“Hmm,” Isabelle grinned, tilting her head in thought. “Tucked in. We don’t want to look too casual.”
“You are truly a fashion life-saver, Isabelle,” they joked, tucking the shirt in and giving her a small spin. “Now I just have to wait until midnight and then I have a kiss I promised to my best friend.”

“You can tell her that yourself.” She replied, wiping away her smile soon after her response. Taking a second to herself, she stared at the sophomore by her side like a wave of realization had poured over her. She had soon pulled that frenzied panic that came without it back though, issuing a shrug. “She wouldn’t know it was you. Besides we’re forgive and forget roomies, so it’ll be fine.”
Levi sat in silence, letting a sort of awkward air wash over them as he downed more of the bottle. After all, he was still trying to avoid the conversation about what had happened earlier that day. “I’ll be sure to call your mom tomorrow to tell her then... That is if I’m not completely hungover because Kelcie’s going to have an empty bottle waiting for her when she comes back.”

The blonde did her best to muffle a smile, running a hand down her face at their laughter. “She seemed fine. You know how it is . . she doesn’t like to tell me anything. Said she loved me like twenty times, so . . I don’t know. It’s - It’s just the medication they put her on.” She admitted rather flatly, trying to brush it off with the slightest shrug. Even if Levi were her best friend, she couldn’t quite bring herself to say much more. “She doesn’t know that you’re drinking this. She’ll be fine. Drinks too much most nights anyways.”
Noticing he’d caused a small smile, Levi couldn’t help but smile himself. “Well, next time you talk to her, tell her I said hello and I loved seeing her at Christmas.” He took another swig of the drink, shrugging as Leanne mentioned that Kelcie didn’t know he was the one drinking it. “It’s not the first time she’d be pissed at me.”

The fingers she combed through her hair blocked the sigh that fled her mouth at their comment. “Yeah. Okay.” She hummed throwing them the controller while she stirred to dig the bottles from under Kelcie’s bed. “I wanted to watch something new and I heard this was good. Didn’t really think about it all that much. I skyped my mom by the way - that’s why it took me so long to text you. She wanted to talk to you, but . . eehhh.” Flinging the booze in his direction, she reached to start pulling a blanket over herself as she settled back into her seat.
“What do you mean ‘eehhh’, I love talking to your mom,” they laughed awkwardly, taking the remote and skipping the previews as the DVD started. “How’s she doing today if I can ask? I mean, you always have the option of not talking about it but...” They trailed off, picking up the bottle and opening it before downing a substantial amount. Even if Levi wanted to hide their troubles, the booze would give it away. “Does Kelcie know we’re drinking this?”

“What kind of stuff?” She questioned before flinging the empty movie case next to the TV. “Think I can’t? It’s not that bad. I mean, I handled the Moulin Rouge. This can’t be a problem.” Taking a moment to bite into her pizza, she examined him from the corner of her eyes - deciding it best not to mention his condition. “I pulled some pillows off of the beds and blankets. I don’t think Kelcie will mind much. Borrowed some of her magazines too . . and booze - if you want any. I think I’ll . . pass.”
He wasn’t sure if the subject of his older brother was too sensitive for her still, so instead he decided to lie, “Just about how messy my side of the room is. He was wondering if something was wrong since it passed what he believed to be an average mess level.” Levi gave a small laugh, taking his first bite of pizza and raising an eyebrow at her, “When do I not want booze? Especially if we’re watching this. I honestly thought tonight would be more of a Spider-Man: Homecoming night.”

The text didn’t come until late - when Leanne was rather certain that Kelcie wouldn’t be returning till after midnight. The movie that she was gripping in her hand when the door to the dorm tipped open was none other than Dunkirk. In her other hand she was balancing a piece of pizza, sitting on the floor to squint at the small and feeble television the two girls had produced. “Pizza’s on Kelcie’s bed.” She informed, her voice noticeably deflated. “What took you so long?”
They shrugged, standing in her doorway for a moment before finally stepping inside. The brunet looked drained, taking the pizza box and sitting down beside her. “I mean, I wasn’t trying to be late. I got caught up talking to Matt about... Stuff.Dunkirk tonight? Think you can handle it?”

Her soft response was little more than a whisper, refusing to move from the few steps she had taken before, “I don’t want to fight either.” Worry had clearly washed over her suddenly, a lack of recollection of that night could mean anything and she desperately did not want to repeat of what happened to her parents. “Uhm, can you just come over later tonight? We can . . eat pizza and talk and watch a movie. I think we need a best friend therapy session.”
Levi nodded at her request, slowly opening their laptop and reopening the sound program. “Yeah, a movie and pizza sounds great... I’ll just have to finish this assignment first, and... Text me whenever you want me there.”

Isaiah stiffened when he felt Levi’s hug mostly cause he didn’t see if coming. He felt Levi’s breath on his shoulder as they spoke and rolled his eyes and hugged back with much less gusto. “Great, glad we figured that out. You good now?”
“Yeah, I’m good,” Levi answered in his usual chipper voice. “And in case you had any doubt, I don’t not like you either. After all, you’ve been kind of taking care of me since I became your little brother. Better than my actual older brother does.”

“D-Don’t be stupid!” The blonde exclaimed, tears still dredging down her cheeks. However, she assumed he was being just that - dumb. Frustration seeped through her features, scoffing. “I’m not going after him at all. I don’t want to . . necessarily. I didn’t ever want to act on that. Not only because of you, but because I don’t want to lust after someone for the rest of my life. I want to love someone for the rest of my life. You know this. I-I’ve told you about my parents a million times. I can’t be like them. They lusted after each other for one night and were stuck with me.” Pumping her cheeks out, she choked on a breath she was pulling in and ran her hands down her face once again as her tears soon resumed. “And that snowballed and now you’re stuck with me. And - look, I . . should go until you want to talk. Until I can . . I’m just . .”
Levi stared as her frustration boiled over. There was no possible way she could be angry with him. However, he didn’t push the subject. Instead, Levi gave a small nod and went back to his computer and his bag. “Yeah, whenever you want to talk... I want you to find someone you love too, but I don’t know... I thought you were implying... I don’t want to fight.”

Elijah nodded, taking the tickets and placing them in his wallet. “Maybe I’ll see if Melina is at all interested in Shakespear.”
“Oh, don’t worry, Shakespeare is everyone’s favorite,” Levi stated dryly, hiding any sarcasm that dared enter their voice. Then, throwing their bag over their shoulder, they offered a small wave, “See you around?”

Leanne found herself sputtering, her tongue working hard to find some elemental truth to attach to her next words. However, she’d hesitated when he’d reached to touch her and their eyes had met. She might have been one of the sweetest people on campus, but she flinched away with such vigor it was difficult to believe that. “Stop. I’m - I’m not crying because of you. I don’t - How are you mad at Jack? If I was the one who kissed him and - and I’m sure I probably did - then how can you be angry with him? You can’t just - I . . Your half-brother is cute and he’s harsh and he s-shouldn’t appeal to me. But he does and I don’t mention that and I didn’t think I would act on it so drunkenly - b-because my mom and you and your entire family. I love you and your family and my mother - but I don’t . . I lust Jack. And that’s wrong and you weren’t ever supposed to know, especially because we’re so - I just - I’m sorry. It’s my fault. It’s all my fault. I’m a terrible best friend.”
When she pulled away, Levi’s face flashed with hurt. Then, as she described how she felt about Jack, the pain slowly settled in. His best friend lusted after the brother that hated him? He knew he shouldn’t be upset since even he was trying to get closer to Jack, but Leanne had been one of the few people he felt like he could tell his insecurities to. Trying to hide his hurt, Levi pursed his lips and looked to the floor before shaking his head, “No. I’m the terrible best friend. You’re going after something-- someone-- you want, and I shouldn’t be mad about that.”

Isabelle rolled her eyes, giggling softly at Levi’s fairy-tale new years fantasy. “Oh yeah, anything could happen.” She smiled widely and started looking through their closet only to turn around when she heard them make a suggestion. “Oh! Well, that’s interesting. I quite like it!”
Looking their floral choice over, they then looked back to Isabelle, raising their eyebrows. “You think this screams I-don’t-care casual? Well, you’re the boss of this shirt rescue mission,” Levi joked, pulling the shirt up their arms before carefully buttoning it. “Last question, tucked in or left out?”

Willow glanced around the room with her hands clasped in front of her as she rocked back and fourth on her feet. Matt’s side was definitely safer than standing on Levi’s side. Since Willow normally preferred comfort she had been wearing a flowing shirt and a maxi skirt. “I’m fine with just a t-shirt.” She smirked and sat on Matt’s bed.
Rubbing the back of his neck, Levi then nodded before moving to his shirt drawer. Struggling with the overflowing piece of furniture, it finally gave out and opened. Eventually, he pulled out a Spider-Man t-shirt before holding it up to her, “Does this work? 2017 was a good year for him.”

Jack raised an eyebrow. “Why the fuck would you ask a question without waiting for an answer? What if I don’t have an second?” He drank so his cup would hide his eyes as they rolled when he spoke of sibling traditions. “I went to Hanukkah once. That does not make it a fucking tradition.”
Furrowing his brow, Levi looked his half-brother up and down before offering a small laugh. He was trying to hide a pained smile as he nodded, “Yeah, I know that. I mean, that’s why I asked about New Year’s traditions and not... Hanukkah traditions.”

Leanne’s sniffling refused to let up, shoving her hands over her face. Her bottom lip protruded as a pout crossed her hidden face. “But you are upset and it was important - and I’m -” It was no surprise that after a deep attempt at a calming inhale she immediately broke down into heavier tears. Maybe this would be the deal-breaker that finally sent the rather homesick Lee back to Canada, loitering in a hospital chair. Without a word, she seemed to try and shuffle away from him.
Standing and walking over to cup her face, Levi offered a reassuring smile. “I’m not mad at you. I’m mad at Jack. I don’t know if you know this, but you’re my best friend, and I don’t want you crying because of me... I really just didn’t know if kissing him was a conscious decision-- And it was childish of me to even get upset over that.”

Elijah shrugged, simply stating, “I’m a sucker for European Monarchy. Plenty of drama.” He didn’t want to seem too eager, so he mearly shrugged again. “If you want to.”
“Not like my parents are flying down from Toronto to hear me on the sound board,” Levi joked, digging through his cluttered backpack before finally revealing two complimentary tickets. “Bring a friend or come twice... I just want to get these off my hands.”

Neither of them could really help Lee’s sensitive nature as her lips began to tremble. Of course, that would always happen before tears would cascade over her cheeks. “You are mad.” She whined, tears blurring her vision as she jerked her head away. “I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean to. I just do things when I’m drunk - like, like break really important promises and kiss people and drink more. I’m really sorry, Levi. W-why were we meeting anyhow?” Mascara was already painting streaks down her face while she’d sniffle loudly, suddenly jerking her head down to guiltily hide her face.
Immediately regretting raising his voice, Levi watched Leanne silently for a moment before sighing. “I... It’s not important, Lee. I shouldn’t be upset about it, but it’s just that Jack’s been getting to me lately and... I don’t know, I’m defensive. You can kiss whoever you want, Lee.”
