier one, when she was being quizzed by Kuroko, who was now re-straddling her at the waist. The bottle in the latter's hand opened with a 'pop', and just as the stench of chemical fumes reached her nose the entire bottle of nail polish remover was dumped over her head. Fortunately, none of it got into her eyes or mouth.
"Eww, that stuff smells nasty." Aomine grimaced, pinching her nose and retreating a few steps. "So that's why you told me to step back, huh."
"No, that is not it, actually." Kuroko took another object from that same pocket and lifted it up to show it to Aomine, whose eyes widened in surprise.
"Doesn't that belong to that girl... Haizaki was it?"
"She 'gave' it to me the other day as a peace offering of sorts, when Ryouko-san went to teach her a lesson last month."
"Looks like the offering wasn't good enough for our fashionable little princess."
"But of course; who would want something like that?"
"No one, usually, unless you are a fan of cancer sticks. Still, I never thought that it would end up being useful." Kagami was freed of the hold on her, and the girl remained on the floor, unable to move from where she sat.
With a flick or two of her thumb, Kuroko managed to ignite the flame on the lighter in her hand. She bent down in front of Kagami, and slowly she moved the lighter closer to her face, stopping just about a hand's width away.
"Say, Kagami-san, I heard that you like to play with fire. How about this? I will set you free… if you would go up in flames. What would you say to that? It's a good deal, is it not?"
"N-No…" Kagami jerked her head back as far as she could, trying her best to put some distance between her acetone-soaked skin and the naked flame. She tried to move back, as far as she could, but with the edge of the table poking at her back she knew that it would be a futile effort.
"I am sorry, but I am afraid that you do not have a choice."
Slowly the flame was brought closer and closer to Kagami's face, and she shut her eyes, whispering a silent prayer in her head. It seemed to have worked, because just as the flame was mere centimeters close to her face, a command was issued.
"Stop."
It was only a single word, but it was more than enough to make everything and everyone, perhaps even time, stop. The reason behind that was not because of the word that was spoken but rather from whose lips it was spoken.
"... Seika-san?"
"That's enough, Tetsuna. As much as I would like to allow you to continue, it would be too much of a risk. Even you would not go as far as to damage a lady's face, would you?"
"I see. I understand." Kuroko extinguished the fire of the lighter and put it away. "I shall stop here."
"Che, it's over already? What a waste, since we finally got to see Tetsu let loose and go all the way for once."
"What do you mean by, 'for once', Miki-san? Are you implying that I constantly portray myself as a person who is uptight?"
"It's not that you're uptight, Tetsucchi, you're just too reserved. Or at least, that's how most people think of you."
"Is that how it seems?"
"It's not how it 'seems' more than how it actually is."
"But that is what makes Tetsuna who she is, isn't it?"
"Speaking of which, Seika-san, where's my reward?"
"… I guess that bit about wanting to be spoilt is also what makes Tetsucchi who she is, huh?"
"I do not want to hear that from you, Ryouko-san."
"S-So mean, Tetsucchi!"
"Since you can't wait, it can't be helped. Come here, Tetsuna."
Kuroko did as she was told, and walked over to where Akashi was still sitting.
"I meant here, my dear." Akashi patted her lap, and raised both arms out towards her beloved.
"Is it okay?"
"If I'm the one who told you to, then it's fine, isn't it? Come, we don't have time to waste"
Kuroko didn't say anything in reply to Akashi, and instead did as she was told to. With her legs positioned at her side, she sat on Akashi's lap and wrapped her arms around her shoulders. She said nothing else, allowing the other girl to stroke her hair tenderly with one hand and the other to rest on the curve of her hips.
Akashi let out a small chuckle and commented, "You're so light, Tetsuna. Have you been eating enough?"
"I have my three meals a day without fail."
"That's no good, then. You need to eat more. Your portions are barely enough to feed a mouse."
"That is an exaggeration."
"But the fact that you eat too little still remains. We are going out for dinner tonight, and I expect you to finish everything I put on your plate."
"Are you trying to kill me?"
"I'm doing this out of concern for you. Don't complain."
Kuroko pouted, but mumbled out a hushed "Yes, Seika-san." in reply. Akashi smiled, and cupping the back of Kuroko's head she brought their faces closer together so she could capture those pink lips in a firm, deep kiss.
Having expected this, Kuroko allowed her eyes to flutter close and herself to sink into the kiss. She responded to it with as much eagerness as Akashi, but did not take the lead and left the helm to her beloved. Even though she was physically on top, she simply followed along, going with the flow. When she felt that her lover had enough of simply locking lips and wanted to go further, she opened her mouth slightly, and immediately Akashi took the opportunity to slide her tongue into her mouth.
As their mouths were occupied, Akashi managed to grasp at another opportunity. The hand that was on Kuroko's hip moved, and pulling out a portion of her tucked-in shirt out of her skirt she slid it under her clothes, feeling the warm skin of her stomach. This elicited a muffled gasp from Kuroko, but the kiss was not broken. Smirking in the kiss at the thought of teasing her lover, Akashi decided to test how far she could go.
She moved that hand further up, up, up... until she could feel the under-wire of her lover's bra. Her fingers slid smoothly under the cloth-covered metal, and stretching out her hand, she took the firm breast in her palm and squeezed it, hard. Into the kiss Kuroko moaned, in both pain and pleasure. Akashi's other hand soon followed along, mimicking the actions of its companion. This time, the kiss was broken, and both Kuroko and Akashi panted for air. Even though their lips were now parted they were now gazing lovingly into each other's eyes.
"Once more." Akashi smirked as she caught her breath, leaning in for another round.
That is, until they were unglamorously interrupted by Aomine.
"Oi oi oi! Would the two of you stop already? Sheesh! I don't see how the two of you can complain about me and Ryou so much when you two are the more perverted couple!"
"Miki, you seem to be mistaken. We are not perverted. Rather, Tetsuna and I are simply madly in love with one another."
"I expected that kind of answer." Kise murmured under her breath, doing her best to look away from what they had just witnessed. "Seicchi is the only person who can pull that line off without feeling the least bit embarrassed about it. But seeing how Tetsucchi isn't as bothered as we are, I can safely conclude that that's another switch of hers that got flipped."
"Stop talking about me as if I am a box of switches." Kuroko frowned, sliding herself off Akashi's lap and onto the cushioned seats.
"Sorry, Tetsucchi."
"Apology accepted."
"By the way, what happened to the poodle? I was so occupied with Tetsuna that it had slipped my mind completely."
"About that, the moment you made Tetsu stop and called her over to your side, she fainted. Ain't showing signs of waking up soon, though? What shall we do with her?"
"Let's just leave her here, shall we?"
"Good idea. But before we go, the least we can do is button up her blouse. What if someone sees her like this?"
"You worry too much, Ryouko. I had this room booked and paid for until closing time, yet it's only five thirty in the afternoon. No one will come in for the next five hours. I'm sure she will regain consciousness by then."
"I guess."
"So what are we gonna do now? I don't think any of us are in the mood for karaoke anymore."
"Why don't we just leave? It's a Friday after all."
"I don't have anything to do, though."
"Then why don't we go on a date, Mikicchi? In exchange, I'll play basketball with you for the whole of next week."
"Deal."
"What about Tetsucchi and Seicchi? Going out for dinner?"
"Actually, I changed my mind."
"Huh?" Kuroko blinked, not knowing what Akashi was trying to imply.
"I was thinking that we... Tetsuna and I should just head back to my house."
"We cannot do that, Seika-san. What about your father?"
"Papa just left for London this morning. He won't be back until two weeks later. And besides, all the servants already know the truth about our relationship, so there's nothing to hide. In fact, we even have two or ten supporters, so there is no risk of our secret getting leaked."
"T-Two or ten?!" Kise murmured in surprise, but it went ignored.
"That is not my point, Seika-san."
"You mean that you would actually refuse sharing a rose-petal bath with me? And a hearty, home-cooked dinner by one of the best chefs Japan has ever produced, over the warmth of the candlelight? And we can spend all night on what you had named the softest, most comfortable bed in the world; I have recently acquired some new, interesting toys that I'm sure will keep us entertained for the entire night. How about it, Tetsuna? I'm sure you wouldn't say no to a night of hot, steamy game of passion; I'll be glad to make you come as much as you wa—"
"Gahhh! Too many details! Too! Many! Details!" Aomine grimaced, flailing her arms in protest as she interrupted Akashi. "Can the two of you leave that kind of talk to your private time? My ears are being corrupted!"
"I agree with Mikicchi, but I don't want to hear that last line from a girl who spouts profanities every other time that she speaks."
"So, Tetsuna, how about it? Would you like to come over for the weekend?"
"As much as I love to, I cannot do so. I have yet to inform my parents about this matter."
"I'd knew you would say something like that, so I phoned your mother this morning to ask for her permission. She happily agreed to let you stay over the entire weekend and even on Sunday nighy itself, with the condition that you finish all your homework."
Kuroko sighed, tempted to place her palm over her face in exasperation. "I had forgotten how fond my parents are of you."
"So with that settled, you will be staying with me for the next two days, Tetsuna. Make sure you prepare yourself properly, I'm going to give you and your body so much loving that by the end of the weekend you'd be addicted to it and begging for more."
"Arghh! I can't stand anymore of this! Ryou, let's go!"
"Coming, Mikicchi! Let me pack my stuff first!"
"Five seconds."
"Too short!"
"Five, four, three..."
"I got it! I'm rushing already, so quit giving me so much pressure! Sheesh!" literally dumping everything in her bag, she zipped it up and hoisted it on her shoulder. "Seicchi and Tetsucchi, see you on Monday!"
And with that, the two made their exit. As the door closed, Akashi also stood up. She took Kuroko's hand in hers, and tugged on it.
"It's about time we leave too."
"Yes, Seika-san."
The couple gathered their bags, and lacing the fingers of their connected hands together they left the room.
"But you know, Tetsuna, I think what Ryouko said about you was true."
"About what? The switches?"
"Of course I was referring to that. It is rather refreshing to see so many different sides of you. It makes things interesting."
"Please do not refer to me as one of your playthings. That is one thing that even I cannot tolerate."
"I know, and I didn't mean it that way. Did I accidentally offend you?"
"No, you did not do such a thing."
"That's a relief then. I wouldn't know what to do if Tetsuna was to be angry with me."
"You know I would not be able to stay angry with you."
"You won't?"
"I would not, and I mean it."
"That's a relief, then. Oh, I just had a great idea. Why don't you try Level 5 on Makoto sometime? It would be as entertaining as what we have all witnessed earlier, I can assure you."
"I am not as sure as you about that. After all, she is smarter than me in terms of academics, that is for sure, so I would need to come up with something before I can actually do it. But my final decision would be based on every little thing that we do over the weekend, so I guess you would have to work hard to convince me."
"Oh, trust me, my precious Tetsuna. By the time Monday comes, I'm sure you'll be very, very convinced."
With a small smirk tugging on her lips Kuroko replied, "I shall look forward to it, then."
Can you write something about Valentine with AoKuroko, AkaKuroko, or Kaichi?
Hey there, Anon! I had initially planned to get something done for Valentine’s, but unfortunately I was down with a very bad cold and considering that I have my assignments due in three weeks and my part-time job, I won’t be able to finish by then. I’ll aim to finish something by White day!
Author’s notes: I have yet to write the installment regarding the results of the poll; will do so soon enough. In the meantime, here’s another story of the KaiAi+Tasuku family to keep you entertained!
For those who haven’t read the pilot chapter, here it is: http://double-cast.tumblr.com/post/92343105483/
In this particular one-shot, Kai is 32 and Aichi are 31 (both their birthdays have yet to pass) and Tasuku is in his first year of elementary school.
Disclaimer: I do not own both Cardfight!! Vanguard and Future Card Buddyfight and both their franchises.
Kai Toshiki always starts his mornings to the ring of his alarm clock.
Grunting, he would turn it off within ten seconds, sparing his ears from the pain of having to hear the electronic beeping-sound. He would then lay back down again for about a minute or two, allowing himself some time for his brain to start up.
Once he was awake, he would get out of bed to head to the washroom to brush his teeth and shave… guaranteed that he could, that is. More often than not he would find an arm being held captive, trapped in the embrace of the pair of arms that belonged to his wife. He would try to pry it free, but was often unable to escape from the latter’s grip. Often he would try to wake Aichi, so that he could free him, but it was almost impossible.
Sighing, he would then remain in bed for a little while longer, until Aichi’s own alarm sounds. It would be switched off a minute or two later, and finally he was free. However, he wouldn’t leave the bed just yet.
"Good morning, Toshiki-kun," Aichi would mumble as he smiled at him after turning over towards his direction.
"Good morning, Aichi." he would reply, before leaning in for their usual good-morning kiss.
Their lips melted together slowly, and several seconds later they parted.
"Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah. You?"
"Same."
"That’s good."
After a brief cuddle in bed, Kai is finally able to start his day properly. He would drag his feet and still half-asleep wife to the washroom, where they would brush their teeth and wash up, getting freshened up to start another day on the right note.
From here, Kai would start on preparing breakfast, while Aichi would wake their son up in time for school.
Breakfast in the Kai family was usually made Western-style: eggs, bread and sometimes sausages or ham with a salad on the side. Today’s eggs were fried sunny side-up, with cooked yolks for the young one since he liked them that way. Once he was done, he got started on making boxed lunches for Aichi and Tasuku. Unlike some elementary schools, the school Tasuku attends doesn’t provide lunch for its students. However, hearing his son tell him that the food he made was delicious was worth the effort.
After he was done with the food, he fixed two cups of coffee: his with milk and Aichi’s with just a little sugar. For Tasuku, a warm mug of milk with a dash of honey.
When he had just finished setting the table, both Aichi and Tasuku would appear, dressed and ready for their day.
After giving their thanks, they would enjoy their breakfast as a family. As they ate, they would share their schedule for the day, and discuss who would make dinner for that night and what would be made. It was decided that it would be Aichi’s turn to cook that night, and upon the request of Tasuku they would have hamburger steak.
Once they were done, the dishes were placed into the sink, and the two who needed to head to school would prepare to leave.
"Have you forgotten anything that you need to bring?"
"I hope not. See you tonight, Toshiki-kun." Aichi would bid him farewell, accompanied by a kiss on the cheek.
"What about you, Tasuku? You have gym today, don’t you? Don’t forget to bring your spare clothes."
"Got it right here! Bye, papa! Have a good day!" after Aichi it was Tasuku’s turn to bid Kai farewell, and the child stretched up on his tiptoes to give his father a peck on his other cheek.
"Same to the both of you. Have a good day."
"We will. We’ll be heading out."
"We’ll be going!"
Once he had sent them off at the front door, Kai would return to cleaning up the kitchen and dining room. He would do the dishes first before wiping the table, and when that was done it was time to take out the trash. Today was a Tuesday, and for this neighbourhood it was one of the three days for the collection of flammable garbage. Lifting the black trash bag from the flammables bin, he tied it tightly so that both the contents and the smell (if any) could not come out.
On his way back from the collection point, he passed by a group of elderly ladies from his apartment complex who had just finished their morning walk, whom he greeted as his always would. He turned down their offer to join them for their daily breakfast session, as he had already eaten.
When he returned back home it was time to put the clothes to wash. As the machine worked, he would take down the dried clothes from yesterday and fold them in the living room while watching the news. By this time the washing machine was done washing the clothes and he would pop them into the dryer. That gave him plenty of time for the ironing. The clothes would then be sorted and placed into the wardrobe in either Tasuku’s or his and Aichi’s room. After all this the clothes would be ready for hanging on the balcony, if the weather was good.
Once the laundry was done, he would sweep the floor of every room in the apartment. As mopping was done thrice a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, he could pass on it. Once the morning chores were done, it was time for a quick lunch before it’s time for him to start on his work.
People often said that he was lucky to be able to find a job that allows him to work from home, it was not always easy.
After graduating from college, he found a job as a journalist with “Epicurean Japan”, a monthly gourmet and lifestyle food magazine. The magazine not only features articles about food and restaurants of the finest and highest quality, it also includes reviews of regular shops found all over the country, interviews as well as recipes that anyone can follow, even the common housewife. It is prided as the most extensive and informative magazine about Japanese food and food culture in the country.
Specifically, Kai is in charge of the feature that highlights seasonal recipes, for example special recipes that can be made at home to celebrate New Year’s, Christmas and so on. He usually finishes his six-page feature in a less than a week before he sends it in to his editor, who would make comments on it and request for certain changes to be made. It takes another day or two to make those changes, and he would be done for that month. For the rest of the month, he would be tasked with coming up with recipes for the magazine’s triannual special publication: a compilation of recipes centered on a certain theme or ingredient. These recipe books would be sold at bookstores when they are published.
Coming up with new and unique recipes was never an easy task; sometimes he had to go through several rounds of experimentation before he was satisfied. Of course, he could always count on his trusty friends to help him with the taste-testing.
Miwa, who works as a chef and runs his own eatery, was always ready to offer appropriate advice on how he could improve. Ibuki was what people would describe as a gourmet, but Kai prefers to call him a picky eater. However, he does provide some interesting insights on occasion. Chrono, who had often been called upon to help to watch over Tasuku and keep the child company since the latter was a toddler, was another person whom Kai relies on. At times he would pass the red-head some of his recipes to try out, to ensure that they are simple enough to be made at home. This is when Ibuki would come to him complaining, apparently displeased with his lover’s involvement in yet another aspect of the Kai family’s lives. Strangely enough he complains about everything but the food.
Kai would usually be absorbed in his work until Tasuku returns home from school. When he does, Kai would fix him a quick snack and sit down with him by the dining table as the little one does his homework. Of course, he is ready to guide him if there are any problems that he needs help with.
Once that is done, the parent-and-child pair would go for a walk in the nearby park before dropping by the supermarket for ingredients for dinner and next morning’s breakfast. Along the way, Aichi called to say that he would be ending work later than expected, so Kai had to take over the cooking. Once they got home, Kai would set the rice to cook while the tub fills up. After that would be time for a bath before starting on preparing dinner.
Halfway through cooking, Aichi would usually return from work, tired and worn out from a day of teaching and interacting with the students. Kai would get him to take a bath as he finishes with the dishes.
Once Aichi is out of the bath, and has hopefully not fallen asleep while in it, it’s dinner time for the family. After that, it is finally time for Kai to get some rest on the couch, as Aichi and Tasuku put themselves in charge of doing the dishes and cleaning up after the meal.
"Papa! Let’s read together!" Tasuku would usually come to him, with a book from the collection that Aichi and his many ‘godparents’ had bought for him.
"Sure." Kai signaled for the child to sit next to him. "What do you want to read today?"
"This one!"
"Hohh… ‘The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter’, huh. You really like this story, don’t you?"
"Won’t the kanji be a bit hard for him?" Aichi points out, joining them by sitting on the other end of the couch next to Tasuku.
You say that every time, Aichi. Besides, it won’t hurt for him to try a fifth time.”
"I suppose you are right."
"Tasuku, you may start when you are ready."
"Okay!" Balancing the book on his lap the child began reading. "A long, long time ago, there was an old, childless wood… woodca…?"
"Woodcutter."
"Thanks, Papa! Woodcutter, who went by the name of ‘Ta… take’… Mama, how do you read these kanji again?"
"It’s ‘Taketori no Okina’. It means ‘the old man who harvests bamboo’."
"Ohh! Thank you, Mama!"
"Continue, Tasuku."
"Un! The name of ‘Taketori no Okina’. One day, in the bamboo forest, he came across a strange, shining stalk of bamboo. When he cut it open…"
And they would continue until they finished the book, or until Tasuku felt too sleepy to continue. The young one would then be sent to wash up and ready for bed.
"Good night, Tasuku."
"May you have sweet dreams."
"Good night, mama; papa."
After Tasuku had fallen asleep, Kai could finally spend some quality time with his beloved wife; which was not-so-secretly his most favourite time of any day.
On this particular day, couple time began with settling back on the couch, snuggling up to the other.
"Thank you for another day of hard work, Toshiki-kun."
"Same to you, Aichi."
"How was your day?"
"The same as always, I suppose. How about yours?"
"Busy. We’ve just started preparing for the cultural festival."
"Oh? It’s that time of the year already?"
"Yup."
"What’s the Cardfighting Club doing this year? Last year was a cosplay cafe, wasn’t it?"
"The students had many ideas; we had trouble settling on just one. In the end, we decided to try doing a tournament like we did few years ago."
"Would the school allow that? I remember you mentioned that the new principal being very strict on academics or something like that."
"To be specific, we are doing both a tournament and a session for beginners. We actually managed to get approval from the school, but that’s not all the students had in mind."
"Oh?"
"They were actually hoping to get one or two top fighters to come as a guest and play against the winner of the tournament. I told them that they would need approval from the Association, but they didn’t seem to be listening to me."
"They have you already, don’t they?"
"Apparently they wanted me to ask you if you would come."
"Me?"
"Many of my students are your fans. I did mention that before, didn’t I?"
"I vaguely recall that you did." Kai pondered over what Aichi had asked of him for a moment before replying. "I don’t mind, actually."
"Really?"
"Of course. I was planning on bringing Tasuku to the cultural festival anyway, so I don’t see why I shouldn’t help out. But I’ll have to ask someone to bring Tasuku around while we’re both busy…"
"Emi said that she’ll be coming. We could ask her."
"But she’ll be coming with her friends, won’t she? If we ask her to watch over Tasuku we may be imposing on her."
"Ah, that’s true."
"Speaking of which, I think Miwa mentioned that he would be coming."
"Alone?"
"Yeah. He mentioned something about going there to kill time since Jun’s not free. He dotes on Tasuku; I suppose he won’t mind."
"Killing time, he says… doesn’t he have to take care of his shop?"
"His employees are all reliable people. That’s what he always says."
"Miwa-kun has always had a good eye for people."
Kai ignored the odd look Aichi was giving him. “I’ll ask him about helping us with Tasuku tomorrow.”
"Thank you so much, Toshiki-kun!"
"There’s no reason for you to thank me. It’s natural for us to help one another. After all, we are husband and wife." Using his right hand Kai held up Aichi’s hair so that he could place a kiss on his forehead. "Isn’t that right?"
"If you say so." Aichi returned the gesture by reaching up and placing a quick peck on Kai’s nose.
Gazing into each other’s eyes lovingly, the way the main characters of a romance movie would at a critical moment, the two brought their lips together in a soft kiss.
Of course, when their lips parted soon after…
"Aichi, tonight, can we—"
"What are you talking about, Toshiki-kun? I have to work tomorrow."
"But…"
"No buts."
Kai tried to give his wife a look that resembled a sad puppy, but of course Aichi would not give in that easily.
"Oh would you look at the time. I think we should start get ready for bed."
"Does that mean that we will…?"
"If you mean sleep, yes. Anything else, no."
"Aichi…"
"Acting spoilt won’t help change my mind, Toshiki-kun."
"Damn."
After brushing their teeth, the couple turned out the lights and settled into bed for a good night’s slumber.
"Good night, Aichi."
"Good night, Toshiki-kun. Sweet dreams."
"Yeah, you too."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"… You know, Aichi, I think—"
"Please give it a rest already, Toshiki-kun. And while you’re at it, please rest, too."
"Was that intended to be a pun?"
"No."
A minute or two of silence later, Aichi had already fallen asleep. A little while later, Kai managed to as well.
And this was just one of the many days of the life of Kai Toshiki. Some days are filled with more excitement than others, but no matter what happens there is nothing that he cannot handle. Well, nothing except getting rejected by his beloved wife, that is.

Author’s notes: A request from princessanime08, who requested for how Kai and Aichi would handle Tasuku's first illness. It didn't turn out the way she requested, though. Instead, I used my own "experience". Apparently when I was about five months old my mom got chicken pox and passed it on to me. Do note that kids are only given their first immunity jab for chicken pox between 12 to 18 months of age.
For those who haven’t read the pilot chapter, here it is: http://double-cast.tumblr.com/post/92343105483/
In this particular one-shot, both Kai and Aichi are 25 and Tasuku is around ten months old.
Disclaimer: I do not own both Cardfight!! Vanguard and Future Card Buddyfight and both their franchises.
"Aichi, are you awake?"
"Yeah... just..."
"How are you feeling?"
"The same, I suppose. Still feverish and aching all over... and my skin feels creepy, even though I took a bath earlier before I slept. It's itchy and making me feel really uncomfortable."
At the moment, two of the members of the Kai family have been stricken with a certain disease. It started when Aichi came home from work with a high fever and a terrible headache. While the doctor had declared it to be a serious case of stomach flu, no one had expected it to be chickenpox until spots started appearing on his skin. After consulting with the doctor a second time, precautions were taken to keep the little Tasuku free of the disease as it was highly contagious and the infant had yet to receive the vaccination for it.
However, it had been too late; the child had already caught it. It was the first time Tasuku had fallen ill ever since joining the Kai household, and since the rashes and fever were making him uncomfortable he was grouchy and often be crying and wailing in discomfort during his waking hours.
Kai, who already had the disease once before in elementary school, put himself in charge of nursing the both of them back to health. Fortunately, he was not alone. His mother-in-law came over during the day to help with the cooking and watching over the little one, which was a big help to him.
"I will apply some more calamine lotion on you later. Are you feeling hungry?"
"A little, I suppose."
"I just made some porridge. Eat it before you take your medication."
"Sure..." Aichi lifted the lid of the clay pot that had been set on the tray in front of him. "It looks good."
"I added green onions and a little grated ginger, as well as salt and pepper for taste." Kai took the spoon that he had prepared and scooped up a mouthful of the dish. He blew on it to cool it down before offering it to his wife. "Here."
"Y-You don't have to feed me. I can at least eat on my own…"
"You're sick; you have the privilege to be pampered and spoilt."
"That's beside the point."
"Enough talking. Eat."
"…" realizing that he could not win this argument against his husband Aichi obediently gave in. "Thank you for the food."
"How is it?"
"Good."
"Glad to hear that. Make sure you finish it all."
Aichi nodded in reply and was fed spoonful after spoonful of the porridge. After that he took his medication, downing the pills with a glass of water.
"How's Tasuku-kun?" he asked as Kai took the glass from him.
"Asleep in his crib. He has been for about an hour."
"Mom?"
"She left about an hour ago, after we managed to get Tasuku to fall asleep."
"I see. It must be hard for him, having to suffer because of me..."
"It's not your fault, Aichi. Blame the person who decided it was okay to go about in public while having the disease. Well, if you think about it, if Tasuku has it now he wouldn't have to suffer again in adulthood.”
"But I heard from somewhere that there's a small chance that a person who had gotten chickenpox may have it again..."
"Nonsense. What are the chances?"
"You'll never know."
"He'll have to cross that bridge when he comes to it, then."
"I suppose so." As he spoke, Aichi pushed the blankets aside and got onto his feet, much to Kai's confusion.
"… Aichi, why are you getting up?"
"I was thinking of checking on Tasuku-kun. You mean I can't?"
"Isn't it obvious? You aren't well yet; you should remain in bed until you recover. Besides, you saw him just this morning."
"I'm just worried, that's all…"
"I know you are."
"And what if Tasuku-kun misses me? I haven't got to go near him for days."
Kai sighed. "You should be worrying about yourself first. Now get back in bed."
"But…"
"No buts."
"I…" Aichi was about to argue, but he was literally swept off his feet by Kai. Of course, he protested. "Put me down!"
"I'll let you see him in the morning. I promise."
"…" Aichi pouted, not pleased, but this time he did not refute. Instead he let out a huge yawn, indicating that his medication was starting to kick in.
Kai lay Aichi down on the bed and tucked him in, snug and warm. He placed a small peck on his lips as he placed an assuring hand on his forehead.
"Rest well, Aichi. I'll see you in the morning."
"Good night, Toshiki-kun."
"Sweet dreams."
After Aichi had fallen sound asleep, Kai took the tray with the clay pot and empty glass, which had been left aside on the bedside table, turned off the lights and left the room. He brought the items to the kitchen to wash them, and as he was done he heard the child's cry from the nursery. He dried his wet hands with a dishtowel and went to attend to the child.
"Hush, don't cry, Tasuku." he took the little one into his arms, rocking him gently and whispering soft words of assurance to calm him down. "Papa's here for you."
The child clung onto him, obviously in terrible discomfort. His crying softened a little, but it had not stopped. The poor thing must have been awakened by the unbearable itch and ache that came along with the disease; his diaper was not heavy and he had his meal before he was put in his crib earlier.
Kai sat down in the chair in the corner of the room. Holding Tasuku against his chest. The only thing he could do now was to comfort him until he drifted off to sleep once more. He stroked the child's head and hair gently, occasionally rubbing his back.
"Aaaii…" he let out a soft cry, his teary ruby eyes glancing up towards Kai as if asking a silent question.
"Aichi's fine. He's sleeping now, and you should too."
"Aaaaaiii…" this time it sounded closer to a protest, albeit a weak one.
"I know you miss Aichi; he misses you too. But until the both of you get better, just focus on recovering. It must be hard for you to suffer like this, but this experience will make you strong I'm sure, just like any other. Be brave, Tasuku."
The child let out a small groan, or what sounded like one, a little displeased at receiving a ‘lecture’ from his father. He then yawned softly, but was trying to keep his eyes open. His attempt was futile, as he drifted off to sleep a minute or two later, snoozing gently in the snugness and comfort of his father's warmth. Kai held the little one in his arms for a while longer before tucking him back into his crib, making sure that his favourite dragon plush toy was right by his side.
He made a check through the entire house, ensuring that doors and windows were locked properly and that everything was put in its rightful place. Once he was done, he washed up and prepared himself for a good night's rest. He laid down the spare futon in the nursery (in case the little one woke up in the middle of the night he could attend to him quickly) along with his pillow and turned off the light. He tucked himself under the covers, let out a small sigh and closed his eyes.
May the both of them get well and recover soon.
He made this silent wish in his head, before slowly drifting off to sleep. He would need this rest to help him charge up for another day of looking after the two people who was the most important to him.

Please note that this author has been juggling university/college and a part-time job; rushing projects and the lack of sleep just made her snap. Hence this weird thing you have just read.
I was going to extend the poll for another week, but looking at the results I think I don't need to bother.
Aaaaaaaaaand here are the final results.
My baby I mean Chrono-kun wins by a majority vote.
My only comment about this was that I should have saw this coming. I was actually expecting Miwa to get the majority. I hope the RP-ers don't have anything to do with this, though I suppose they do. It's not a bad thing, though?
